Thanks for the info, Pix....the placenta stuff makes sense.I agree that modern medicine treats pregnancy like a disease, and that disturbs me more than anything. I am sure your baby will healthy and fine- and obviously, with this delay, will have a mind of his own!! MK IP: Logged |

That's weird, I'd hate that!OKay, the plan is..... tomorrow I have my Ultrasound early in the morning ( First thing) to check to see if Elliot ( oh heck, it could be Simone at this point, who even knows! I conceded defeat!)is looking good, fluid levels and all that... if so, then it's business as usual. And you know what? I am so expecting him to be good that I didn't ask what happens if he isn't. I imagine we'll go on to the other hospital and induce immediately. NO home birth. Barring that all is well, and I don't naturally give birth sometime on the weekend. * ahem, the way he is, I highly doubt anything optimistic like that at this point!* Anyway... if I am still preggers by Sunday, then I go to the hospital in the late afternoon to have the Prostaglandin gel applied. They will monitor me for a while as an outpatient, and if all looks good, I can go home to try for my home birth. If things don't progress once my cervix is 'engaged', then I have to call the hospital back starting at 6 am monday, to see if they have room for me. *rolls my eyes* and then go on in and be induced with pitocin, etc. I am hoping for the best and expect to get it, homebirth or not. I'll still have my midwives who know my birth wishes, and will support me and stay with me all throughout this experience. We had a thorough stretch and sweep today as well, and I definitiely lost plug afterwards, and wow, everytime baby moves, my cervix HURTS! So that must be a good thing. I am even more softened, but who knows what that means. Some cramping, but nothing huge or labour indicating, nothing really progressive so far. I'm taking it easy now, but after the appointment, I walked a fair bit in the grocery store ( I was actually in pain due to my cervix and my hips) for some freezer foods to stock up on during the next little while. So that's the plan. I still hope to have the best experience I can, even if I have to ammend my original plans. Isn't that just the way things work? Who knows.. but at least I have an end in sight. And I'll have my healthy and beautiful Pisces. IP: Logged |

Pix,Even when it looks like you aren't going to get anything you want, babes will surprise you. When our daughter was born, I was in labor for 14 hrs, after which we had to go to hospital, and they gave me a pitocin drip. After 4 hrs of that, they decide it's time to "go in". At that point I didnt' care anymore, I just wanted it to be over. They come and prep me, catheter, shaving and all, and then discover that the surgery suite had just been occupied by an emergency apendectomy. It was going to be another hour before I could get c-section....get to the point of the asthesiologist walking down the hall to get me drugged, and out pops our girl! Healthy, Happy, Noisy, and Hungry! I'll be thinking of you and visualizing labor too. I had a dream last night that I was in the materity unit in a hospital....I can't remember much other than stopping and thinking to myself "why am I here, I'm not pregnant" lol I had to analyze things a bit and realized that you are the only person I know "due" at this time, so perhaps it had something to do with you, lol Heres to hoping that my dream meant that you were giving birth, or at least in labor....**crosses fingers**lol Noreen IP: Logged |

.....maybe tonight! Here's the update on the 41.1 week ultrasound. ( today's) He is doing wonderfully in there, so I am not worried. Plenty of fluid, nothing physical to worry about, he is moving well ( I certainly knew that) In fact, she commented that he was a great and coordinated little mover.. didn't he realize he had little room in there? (Yeah, tell me about it!) She said he is 100 % a boy, as I was wondering.. I'd much rather have definitively found out in the flesh by now, alas, he has other plans. She estimated him to be about 8.5 lbs. * please not much more growing, I don't know how much bigger my hips *not to mention other body parts* can take..... The way she asked , before she told me how big she thought he was... she said "Were your other kids big?" I was waiting for the ..'TOO' on the end, and got a bit concerned.... He is definitely my biggest, he can come now. Hubby and I went for a 'mall walk' afterwards, I did contract quite a bit, not to mention I have had consistent 'show' since yesterday.. but nothing coordinated yet. I do think it will be tonight or tomorrow though.... I think baby wanted to do daddy proud and come on St Paddy's day. At least this way my midwife can deliver, she'll be back from her conference. ( She'll be tickled pink! She was upset to miss it) So I think based on the signs, Elliot was being nice pre birth. well.. nice to daddy, as he can be here all weekend, and even today is his day off... and my midwife, who shall be home tonight. It's nice to have nice kids. ( At the expense of mom, in this case.) I love him. It was sososogreat to see him on a screen today.. yes, even just on a screen, and see his little baby hands up by his face, and see him making beautiful sucky lips, and see his little (BIG) scrotum and know for sure he is what he is. She said "Oh yeah, he's definately, 100% a boy!" Daddy stopped himself from making woop woop noises and saying "Yep, just like daddy. We grow 'em big 'round here." Barely. But the smile was evident. Anyway.. I am super happy that he is good and still thriving. I am also super happy that if he doesn't come on his own, I can concede to going in after him, knowing he is good, on sunday night. I have considered the possibility of Aries and went.. "Nope, you will be a Pisces whether I make you one kicking and screaming." You have to understand I have never been this pregnant and uncomfortable in my life. I will NOT MAKE IT to Aries. NO way. PLus, he and I have a deal. He's MY child.. my one and only water child.... the rest are wonderful air and fire kids. He will be my clingy last child. You kow how these things work. IP: Logged |

ooooh how exciting and good luck to you Pix!!I remember when I was preggers like it was yesterday. I was sitting in his nursery folding his laundry I had just received and washed. And my SO at the time asked how I was feeling, I said it feel like some pulling down low but nothing. He *made* me call my mom for suggestions. After her, my sis and my son's dad telling me to go in, we did. Nothing was happening. I wasn't even dialated. They had me walk around a bit see if that would do anything. Nope. Sent me home at about midnight. Went to sleep and woke up at 4am with those aweful contractions. Got back to the hospital about 8 am, started pushing about 11am and out he came, 8lbs 12oz at 12:18pm And he fleeeew out at 8.12, placenta came right along with him lol Only bad thing for me was that he was born with his hand holding his ear (which actually nearly 3 years later still sticks out more then the other) and on my last push he jerked his hand off his head causing me to rip. Lane is named after a bull rider (Lane Frost) so some family and friends said he was born ready to ride a bull lol (you know, hand in the air as they get bucked around) GOOD LUCK HUN!! We are anxious to see some pictures of your little man! muah! IP: Logged |

I thought I'd have me a St Paddy's baby.. alas, he had other plans, as usual.. I'm pretty tired of stalled labour. No one knows the weariness of an expectant mother ten days past her due date ( especially one who thought she'd deliver way before her due date, only to pass it by this much!!)I am going in to the hospital this afternoon for a cervical gel. Hopefully this sets us up for a baby. If not, I will be induced tomorrow. Thanks for all your concern and thoughts and well wishes. Hopefully the next time you hear from me, I will be posting his birth time date and weight and a lovely story of how my labour went differently than expected but that the best possible outcome happened. Thanks!
