Honoring Rites of PassageAt times we find ourselves at a place in which we don’t know how to get out or even how we arrived there in the first place. We feel stuck, maybe scared, angry, despairing. And this may be a place that we seem to keep returning to, where we find ourselves ending-up again and again. This place may be a “wrong” relationship, a sense of hopelessness or criticalness of ourselves or life. This may be a place of anger or negativity in how we view the world, a sense of feeling lost (again), out of balance, out of integrity with our deepest truths. This is a place of the Rite of Passage, where we pass through the darkness of the unknown, the difficult, the deep feeling, and come out to another place –a newness, a new pattern, new view, new sense of self– truer each time. Yet, it takes a consciousness of this passage, this transformation, to make it affective. There is a need of honoring this time and allowing the process to work through fully –listening, witnessing and being attentive to what is clearing away and what is unfolding anew. "To first know yourself you must know your past. Knowing your past will allow you to look and plan for the future. In Generations the Mother looks into her bag made of traditional sisal, while her daughter stands behind her awaiting the content from the bag that will be passed from one generation to the next. The daughter’s gaze keeps a watchful eye while the Mother looks for an item from the past that will help shape her daughter’s future. What is the item? Something that is meant to empower the daughter, with the knowledge of the Mother. What is the item? Search your own past and then you will know what shapes your future generations." Hi Solane, this is a video on women's empowerment. Its in Hindi, with subtitles. Hope you guys will understand the message. Here's a description: 'Breakthrough's video -Mann ke Manjeeré- winner of the Screen Awards 2001 in India and nominated for MTV's 'Best Indipop Music Video', reached 26 million households via six satellite music television channels, effectively mainstreaming discussions about domestic violence issues throughout South Asia and reaching as far as Tajikistan, Indonesia and the United States.' One thing I need to tell you, before you watch the video. In India, women driving a truck is a very very rare sight. So it becomes a symbol of breaking the mold, of empowerment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsFha77l3RY IP: Logged |

Warrior Woman Has Fully Awoken! This woman has been kind, gentle, and has much love, All of this has been given with the blessing of the Great Spirit above, But Great Spirit gave her something else and she didn't know it, The Great Spirit gave her the blessing of being a warriorwoman as now her light is lit! This warriorwoman has come fully alive today, She is no longer anyone's slave or prey, She is taking back her life today, And those who know who she truly is, can stay. No longer will she live the lives of others, She will give back the blames and responsibilities of others where it belongs, For she also has the bear and wolf inside her, Which is now so very powerful and uniquely strong. The warriorwoman now knows what road she must follow, For others it will be to hard to swallow, Her life was taken from her unknowingly many years ago, And this warriorwoman is taking back her life before the next winds blow.
Oh Sister Moon you give me the strength, As a warriorwoman to conquer what's on my path, High above and way beneath, And the much needed strength to take on the wrath.
This warriorwoman is fully awaken and is taking a stand, Taking the problems by the horns with my hand, I will conquer that is all there, All and who comes as they dare.
Warriorwoman has fully awaken, And many will see that they have mistaken, Of robbing her of her life, they as a thief, Warriorwoman will conquer! And have no grief!
This warriorwoman will protect her people, her son, and those who need her, If anyone hurts the, look out! They will hear a GGGGGGRRRRRRRRR, As they run and shout!
This warriorwoman is taking back her life, Taking back the respect that was taken from her throughout the years ever so slow, This warriorwoman is removing pain and hurt from within the heart caused by the knife, From all those who are both family and foe.
I am claiming what's mine, and my dignity, From those who live in this society of vanity, I am claiming back in full my heritage, And as a warriorwoman I am going to clean up many years of carnage. For now standing in front of you, You see this warriorwoman, you see me, Someone special has taught me to be free, From this day forward for me no more slavery, Gentleness, kindness, and love is part of me, and so is my dignity, This is NOT WEAKNESS, as others believe, But this strength is within me and you. I will listen to the spirits and grow, I will travel in the whispering winds as they blow, All the work I know do will be for Our People and all nations, I will protect and guide the future generations. Now it is time for me to travel on my new path, As a warriorwoman conquering all wrath, If you ever see and want to meet me, Please come, and I will also teach and share with you how to be free. © Lady J-Ann

Oh gosh, I don't have time right now to listen to the song or read all of this but great thread, Star !!! I really like the native american woman picture and what it said and the article about passing on something we have learned to the daughter. We have done that in this family with two generations now. Lialei is one strong, self-assured, yet compassionate and empathetic loving woman. My daughter in law is as well and all four of my grand daughters are already showing the strength and wisdom of their mothers. I hope the compassionate, strong and loving men at LL also join this thread with their input. There are many of them at this site as well as the world. There is an equality and kinship of the soul among both men and women who through their love, compassion, empathy and strength of character have made a dent in this world in bringing justice and freedom from oppression into the world and making it a better place for all. Both men and women are still doing it today and passing that legacy onto the next generations. However, it is wonderful that women have broken totally free of the bonds of oppression of past generations to be the strong, self-assured women they are today and still maintain that gentle, compassionate, empathetic and loving nature. Strength only enhances those loving qualities in women. We are in many ways still fighting that battle because although it is more subtle these days, it's still a part of the world. Viva la Woman!!!! Viva la man!!!! IP: Logged |

When my grandmother(my mom's mom) died, everyone in Canada, was fighting over her belongings, Myself, mom, and sister were in New Hampshire, when they were going through all her things. I was asked if there was anything I wanted. I knew what I wanted, it's a vegetable lady, that she hung in her kitchen, she's 12 inches tall. Her head is a tomatoe, with a small pineapple on her head, leaves for a collar, her upper body a pear, her arms are carrots, wrists are leaves, hands are strawberries, her torso another tomatoe, underthat leaves, and her legs are carrots, ankles with leaves, and peppers are her feet. This was the one item I wanted, and I got it. A year ago, I Lived in Canada for two years, and family came to visit, aunts and uncles, they could not believe I had this vegetable lady, they grew up with it, they wanted it, hehehehehe yet they were there when they split the belongings, and never gave her a second glance, material money things were more important. I feel this was left unnoticed just for me, and it's truly what I wanted, people always comment on her, I've not seen another, it's very old, but in great condition. I LOve my grandmother, and the Vegetable Lady.. and ALL of you!IP: Logged |
