I'm not a football fan, and I kind of hate the fuss over the Super Bowl. But I made chili! LOL. My family loves football, so I made chili for them - well it was a self-serving act, seeing I made the kindof chili *I* like - three meat chili (beef, pork, turkey) that really loaded with spices, and no beans! I made it when I first go up this morning, and it's been simmering for 3 hours now. The whole house smells of chili. I just tasted it - it's one of the best batches I've ever made. Yummy, yummy, yummy. IP: Logged |

I'm not a big football fan either (it would help if I understood the rules ), but I think I'll watch a bit, if only to catch the commercials & see who's winning!GN, how come your chili has no beans? I thought chili had to have beans to be chili? (Though, I might be wrong, because I've never made chili with meat in it; i'm vegetarian). Sunshine IP: Logged |

Sweet Stars - I don't mean to be rude, but I don't care.Sunshine - Original chili was just meat (usually jerkied meat) stewed in water with a lot of spices and herbs. It's originally cowboy food - simple, used preserved meat and spices that travel well and don't weigh much, could be left to stew over a fire for a long time, etc. Traditional "Texas" chili often has onions, but no beans or tomatoes. There's tons of variations nowdays. I have no idea how beans got introduced - probably used as a "filler" when there wasn't enough meat. But it's not an original ingredient (depsite what anyone else says. I've livedin Texas long enough to have learned this lesson well). IP: Logged |

I was replying to sunshine GN since she said she was a vegetarian. I don't know why you'd even be mad. It's not like I came in here and started cursing at you for eating meat either. Calm down before you give yourself a titi attack woman.
