Crazy for Grape Pop Tarts?- Thought Coke Blak was the greatest addition ever to your energy drink cooler?
- Dine on MickeyD's MacRib in the glow of the Supersize Me film you set on fire?
- Shop at CompUSA? Or Bombay Co.?
Don't sob into your little pillow too hard. These products will meet they're demise in '08.

Interesting read, Thank you Node I didn't recognize any of the grocery food products... so I suppose I will not miss those ones afterall, LOL! Levitz furniture will no longer be sending me junk mail! (This could be a good thing) It's always sad to see businesses go under and or being taken over... Seems in my little railroad rustic town a walmart has begun it's property purchasing. Like 1000's of other towns across the nation, we too, will see many small businesses fold and crumble locally. IP: Logged |

Happy New Year YFIS! If you found some of that interesting you might find this http://www.madcowprod.com/index48bb.html interesting as well. I had heard that Levitz was a shady operation. One of the Grandsons used to frequent a restaurant I worked for. The above article reads like 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon. They have filed chapter. 11 a couple times...and most recently replaced the CEO's with a man holding a proven track record, and stellar resume. But, it was probably too little, too late. As far as small business closures being sad. I have worked for 3. Two of them [restaurants] went under in '06. So I lost both jobs due to poor management. But every closure has a long, and a short story. Wally World [my fond name for the corporate viral plague] moved an existing store to a location 1 mi. away from me. It will be interesting to watch how this store affects local retail. The traffic patterns from the traffic into the store has already had an impact on locals [like me!] I had to alter my driving routes. The following statement is unsubstantiated 'cos I don't remember where I read it, nor do I remember the manufacturer. I read that a lawn mower manufacturer was asked by WalMart to alter his design to lower the cost of the machine. He refused. And lost the sale to Wally World. In his statement I remember him saying that the alterations would decrease the efficiency - and longevity of the product. The old you get what you pay for Since then, I have always wondered if other WalMart products have been tinkered with to allow the retailer to sell it at a much lower price than the competitors.??? Re: Coke Blak - I tried that one . In concept it sounded OK, and if done properly could have been like a Tiramisu flavor in a glass. Alas it tasted like :IP: Logged |

Thanks, Node. Very interesting. I saw a show on tv about McDonalds. They have a dept that is constantly developing new recipes. They then offer them to the public and they said some of them make it and others don't. I didn't recognize Coke Blak either. Guess they just market tested it in certain areas because I have never seen it on the shelf or seen it advertised here in Michigan. YUCK at the thought of it. LOL I like Coke, drink a couple of bottles a day, and I like my coffee but I think I prefer them separately. IP: Logged |
