I watched the new James Bond movie, Casino Royale, last night. At first,I didn't know what to expect, but it's definitely not a disappointment! Great action and great one-liners! And the ending is just perfect! The theme song is awesome too.

Apparently it’s grittier like the book and less whimsical like past Bond movies. So I’m looking forward to seeing it as I don’t like leave your brain before you enter movies.Haven’t seen the departed yet. I thought it would be cheesy but it’s getting good reviews, so I’ll check it out.

The movie is fantastic and Craig is better than anyone since Connery. While Sean is still the man for charm, Craig is intensity and power, vulnerability and depth. Plus he looks like he could genuinely have come out of the SBS (the SAS's tougher brother) as he was supposed to. This guy will be Bond for a long time. I don't want to upset anyone but the last Bond movies became too "Hollywood" - all style and no substance, and Halle Berry's character was awful. No class. An indication of Bond hitting a dead end for me with Brosnan (who just wasn't man enough for me). Back to British roots in this one and it shows, with a touch of European elegance. You'll like it. I haven't seen it, but I love the build up.. everything I read about the movie had the women in it, waxing poetic about how Craig was the sexiest Bond ever, and they wished they had more kissing scenes, etc. They really know how to play to their audiences, as so many people said he wasn't 'posh' enough the play Bond.. so those 'reviews' played right to that angle and had this woman wondering how very sexy he is after all, and I will eventually watch it, even though Bond installments haven't been on my must-see list since I was a kid watching reruns, and feeling innocently amorous toward Mr. Connery..IP: Logged |

I used to like Roger Moore, believe it or not. Even though the Seventies' movies were dreadfully camp and laughable they were fantastic entertainment (especially when Jaws glowers down at Bond and shows his teeth - and Moore puts his head on one side and raises an eyebrow). Or that awful one where there's an extraterrestrial community being created. I used to like Blofeld, as well. Where did he get to? And I used to work with someone who reminded me of a rather larger version of Nik Nak. Actors who really didn't cut it as James Bond were, of course, George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton. Dalton was a wonderful actor but much more classical/romantic in style, too good-looking really, which is perhaps why they didn't choose Hugh Jackman (gorgeous in The Prestige). Brosnan was OK, didn't offend one way or the other. Myself, I think the whole "ugliness" debate was actually a counter-measure designed to hype interest in the film. Daniel Craig was good in "Sylvia" (a critical failure, unbelievably), and I think he will be good in the Bond role. I went to the premiere in Leicester Square last Tues...couldn't see much as the police kept everyone well back before whisking the celebrities into the press enclosure...LOL! IP: Logged |

I very nearly saw Casino Royale last night. I ended up finding better use for my money, but I definitely want to see it. I saw a clip of the stairwell fight, and it looks pretty intense. He does appear to be the most substantial Bond since Connery. I do kind of wonder how a 40 year old is playing "young" Bond. The Departed was great. I've actually seen that twice already. It kinda sucks that apparently no one in Boston shoots anyone else in any area other than the head. Could have done without that. Loved the cast, though. IP: Logged |

Oh cool! Glad to see some positive reviews! I agree with Swerve, the last Bond films just weren't up to it... the series really needed to be updated with a better plot, previously it was definatly style over substance. Im looking forward to seeing this one. IP: Logged |

I watched it on Saturday Some of you were dead on about the movie... ALeonine - Daniel Craig does seem like he'd play a better villian...maybe it's because the fighting scenes were more graphic in this one. Still I thought he was thoroughly entertaining to watch...a refreshing change from the dainty Brosnon. Looking forward to watching "The Departed" Aqua Inferno - "Apparently it’s grittier like the book and less whimsical like past Bond movies"...Yep I found that too! Swerve - " I don't want to upset anyone but the last Bond movies became too "Hollywood" - all style and no substance". I also noticed that...the second last Bond movie Brosnon was in came on tv the night (I cant remember the name...bad with names) after I watched CasinoRoyale...There was a big difference...esp in the action scenes. I saw it with some friends when it came out Friday night and I thought it was AWESOME! He has to be the sexiest man I have ever seen! If they make 10 more with him in them, I will be first in line to see each and every one. Dear God, I hope they all feature him as nude as possible. LOLIP: Logged |

I love the action scenes at " Miami International Airport". In fact, that scene was not actually shot at MIA. But still, it was good!Guys who watched the latest Bond: Did you see Richard Branson, in the abovementioned place, in the film? IP: Logged |

As always, two sides to a story!I read in the newspaper that Casino Royale is the biggest grossing Bond movie ever, raking in over £13 million over its opening weekend, in the U.K. IP: Logged |

Oh yes! I did see Richard Branson in "Casino Royale"! I thought I was mistaken!I've seen both "Casino Royale" and "The Departed", and I personally think both could have been better. Jack Nicholson was not an ideal choice for his role, and I feel that he's been playing himself for the past few years..."The Departed", plotwise, could have been more organized, with much less comedian element would have been great. Very violent indeed. Leonardo DiCaprio did a good job. The latest Bond film has a different twist from all the rest Bond movies. Although I would never expect too much from Hollywood blockbusters, I'd say this one was not too bad...perhaps far better than most other Bond flicks, best in the last couple of decades. IP: Logged |

I got to see Casino Royale last night. It was very good. Had a bit more soul than usual, which was a unique twist.I've been confused about this being the first Bond book or whatever. It's still supposed to be the beginning of Bond, but the movie takes place in modern times with modern technology. Kind of unusual to go back to the beginning, and have it be set this year. I did thoroughly enjoy it, though. I don't know if it was Daniel Craig, or the way it was written, but the superficial charm of Bond was replaced by a much more understated charm. It was less Mercurial, and more Plutonian (or possibly Saturnian). IP: Logged |

Didn't read all the replies here, but the guy that plays the lead role played "Alex" in Laura Croft Tomb Raider. IP: Logged |

AG - you're spot on with the Plutonian comment - the energy is harder more intense, maybe that's why I like it more. For the modern setting, consider Batman Begins - they are calling this one Bond Begins..... The next one should have more of the familiar elements to it as he develops, and I think Craig as an actor will pull it off with no problems. Swerve IP: Logged |

Having got out and seen the movie - not sure why, as AG said, it had to be a remake. Not sure about the ueber-violence either, though both Daniel Craig and Eva Green were great. It didn't say "Bond" to me - but perhaps I require all the techno-gags - was wondering where "Q" was!!! IP: Logged |

I didn't say it was a remake, though there is a spoof movie of the same name. I said it was a bit bizarre to me that they decided to make the movie that starts Bond's career take place in modern times. The movie was great, though. It's interesting, too, that the movie has water all over it. Daniel Craig's a Pisces. Eva Green (Vesper) is a Cancer. Theme song is sung by Chris Cornell, a Cancer. Mads Mikkelsen, the bad guy, is a Scorp. IP: Logged |

I just realised Craig has Mercury and Venus in Aquarius as well as being a Pisces, just like me!Eva Green (Vesper) is a Cancer with Gemini Mars plus they BOTH have Aries Moons, so no wonder there was a good chemistry between them. Its probably why I loved the movie so much and Eva especially! Swerve IP: Logged |
