Just wanted to let those friends who emailed me yesterday and today know that my email has been messed up all day. I can receive emails but I can't reply as Outlook is messing up and will not let me send out messages. I will reply as soon as I can. If anyone here sends me a moderator concern I am sorry, I cannot reply until this problem gets fixed. I will contact my internet server later today and see if it is a problem with them or Microsoft and hope I can get it straightened out. IP: Logged |

It's still messed up today so I am going to get on the phone right now. It occurred to me to try and send from Comcast email box last night instead of Outlook and yep, it's not sending either so the problem is with Comcast email. The internet grimlins keep rejecting my user name when sending but not when receiving. Hope I am not on hold at email tech support for an eternity. IP: Logged |

LOL Sattvic. I am so computer unsavvy in those things that if I attempted to change my whole operating system from IE to Linux I would screw up the whole computer and then not have a clue as to how to restore it. Just the thought of that gives me an anxiety attack. hee hee I contacted tech support and they discoved what the problem was and are working on correcting it. I was told they would call me when it is fixed. Seems that recent changes we made here is creating the email problem. We recently got Comcast Voice for our telephone server and it works off the computer and it's own modem. At the same time we installed networking. There are now two modems connected to my computer. The modems are not in sync and are getting conflicting messages. Why it suddenly started doing that after we have had no problem before is beyond me. So hopefully it gets fixed today. IP: Logged |

The sad part is that, since yesterday, I am forced to work on Windows. I had all my three computer loaded Linux, and have never worked on Windows in 7 8 months now, but since my sweetheart needs a web site developed using Flash, I have no option but to work on windows till I finish her work. Now - this is a first hand experience for me, how slow, and resource hungry Windows is., and how fast, reliable and free Linux is! Anyways......don't change anything till you are sure of the backups - that is important. ------------------ SattvicMoonz Home Page and Blog IP: Logged |

I've only known tech people to like Linux. I know I haven't considered Linux because I tend to like programs that aren't Linux compatible. Someday Linux will reach equal status, though, and that will be awesome.I'm glad you guys found your problem Mirandee. Shouldn't be long now I would think. If it does take awhile. I'm sure any of us could walk you through setting up internet email, which you could use despite your Outlook being shut down. IP: Logged |

I LOVE LINUX!!! And I wouldn't exactly call myself a techie. After I got used to it, I found like Moonie said, I prefer how fast and clean my computer runs. Hack free, Virus/Bug free, and Money free. What more can you ask for? Glad your email will be getting fixed soon Mirandee ------------------ The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. Acoustic, you should check out Ubuntu (Linux), it is very stable and easy to use as well. They send you free CD's, and to work on it (to surf internet), you can run it from CD no need to install.I run a Linux Server which makes things faster. ------------------ SattvicMoonz Home Page and Blog IP: Logged |

Thanks for the offer to help, AG. That is one of the things I do know how to do if need be. I have used both Yahoo and Hotmail emails but don't like either of them. Outlook is much easier when it comes to sending attachments etc. I have had very few problems with Outlook all the years I have been using it. I am a fixed sign. If I like something and it works for me I tend to stick with it for good. Like my husband for instance. LOL The problem is still not fixed. I will have to call tech support again tomorrow and go through the whole thing all over again. The first message I got when I gave the recorded message the phone number of my account was that Comcast is having service problems in my area and were working on getting that fixed. Maybe that interfered with their being able to get my email working. I have had no internet disruptions today though. The problem for all I know may be with the email and everyone in this area is experiencing it. Whatever it is must be bad because Comcast usually corrects problems real fast.

Leave it to a Taurus to be on top of her gadgets. I'm pretty much the same way, though I do feel the need for multiple email accounts for different things. The one with my name is assigned to Outlook, and I sign into Yahoo Messenger in order to keep an eye on my other favorite. I have a couple other marginal ones that I rarely check. IP: Logged |

I have been thinking that I might get a new email box just for moderator things at LL, AG. Would appreciate any suggestions on which web mails outside of hotmail and yahoo are the best and less trouble free. Also I am thinking it may be time to change my current email address. I normally do that every few years but the one I have now I have had for years. I do that because your email address goes out in forwards which can end up all over the world. So it's good to change it now and then. I would also like to get off a few mailing lists for political and environmental things. I think I am on too many of those lists to keep up with them. I have my box crammed everyday with those emails. I want to keep a few but not all of them. IP: Logged |

You and I are like peas in a pod I think. My favorite web mail would have to be Yahoo. I don't know if you've used it lately, but they updated it again not long ago. I don't know if it's the best or not, but it's the one I most use outside of Outlook. Actually, the reason I use that one most is because I generally turn on my Yahoo messenger, which I more attractive than MSN's. I am also on the mailing list for far too many things. I guess it's an impulse to stay informed, or to get deals I may need some day (which is almost never today). I may be even worse than you, though. I actually keep those emails until I'm bothered to get rid of them. I'm not a clean email box keeper. Every so often I'll do some major email deleting. IP: Logged |

AR! Said that because my husband just told me he heard on the radio that today is national Talk Like a Pirate Day. Why??? LOLJust remembered that I hadn't updated my email situation. On the third day ( I like the religious significance of that phrase ) I finally got hold of someone at Comcast who actually knew what they were doing and it didn't take long to fix it. What I was told by two other tech support people was impossible she said. She told me that the two modems are totally separate and do not communicate with each other. So Outlook is running smoothly again. The only two things not communicating were MSN network and Comcast. A setting at Comcast had to be adjusted. From one pea to another I am happy to be in that pod with you, AG. I will try Yahoo again at your advice. I haven't checked it out since they made changes and improved it. Thanks. IP: Logged |

LOL... what's Linux? Don't answer. It was rhetorical because even if you told me, I still wouldn't know. seriously. I wouldn't know. Ubuntu - Zulu word for "humanity" for a lack of a better word. It encompasses that theory that we are all one, and that a child is raised by the community.. etc. Linux sounds cool. But, I think I need to know how to use Vista first. Have a good one to you all.
