I'd love to listen to your recommendations of good songs

As for me, the most played song in my iTunes is Closer to You by The Wallflowers. I listened to it for 600+ times already. Of course, it's one of my favorites (hence the play count ).

Also:
Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz
Easy Like Sunday Morning by Commodores
Inside of You by Hoobastank
Up To Me by Five Times August
Over My Head by The Fray

Would love to know yours

Wednesday, Hi

This is what's playing right now!!! Bon Jovi's "It's My Life"!!! Also one of my very favorites! Playing now as I'm typing away:

It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive

(It's my life...)

My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said "I did it my way"
I just wanna live while I'm alive...
IT'S MY LIFE

This absolutely rocks!!!!!!!!!

P.S. So far I may sound a bit "behind" or "too mainstream-oriented"...I don't know. I listen to many different kinds of music, and well, I haven't listed all of my favorite songs LOL

Oops Wednesday...

I hadn't realized that you were asking for recommendations...I thought you just wanted to share our individual favorite songs...My bad. Those were not recommendations, but just some of my favorites, that's all. Conversely, I think I have things to learn from you- like the songs you mentioned, I have to shamefully admit that I had heard none of them. But I've heard the band "The Wallflowers"- just not even sure if I've actually listened to their music! What genre are they and what do they sound like? What do they talk about?

Ah, It's My Life. I used to listen to that when I feel repressed/p****d off by my parents. I like "I Want It All" by Queens, btw

More songs:
Through Glass - Stone Sour
Bother - Stone Sour

... Damn I really need to stop listening to depressing songs.

Yo D,
don't worry about it, list all your favorite songs if you want. I just want to broaden my knowledge of music

Glad I got you interested in The Wallflowers The Wallflowers' genre is classified as rock. The lead singer, Jakob Dylan, is the son of Bob Dylan, although he does not wish to be recognized because of that. Of course it doesn't matter to me whose famous singer's son he is, he's brilliant in his own right. I really admire Jakob Dylan's songwriting talent; their lyrics are like poems

I never realized what they sing about They sing about many different things. Mostly love, I think.

What's your favorite band/singer?

Hey Wednesday

The thing is I'm quite into some depressive songs every now and then...surely ppl would feel kinda fed up with the load of depressive stuff and long for a different sound/voice...

My favorite band or artist? Wow...that would be a tough call, because there are at least several, if not "many". Umm...The Cranberries (though Dolores O'Riordan Burton, the lead singer of the band, sounded awful live), Oasis, The Verve (disbanded ages ago...sad)...I'm still thinking...

When comparing Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Sontana, I'd prefer Jimi Hendrix, because he's got that wild and rebellious spirit in him. Sontana's outstanding, too, and is favored over Hendrix by a Filipino guitarist I know personally; he thinks Sontana is perhaps more graceful than Hendrix...I think it's just personal preferences. Madonna- yeah, astro junkie condemned her singing about "no regrets" while spanking a dog...but I don't want to lie to either others or to myself- I dig her no matter what. I like Ray Charles. The Beatles are THE pop/rock icon, no doubt, although I'm not, like, absolutely obsessed with them...I just think they're so very cool. I prefer John Lennon to Paul McCartney. Fleetwood Mac...their "Rumours" is my favorite album, on which my favorite tracks are "Never Going Back Again", "The Chain", "Oh Daddy" and "Gold Dust Woman"...gee, I don't know if I've got too much depressive stuff, which is just the opposite of what you need right now. You told me, I think, you'd like to listen to some more uplifting music.

But yesterday I was really glad that I got some Cranberries CDs at a second-hand music store. After I got home, the first thing I did was put on "No Need to Argue" and play "Disappointment", "Ridiculous Thoughts", "Dreaming My Dreams" and "Yeats' Grave". Then I played "Disappointment" repeatedly...

This morning I played two other Cranberries songs- "I Just Shot John Lennon" and "Cordell". The first for its full-blown rage and resentment for the tragic death of John Lennon. I'm really sorry- I'm going to try talking about other songs, not the depressive ones all the time.

I love Queen's "Who Wants to Live Forever" and Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris"- the latter for being featured in the movie "City of Angels", and I'm also aware that the formal was featured in the film "Highlander" (the original), which, I think, resemble my view on immortality, the question about whether to aspire to "live forever" physically or otherwise, seeing life and death as natural cycles of the universe and the ecosystem. Bryan Adams is renowned for his love songs, but any serious fan would recognize what he consistently expresses in his music- his passion for life, death, love, sex, and deeper thinking.

Thanks for the info on The Wallflowers- I like the history background and that they should be a cool band- nowadays it's a lot easier to listen to new music via multimedia, I think, but I just have to learn to make the best of the resources available...and be more active when it comes to new music- relatively new for myself anyway.

Depressive songs, eh? I have some good ones:

Another Day - Dream Theater (this song literally stopped me from killing myself)
Amazing - Aerosmith
Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
Don't Fear The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult (awesome song)
Easy Tonight - Five For Fighting
Gloomy Sunday - Billie Holiday
Hanging By A Thread - Jann Arden (really sad)
Hurt - Johnny Cash
Mad World - Alex Parks (suicidal)
My Friends - Red Hot Chili Peppers (help you help me)
Runaway Train - Soul Asylum

Well right now I kind of stay away from breakup songs. But no biggie

Anybody else? Pretty please...

I caught Cannonball on the radio when I was driving, put me in a depressed mood for the rest of the day I guess I'm still not over the breakup yet. Anyway, I do love his stuff too, so thanks for the recommendation. Cute album cover

I got these awesome songs yesterday:
My Doorbell - The White Stripes (So cute)
Bucky Done Gun - M.I.A (I now refrain myself from listening to this when driving)
Just Another Day - Oingo Boingo (Nice song to sleep to)
Whiketywhack - Christine Milton
Wanted - Holly Brook
Too Little Too Late - Jojo

The entire Tokyo Drift OST is pretty awesome too.

The song that really would precipitate intense sadness in me and in fact made me cry is "Paddy's Lamentation/The Ship is Sailing".

I love the '80s, including the music of that era; they're mixed- some are somber love songs, some are bubbly and joyful...but I think one of my top favorites is "When the Children Cry"- I don't remember who sang this.

Hey ~Wednesday~

Don't fear the reaper IS Awesome!

Trad rock fan myself mostly, though love Reggae rhythms too, and being NZer I like the polynesian styles very much.

Since my foray into the WWW, I've met awesome people who've expanded my music tastes & I now enjoy Finnish/Swedish Rock too.

Matkustaja --- Egotrippi (Elegant song)
I have lots of music from Egotrippi & Kent, (not sure if they're Finn or Swede, gah!..)..It's amazing listening to songs sung in a language I dont' understand.

One of the best recordings I own is Queens greatest hits, crystal clear, awesome sound, and their music is timeless. Oooh & Judy Mowatt, what a legend.

Hendrix is the guitar god! I recently found an album of his called Cat Fish Blues which is all a single song with Hendrix improvising all through. He is purely inspirational and a great artist to accompany your muse.

Here are some albums/artists I would recommend listening to:

DJ Format and MC Abdominal - V. clever guys
Dub Side of the moon/Easy Star Allstars
Dark Side of the moon/Pink Floyd

Umm, can't think of more at the mo. My tastes vary all the time :S
A smidgen of a list compared to all these music Gurus here ^^^!
Love Feel Good Inc. too!

Lovely, Wednesday! Have a great time listening to the music

HSC,

Wow, I think we share many personal favorites I really love Nirvana too! There are so many songs on your list that can be on my list also!

I like Savage Garden's "Mine" and "To the Moon & Back". The former is so sad, filled with sense of loss and yearning, and so beautiful; the latter was written based on a mutual friend of the two members of the band- Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones; it's about a girl's lack of being loved and needing love. I find myself relating to this song deeply. Savage Garden had a B-side called "The Other Side of Me", which is beautifully erotic.
