Rant time:I am so shutting my account down with myspace; Gosh I swear I get more spam from that place than ebay. Its just filled with attention mongering wankers (pardon the language) who have nothing better to do than send off totally random friend requests or simply go on an attention grabbing spree. There is a big difference between trying to actually know a person and trying to increase one's friend list. I think I am gonna stick with Zorpia for the time being but even that service is quickly becomming a nuicence. Recently, the less popular (and as a result, more peaceful) Zorpia got removed off the Wiki page on grounds that the site is just a "spam magnet." And you know what... IT REALLY FRIKIN HAS BECOME THAT! It was ment to be a place for 18+ people but you can tell that kids have fudged their ages to join in. Just goes to show that if you give people open rights, they WILL abuse them. IP: Logged |

Well, It's only natural that a meat market would also include Spam, Xodian. Sorry, Taurus humor and I coudn't resist.

i love myspace...i love the music and the ideas that flow through myspace-cyberspace. i just sent out 2 friend requests, lol. i like their art very much...though i'm quite sure that we won't be getting to know each other personally. there are a lot of spiritual people there, sharing love and light, whose pages can have a profound effect on others' lives. there is wide variety of reasons for people interacting in myspace -- kindess, joy, spirituality, artistic, literary, philosophical...are some that appeal to me.my latest friend request though is from someone whose profile is about promoting her website with photos that are unacceptable on myspace. bleh. i don't deny friend requests usually, but i won't accept this one. but that's all there is to it. i'll continue appreciating myspace for the finer stuff that is there, if that's what you seek -- it is there, and lots of it too. rather like life. Mirandee:Lol! Oh you. Why settle for Spam when you can have all the lean cuts you want? (Leo self-fulling humor there ) Naiad: No doubt its a great social network, but don't you just hate it when the big bad world of internet anamosity comes banging right at your e-mail account? There have been incidents with that site that I am not even gonna mention here since this is a "family friendly" environment Lol! See, as part of the above 18 crowd I expect to lavish around in an environment that I know is restricted to adults only so as such I finally feel like I have the liberty to express myself without undue feelings of the fact that I maybe corrupting an innocent's mind Lol! However, these days, I can't even be sure if a person's posted age is their actual age since their posts happen to sound childish beyond belief. So many good forums have taken a drop in mature members since they just lose the taste for posting and leave leaving the forum barren and a roaming ground for toddlers. That is why I decided to give Zorpia a try... but alas even that place has taken a huge spam blow *Le Sigh.* IP: Logged |

Xodian, I certainly agree with your opinion. A good friend of mine just deleted her account a couple days ago after she found out that her son's former teacher helped one of the kid's in his class create an account, and he was investigated last year for getting "too close" to one of the boys in his class. All of this freaked her out, and she felt that since she didn't want her children having an account, she ought to set the example. I get extremely annoyed by the different bands, survey sites, internet models and such that I get friend requests from on a daily basis, BUT I have also reconnected with several old friends that I hadn't seen or talked to in years. I often browse around in hopes of meeting other new, interesting people, and I have met a few. I think you just have to take it with a grain of salt. You get the good with the bad. Not everyone's an opportunist, and you just have to be careful who you let into your circle. You should look me up! LOL...I wouldn't mind chatting with you! Intelligent, mindful people like yourself are the types I was hoping to connect with on there in the first place. IP: Logged |

Crankycap:Oh I defiantely know that I have to get used to with the bad inorder to appreciate the good. BUD from this forum for instance is on my myspace friend list . However, enough is enough; I can't take it anymore. Its just not worth the hastle going though a mountain full of requests everyday just to see if the person I actualy want on my list is there or not. And well... you can always look me up here Lol! http://www.zorpia.com/otherlands Aleo: Never heard of that service and frankly I wouldn't be surprised if it hasn't turned into a spamyard as well. Moon I wondered what happened to you!!! ((Xodian---I have set mine to private and get less bullcrap---I am SO tired of people trying to tell how to earn $$ from my home, with fake pics of skanks!! !!! Out of the 53 "friends" have, none are "real life" except for a precious 4 and 2 of those are my daughters...most are local and semi-local bands---I love to network music! Some are gurus and some sites for subjects that are near and dear to me--- And----to the above mentioned individual---myspace is NOT a meat market---then again I suppose bulls might think so.... Good thing I deleted mine ages ago; have other ways to keep in touch with friends and family like AIM. Though I'm thinking of getting a Hi5.....every one of my relatives back at home has one. It's all the phishers fault and the methods they use to get people's passwords (create fake login pages to fool people). Because I know this lady Lori from Anatomy whose neice Gianna got her profile phished and her neice Gianna kept sending her stuff like "Holy f**cking Sh*t, check out these new ringtones!". So Lori totally wanted to tell Gianna's parents about her "pottymouth" until me and our other friend explained to her what was really going on.

I love MySpace. Simple to keep the spam down, really.Make your profile private and then make sure that in order for someone to be able to make a friend request they know your email address or last name. *shrugs* IP: Logged |

Seems everyone is into spam these days. I have backed off from signing petitions that are for good causes because my email box is getting filled up everyday with spam mail. They must think I am wealthy because they all want money. I get so tired of cleaning out my email box everyday that I am thinking of changing my account. IP: Logged |

Well... Its too late for profile setting changes; I actually sent an e-mail to Tom to shut my account down. What can I say... Zorpia just has way too many cool features to let go . I can only update one personal page at a time Lol! (that would disinclude the Fragdood profile as well... Man I need to cut back on internet socializing Lol!) IP: Logged |

You have to send an email to TOM to delete a profile on MySpace? Can't you just delete the profile? That's weird.IP: Logged |
