i am curious about colorblindnessare any of you colorblind? was this difficult for you as a child? it was discovered today that my kinder aged son is colorblind. he was tested at school as he has been getting pretty frustrated with coloring assignments. the results were pretty telling. i do plan to bring him to the eye doctor now to be evaluated for any other issues that we may need to be aware of and more information on this. i noticed the frustration long before his going to school but never even considered color blindness. any information or help with this would be greatly appreciated. thank you. -kyle ------------------ yes, im new -please be kind. I'm colorblind, but not of the same sort as your child. I've always been able to distinguish color. If I have any difficulty it's with distinguishing darker colors. I also sometimes see a shade a touch differently than someone else. I typically defer to the normally-sighted person. The difference isn't usually that great.IP: Logged |

All the guys in my family are completely or to some degree. Except my son and some of his generation of cousins. I am too in one eye to some degree even though female. Luckily I did not pass it on to my son.------------------ "Heaven doesn't want me and Hell is afraid I'll take over and start a rehab for the damned!" ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~ ~ if you keep doing what you did, you'll keep getting what you got.~ Everything changes. Um, being female the odds are slim to none that this would affect me personally. It does however run in families. My family is no exception. My father and his brother are both quite colorblind. Our doctor has informed us that it passes hereditary through the mothers genes entirely. This being said I've had concern for my own three children. So far it seems we're clear though. I do recall learning in our high school science class something along the lines of colorblind soldiers were a commodity during World War II as they could easily distinguish from the air people in camoflauge [they see shades at a much stronger level than the average Joe] Where I would see only trees, those with colorblindness could recognize clearly different shades amongst the trees. This seems to be a positive attribute to this supposed deficiency of the eyes. I'm sure there are more to be found at a spiritual level as well. Both my father and uncle seem to have a great eye for intricate detail. Studies have shown that men with colorblindness tend to have an overall higher average IQ as well. Maybe because they practice viewing things harder than most? Who knows? There are said to be clear advantages to this deficiency. I hope this has helped in someway. You can learn more and take a free test online here. ------------------ Sendin' love your way, "your friend in spirit" : IP: Logged |

yourfriendinspirit I tend to agree with you. All the males in my family including the deceased ones, had/have IQs between 140 and over 200. And yes, distinguishing shades seems to be a skill they have. There are different types of it also.------------------ "Heaven doesn't want me and Hell is afraid I'll take over and start a rehab for the damned!" ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~ ~ if you keep doing what you did, you'll keep getting what you got.~ Everything changes.
