I was considering such stories as that of the "midnight commuters" here on this forum recently, plus other instances my African (white & black) tell me about from their home countries. Genocides, rapes, and many other atrocities. However, I could easily have mentioned Eastern Europe or Asia or the Middle East. We tend to see less genocide in the West. Lots of other problems, and individual crimes, but usually with much more of an element of individual choice in them than in war-torn or poverty stricken regions. Again, this may be too broad, but is only by way of an explanation of my thinking, not a justification of my point.
yeah....I guess the media potrays us as in a bad way...so I guess thats how the popular mis conception...comes about...even recently there was an article about how documentries more or lesss focus on the bad parts of the third world countrys and are hell bent on potraying them as poor, saavage etc...Again..I dont walk out and see murders/muggings happening.. they are very shocking to us...It is not a common thing..it's as common as it is in the london or u.s...maybe lower... quote:
I have been about quite a bit Hot Ice and to many countries with many friends of different nationalities.Dulce - Where you got the idea I was saying Third World countries are greedy I don't know, but the fact that I was unclear in my explanation of the comparison I was making means implication was understood where it was never intended. Hot Ice - I already understand all men are equal. When you throw the word "racism" about with such wild abandon it is just about the most personal attack you can make, and it was made first. My reaction was inappropriate and I admit that. My apology stands. One more thing, I am Persian myself, so "white supremacy" hardly applies. Let me know if I'm still unclear please.
You can find noble men living in both teepees,or huts or in giant mansions..uneducated/poor does not =savage or sick,or morally wrong people...whether they have goverments or not(most countrys do,and good ones too,and proper laws, and freedom and human rights) Tribes of africa, live in peace with nature,to them we are pretty savage because we detroy everything natural like rain forests, slaughter animals, pollute the atmosphere..which might ultimately end humanity... Hope I made my views clear(and more or less dulce's too)..peace swerve! IP: Logged |

High Five Hot Ice!!! 5 points for our Mercurialness...can't beat that. *I also find it ironic that they are saying that this type of thing is common in the Third World and it wouldn't be suprising to us when it was you, Hot Ice, who started the topic in first place...expressing your shock. You two seem quite pleased over a perceived victory of some sorts?Even though it can surely be seen that this was merely a misunderstanding after I explained my position. The fact that you defended a point I wasn't even making against you seems to be lost on you both. I'll say it for a final time - I never meant that Third World countries were backwards, and certainly not the people involved. I made gross errors in the ways I chose to express my point, and if this had indeed been as you both saw I should be ashamed of myself. However, I have taken great pain to explain that this was not the case, and I will definitely think more carefully about the examples I use to express a point as a lesson, you can be assured of that much at least. Just for the record Dulce, nowhere will you find that I said Third World people are greedy exclusively, that was a statement about the nature and motivations of war. You are completely and utterly misreading me and not acknowlegding my efforts to make amends. I'm hoping maybe you start to see my perspective but if not I think I've tried hard enough now out of respect of the fact we get on quite well apart from this particular thread. I will leave you both with your "victory", lol I was genuine in my apology for my poor choice of words. Are either of you capable of apologising to me for repeatedly calling me something as disgusting as racist? I won't be holding my breath.... AG - I appreciate your efforts to defend my corner, though I probably didn't deserve it. Thanks mate. This is my final word on this, have a ball with your replies guys... Swerve

This is the first time I read this article, and I am quite saddened by it. I gotta say, and hope not to offend but from what I know, and from people I know and stories I've heard, these African American men who become Nation of Islamics, and I'm not even calling them the same sort of Moslems that one of my girlfriend's is. Because she's the real thing. She revere's God, trusts him, relies on him. If there's injustice, she prays. Not act. And wield human justice. Because human justice is NOT God's justice. But, these guys, they use it as a sense to have power over their immediate environment. Man, I remember when I used to work in Compton at my uncles group home I had to past their place of worship and dude, I kid you not, at least once a week, there would be some kind of brawl on the street corner. Brother so and so going after brother so and so. And the women all covered up, looking downtrodden, watching it happen cause they're powerless to do anything about it. The things we do to feel loved by a man. And so, in this article when it mentions how the mother was intimidated by his glare on the witness stand, shows you the extreme dominance these men must have. Basically, it's a violent sect. It's a macho sect. A male dominate sect. Controlling. Justified and taught be justified in having no regard for the fellow man, other than their fellow man, male, brother. Black of course. And they'll only call me sistah, just to control me. Not share in the same power of. And the day a man puts his hand on me or if I had children, my child, will be the day he loses it. And he'll know that before he even thinks about doing it. She'll hurt me, or die trying. But that religion attracts a certain personality. This guy I used to see told me about a girlfriend of his that was raised in that environment. About how her father would beat her, until she convulsed and urniated on herself. I mean, unfortunately, children are going to grow up in these environments. That's why I don't believe in past lives. God couldn't be that cruel to make us do this world again. I don't beleive it. If someone believes, that's them, but I just don't. And strongly. There's no convincing me. Also, my sister worked as a victim's witness advocate for the City of Riverside. There were two cases of black nation of islamic men, rendering abuse on their families and children. So, horrific, not feeding them, beating, and other things that I will NOT mention here. But the act itself always stemmed from control. Making them all line up. You know, from some order. Very militaristic. So, that religion just attracts that personality. A man who needs control because he feels he doesn't have any. Once they join the sect, they gain an instant card of intimidation and dominance and power. It's so sad, and I wish it didn't exist. But, it does. And personally, I don't see any light in it. Or the end of a tunnel. It's just, pray the children, and hope they can survive it. Especially the girls. So, it's this. I know it. Too well. It's this. And it's not going to be the last timef, unfortunately. And it has nothing to do with Americanism. Just humanism. A man's (human) need for power. The real root of all evil.
