Summer Song: What You Need - INXS
(This is the toughest one for me. Pretty much has to be 80's for me, and should be danceable. Growing up I remember hearing cars blasting Depeche Mode down at the beach, and I'd freaking love it. Red Red Wine from UB40 would be a good one, too... ooh, or some Violent Femmes. After the fact I'm thinking of lots of cool ones -New Order.)Listen to anytime: I Started Something I Couldn't Finish - The Smiths (fun to sing)
While the rain falls: On Earth - The Sundays (That angelic Cancerian voice); Under The Milky Way - The Church
Song to Google by: Ways & Means - Snow Patrol
Teenage Lament division: It Doesn't Matter - Depeche Mode
Brooding Brit division: There Is a Light That Never Goes Out - The Smiths
Song That Makes Me Feel Sad: How Beautiful You Are - The Cure
You want to know why I hate you?
Well I'll try and explain...
You remember that day in Paris
When we wandered through the rain
And promised to each other
That we'd always think the same
And dreamed that dream
To be two souls as one
And stopped just as the sun set
And waited for the night
Outside a glittering building
Of glittering glass and burning light...
And in the road before us
Stood a weary greyish man
Who held a child upon his back
A small boy by the hand
The three of them were dressed in rags
And thinner than the air
And all six eyes stared fixedly on you
The father's eyes said "Beautiful!
How beautiful you are!"
The boy's eyes said
"How beautiful!
She shimmers like a star!"
The childs eyes uttered nothing
But a mute and utter joy
And filled my heart with shame for us
At the way we are
I turned to look at you
To read my thoughts upon your face
And gazed so deep into your eyes
So beautiful and strange
Until you spoke
And showed me understanding is a dream
"I hate these people staring
Make them go away from me!"
The fathers eyes said "Beautiful!
How beautiful you are!"
The boys eyes said
"How beautiful! She glitters like a star!"
The child's eyes uttered joy
And stilled my heart with sadness
For the way we are
And this is why I hate you
And how I understand
That no-one ever knows or loves another
Or loves another

LindaLand Anthem: Secret Garden - Madonna
(I'd thought about My Secret Garden by Depeche Mode, but while searching for lyrics Madonna's song seems better )
Madonna - Secret Garden Lyrics
In my secret garden, I'm looking for the perfect flower
Waiting for my finest hour
In my secret garden, I still believe after all
I still believe and I fall
You plant the seed and I'll watch it grow
I wonder when I'll start to show
I wonder if I'll ever know
Where my place is
Where my face is
I know it's in here somewhere
I just wish I knew the color of my hair
I know the answer's hiding somewhere
In my secret garden, there's
A petal that isn't torn
A heart that will not harden
A place that I can be born
In my secret garden
A rose without a thorn
A lover without scorn
If I wait for the rain to kiss me and undress me
Will I look like a fool, wet and a mess
Will I still be thirsty
Will I pass the test
And if I look for the rainbow, will I see it
Or will it pass right by
'Cause I'm not supposed to see
'Cause the blind are never free
Even at my secret garden
There's a chance that I could harden
That's why I'll keep on looking, for
A petal that isn't torn
A heart that will not harden
A place that I can be born
In my secret garden
A rose without a thorn
A lover without scorn
I still believe, I still believe
'Cause after all is said and done
I'm still alive
And the boots have come and trampled on me
And I'm still alive
'Cause the sun has kissed me, and caressed me
And I'm strong, and there's a chance
That I will grow, this I know
So I'm still looking for
Somewhere in fountain blue
Lies my secret garden
