The Court also posed a question to the petitioners that why they were against the film when the book on which it was based was a work of fiction.

"You (petitioners) yourself accept that it is fiction and not fact then there should not have any objection," the Bench observed and also did not take into account the submission that five states in the country has banned the screening of the film.

The court expressed its surprise that the book Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown on which the film was based was published in the year 2003 and opposition to it came after three years.
