Robert Owen only paints clowns as far as I know. Found a photo of my print on ebay recently, problem is the seller cut off 2 of the heads! Mine has seven clown heads floating in the clouds. W/Emmet Kelly on board. It has a surreal/macabre/bad clown feel to it. Obviously I love that.IP: Logged |

Watching The Age of Innocence in a theater was the first time I saw this. The director Martin Scorsese gave it a long moment of film time. Daniel Day Lewis is standing w/ his back to the camera looking at it- and the large painting fills the entire frame. I bought a print of it. (much smaller!) It is called~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Duel after the Masquerade 1857 IP: Logged |

Which segues for me into my rant about the demise of Album cover Art. With the continued shrinking of packaging. With most peeps IPOD-ing it, the art is sometimes never seen.

Aphrodite: TY for sharing, "The Storm: has joyous movement. Ever since I viewed a "walking tour" of various cities in Italy [never been ] and consequently a showcase on Baroque Artist Bernini I have wanted this detail of one of his huge sculptures. Baroque is said to be all about movement nothing static about it. And no one seems to have captured, in marble, action - quite like Bernini. It is called "The rape of Proserpina" (by Pluto) Not exactly a female friendly situation, but the whole sculpture expresses a moment so fraught with emotion and movement, that the viewer is entranced by the artisans ability to relate it in such an unmaluable medium. * Interestingly a Cardinal commissioned the sculpture. Course in that day they were the ones other than the Royalty w/ fat cash.

I'm not finding a really good image for the full length. (and the shack will upload) To put it in perspective, if viewed from the left side you can actually see the skin on Pluto's forehead squished back by her hand. IP: Logged |

Interesting choice, Node I love to look at sculpture, although I’m quite uneducated concerning same….. Here’s a couple more views of your Bernini, and a description: The Rape of Proserpina shows beautifully what a master Bernini was with stone. He integrated fabulous detail in these figures, enough to make one forget he was even using stone and not soft malleable clay to create this sculpture. He shows Proserpina’s lips, slightly opened, as if she were screaming and begging for help. Upon closer examination, one would notice the delicately crafted marble tears that look as though they are literally dripping down her face. Her face is so realistic it truly looks as if she is in agony and could scream. The way Pluto’s hands wrap around Proserpina gives the impression that his fingers are digging into her soft flesh. Bernini paid careful attention to detail, and again upon closer inspection, the viewer should notice the lifelike fingers and flesh he added to this piece. IP: Logged |

Zala: Well...for me I can disambiguate {if that's a word} or detach from the whole and focus on the detail pic I like. Then, it becomes something else entirely, in my mind. It is every womans greatest fear...I just look at the detail/genius. Isn't it fascinating how it changes? with a few inches difference of the camera? Amazing! IP: Logged |

YES! Finally a chance to discuss art Lol! Notice that the pictures and sculptures thus far posted have such a strong emphisis on movement. Seems like the eye can get so tired running laps around the whole piece Lol!The one I have in my Bedroom ATM is a bit more oriental influenced combined with the European Romantic period. Its called the "Garden Gate" T.C. Chiu. Its more a print then the actual painting. Notice again the movement in the pic and its not just the path but rather the trees and the shrubs that allow the eye to flow along the picture and admire the different colours in it. It so perfectly... balanced. Very Libra Lol! IP: Logged |

This is the first adult poster I ever bought. I own nothing original = $! One day I plan on painting over it, thickly with the paints, and making it my own. And no, I do not paint. It is a large copy and satisfies my purple/green thang. Van Gogh - IrisesIP: Logged |
