This is for fellow dog lovers! My goofy mind was actually contemplating this today...why certain people might like different breeds of dogs than others. There should be an astrological guide! Here's my take...feel free to add your own! Starting with the "Fire Dogs." Aries - Dalmation HIGH energy. Always moving. Sometimes leaps before looking. Leo - Chow Chow This dog just screams "regal." They are extremely loyal...to certain people, others they just casually ignore. They are content to spend their time being adored by their disciples. Sagittarius - St. Bernard (and other mountain rescue dogs) This dog is rugged and outdoorsy. They enjoy being outside exploring, and originated from a need for an extreme temperature rescue animal.

Earth Dogs...Taurus - Bloodhound (and all other hounds) This dog is good natured, calm, and low maintenance. They are perfectly content hunting along side their owner or just sniffing the flowers. Capricorn - German Shepherd The workaholic of the canine world. They go mad if they do not have a job to do, and thrive when they are being praised for a job "well done." I've had three of them. Virgo - Labrador Retriever The most popular dog...because it's "perfect." LOYAL? Check. FRIENDLY? Check. GOOD WITH KIDS? Check. INTELLIGENT? Check.

Air Dogs...Gemini - Border Collie. Also, many small breeds because they can be taken everywhere and love to "talk." Border Collies have very restless minds and love to be given tasks to focus their energies on. One of the most intelligent breeds. Libra - Golden Retriever Beautiful, kind, friendly, and balanced. Aquarius - Weimaraner This dog is highly intelligent, highly inquisitive, and high energy. Also, they have a tendency to be a bit "quirky" IP: Logged |

Water Dogs...Cancer - Cocker Spaniel This dog is cute, sweet, cuddly, and loving. They can also be a bit moody. Scorpio - Pit Bull Terrier (also Rottweiler, Doberman, and Boxer). Fierce loyalty, strong character, and boundless determination. Will fight to the death before giving up. Pisces - Siberian Husky (and all nordic breeds closely related to wolves). These dogs are the "old souls" of the canine world. They often seem like they are daydreaming or contemplating an escape. They like affection but also need time alone. Have a tendency to roam, and have no desire or need for confrontation...they'd rather stay curled up on a rug than bark at the door. IP: Logged |

I love St. Bernards!!!!! Oh and German Shepherd is spot on for Capricorn. quote:
These dogs are the "old souls" of the canine world. They often seem like they are daydreaming or contemplating an escape. They like affection but also need time alone. Have a tendency to roam, and have no desire or need for confrontation...they'd rather stay curled up on a rug than bark at the door.
I love these dogs!!! And that's spot on! quote: The Siberian HuskyThe Good Points 1. Friendly with people of all ages. 2. An honest dog- his body longuage and voice can be taken at face value- he says what he means. 3. He has no guarding instinct and will greet and kiss an intruder the same as any other visitor. 4. Gregarious- he likes company. 5. Youthful in outlook, he often reaches 14 years of age, sometimes 16 or more. 6. Robust athletic constitution. 7. Good travellers, new sights and sounds do not upset them. 8. Intelligent and michievous. 9. Easygoing and forgiving. 10. Clean, little or no doggy smell. Some people allergic to dogs can tolerate Siberian Husky fur. 11. Straightforward to groom. 12. Quiet. They do not often bark, but they do howl like a wolf- often just for the joy of it. This may be a disadvantage in some neighbourhoods. 13. They do not require as much food for their size as many other breeds. 14. Not fussy eaters (but see minus point 12). 15. Get on well with other well adjusted canines. However they will take up a challenge if offered.
The above assumes a normal puppyhood and socialisation. **same with a pisces child** The Minus Points
1. Not a one-man dog- any human will do- this may be seen as a lack of loyalty. 2. He will not guard your home or property. 3. Strong desire to run. If he gets free he will run so far he will be lost, if not hit by a car or train, or shot by a farmer. 4. Cannot be relied on to return to you on command. He will decide whether or not to return for himself, knowing that you cannot catch him. 5. Too independent and strong willed generally to be a candidate for obedience training/work. **key word obedience** 6. Keen and efficient hunter and killer. Cannot be trusted with non-canine pets or livestock of any sort. On occasion been known to accept into the pack a cat that he is brought up with, but all others will be regarded as fair game. Please note - huskies have been known to kill cats, that they have lived happily with for many years, for no obvious reason. 7. Like any dog- must be exercised to keep him fit and contented, but this must be done ON lead. 8. Can be very destructive, especially when young and/or if left alone for a long time. 9. Needs company, either human or canine, and is miserable without it. 10. Needs a safely enclosed exercise area. Your garden must be fully fenced and secure. Six foot high fencing USUALLY enough. Check neighbours will not object to high fences. Take care he cannot dig his way out beneath it, and do not leave dustbins etc near the fence or he may use them to get over the top. Keep the garden gate locked, otherwise there is a risk that visitors, window cleaners etc may leave them open. 11.Your garden is unlikely to remain neat and tidy with a Sibe, rampaging happily within. 12. He needs correct feeding- breeders will be able to tell you which foods suit Sibes and which can cause problems. 13. Moults twice a year. The quantity of fur shed can surprise you, especially in spring when the winter coat is replaced by a shorter, thinner summer coat. 14. You need an understanding and experienced veterinary surgeon. Sibes are sensitive to some drugs, particularly anaesthetics, sedatives and tranquillisers. This is due to their relatively low metabolic rate and lack of body fat. Also the bulk of their fur can lead vets to overestimate their weight and so overdose them. Sibes should always be weighed accurately beforehand to avoid this. http://www.siberianhuskyclub.com/abouthuskies/advantages
Sorry, I'm just obessed with this dog IP: Logged |

^LOL!I love Chows, but their look is misleading, as they're gaurd dogs and pretty large. quote: The Chow Chow is usually well-mannered, but can be willful and protective. Bossy, serious and very independent. They are self-willed to the point of obstinacy. Often a one-person dog, very loyal to his family, though he may act reserved, even with them. If strangers push themselves on this dog, he may become aggressive. This very dominant breed requires a dominant owner.Don't expect great obedience from them. They are born stubborn and with minds of their own. The dogs can learn because they are certainly not stupid, but they must see the point of your command.
Very Leo, at least male anyway.IP: Logged |

Glad you guys like it! I figured I might as well put my knowledge of dogs and astrology together! I'd definitely agree with your other choices too...Pom/Pug for Leo and ABSOLUTELY Jack Russell for Aries! That one's perfect! I'm a Chow/Shepherd/Husky mut myself. I grew up with the sled dog breeds and I LOVE them, however when our last Alaskan Malamute passed away I couldn't stand to "replace" him with another...so I switched to Shepherds for a while. They appealed to my Cap sensibility and practicality. I'd like to get a Husky next (have to satisfy my "moon"), although since they retain so much of the wolf instinct, they are not so good with cats and small animals...so that could be an issue. I thought of a couple "bonus breeds." Sagittarius/Virgo: Bichon Frise - For Sag, the most peppy, spirited, happy-go-lucky little dog around. For Virgo, they are practical. They're hypo-allergenic and don't shed! Taurus: Mastiffs. I saw one walking - very SLOWLY in my neighborhood yesterday. I thought that just screamed "Taurus." IP: Logged |

This is cute and pretty accurate. I had a boxer from the time I was 14 y.o. to 17 y.o. I loved that dog. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.we-love-dogz.com/boxer.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.we-love-dogz.com/pictures_of_all_dog_breeds.html&h=400&w=267&sz=88&hl=en&start=29& tbnid=OCPIvCnHMCzqdM:&tbnh=124&tbnw=83&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dboxer%2Bdog%26start%3D20%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D20%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN My daughter wanted a dog, so I purchased her a Golden Retriever. My mother (a Taurus) purchased her a Bassett Hound. __________________________________________ Scorpio sun, venus, mars, mercury, and uranus Libra moon, pluto, and asc. IP: Logged |

LMAO.. I love it...I can see the St. Bernard in me... I slopper and get tangled up in my big feet at time. Give me an extreme situation and I am there. In my off time, I can be found bumping into furniture (literally) while my large tail knocks over items on the table, end tables and curio cabinets.. again, literally. Bear the.... Chow Chow LOL.... too bad he doesn't care for large dogs (I love big dogs) he is more of a Dachaund (sp) man. He grew up raising those weiner dogs and I can say from my experience with those pups, they are pretty Leo as well. Small, big egos and VERY loyal.. plus they look cute in a bun. well.. off to slobber on someone's shoes! IP: Logged |

At first I was disappointed to see the St. Bernard for my sign (not my favorite dog, but not a bad one...)Then I scrolled down and took one look at his face and thought: That pooch has Archer written all over it! Great Job! Thanks for taking the time and for sharing. IP: Logged |

LMAO Pid!!! quote: I'm not a big fan of German Shepherd's myself, but my Cap Asc girlfriend loves them.
Maybe that's why she loves you, AG??!!! Actually, I think German Shepherds are a very good match for Aries as well...for the same reasons. They are focused, determined, and obedient. I got so much joy from working with one of my shepherds. I got a great sense of pride and accomplishment out of training him. Aries and Caps really benefit from the relationship with a well bred, well socialized shepherd. One of my close friends (Aries) has two of them, and she's gotten both of them certified as therapy dogs, canine good citizens, and numerous agility awards. IP: Logged |
