MK and anyOne else who scored high on the 'fruitcake' plate....You must be a genius Who was it who equated genius as 'being close to madness'? Well, I think these tests can be good ways of looking at a narrow summary BASED on a set of questions/ factors which can be helpful when sorting out the clutter in one's mind when they want to work on self-improvement. Please don't think this is a superiority competition! LOL You know who you are. No test or exam or CV can sum up your true value or your SOUL! We are so much bigger and more infinite than all that. IQ tests- what are they? Based on what we can remember from what we perceive, etc....so what. If anyone is familiar with TONY BUZAN (he wrote books about MASTERING OUR MEMORIES and invented mind-mapping)....he wrote a book called 'Head First' which points out that we have at LEAST 10 different TYPES of intelligence. Not just memorization of empty facts! Social intelligence, spiritual intelligence, creative intelligence, sensual intelligence, etc. So...these tests can be helpful when sorting out the clutter in one's mind when they want to work on self-improvement or something like that...but NOTHING more!!

My test results were very good on this test but have to say that in years past I would have scored a mess too. In fact I think in many ways I am still a mess. On a more realistic and in depth personality disorder test I might score much worse. There is hope that change happens, slowly, gradually through the years if you are working on it spiritually and psychologically. I have had two therapists whom I worked with regarding my childhood baggage and they both told me that I am very well adjusted for someone with my childhood traumas. I attribute that to God and his/her Grace. We all have some kind of personality disorder. Pyschologists don't even use the term "normal." I have always felt, God, preserve me from ever being normal. I don't know who said that insanity goes with genius. However, I feel that is an untruth whoever said it. Einstein would hardly be considered insane. Anything but that!!!! That applies to most geniuses. My oldest grand daughter who just turned 12 years old in March has a very high IQ for her age and has been promoted once in school. Would have been promoted twice except her parents nixed it as it would have put her with kids much older than her and they worried about the psychological impact of that on her. Also there are some things they preferred her not to know at a young age. Insantity could happen with genius if the person was never allowed to just be a kid or be like his/her peers. But naturally it is not an occurance that comes with above normal intelligence. Einstein did not do well in school. Neither did Thomas Edison. I think that were both dyslexic. Not sure if both were. I think that Einstein was dyslexic and Edison had a hearing problem. My memory fails me on that. IP: Logged |

Mirandee,Right on.... I doubt that someone that is insane can automatically be listed as genius. I also thing LTT is right in that it is a matter of the soul. Dyslexia does not preclude someone from being a genius in any way. Ditto! (Incidentally, I think the people that are hardest on themselves probably scored more negatively. That or the Mercury influence.) IP: Logged |

I think you are right about that, AG I think it also has something to do with the black/white - either/or questions on those tests. Some of those questions could apply at some time in our lives but not at other times. Depends on how we are feeling at the time. IP: Logged |

I guess what it means...the genius and madness thing...is people who are VERY ingenious may appear WAY OUT(!) to the rest of the world. It also makes me think of the words 'keen awareness brings poignant suffering'. Empathy brings joy because we feel the connection which permeates all life; it also brings pain because of the knowledge of the suffering that exists. One must be objective about what suffering they focus on and how they can do something constructive, rather than being overwhelmed which is defeatingly destructive. ------------------ “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. Paranoid: Very High Schizoid: High Schizotypal: Moderate Antisocial: Moderate Borderline: Moderate Histrionic: Very High Narcissistic: Very High Avoidant: Moderate Dependent: Low Obsessive-Compulsive: Moderate Well, that seems OK, what's wrong with that? Nothing abnormal in there as far as I can see!! The Paranoid and Narcissistic are dead on, although I'm not sure about the Histrionic. I have plenty of morbid fibres. I was an almost-goth at secondary school. Antisocial - only MODERATE? Guess that must be because I don't go around stealing things, beating people up etc. Thank God I'm not Dependent. I was rooting for a low score on that one (not that I consciously set out to get it). And remember that, although genius need not necessarily be connected to so-called personality disorder, some of the *worst* people can also be some of the *best* people, despite being insufferable for longer than a 2-hour stretch. (not me, naturally)

" If you’re having problems with math, it’s not that you haven’t been shown how to do it, it’s that you have a mental disease called Mathematical Anxiety Disorder (MAD). If you’ve experienced a series of oppressive events and still live in a rather dismal existence, the policies that keep that sort of environment together isn’t the problem, it’s a mental condition called Poverty Induced Trauma (PIT). If you have an inordinate prejudice against someone else because of a combination of culture, ethnicity, and skin color, then you’re not a racist. You have a mental condition called Ridiculous Assumptions Causing Extremism (RACE). " ( from ~ http://thejosevilson.com/blog/2007/10/28/everyones-got-their-doctorate-now/ ~ ) IP: Logged |
