Does anyone know the most economical route to purchase or acquire MS Office? I am not sure if our computer is Win 2000 or XP. (I am at school right now). I just purchased more books for $200 and a dissection kit for $27 today, in addition to the hundreds of $$ I've already spent on books and fees this semester, so I am trying to find MS Office for cheap or better yet, for free. I mainly need Word and Powerpoint. If anyone could give me advice on how to get this, please. Thank you so much for your time and consideration! IP: Logged |

There is a better and easy option, install Open Office. It comes free, with fantastic support, very stable software and have all functionalities of MS Office as well. Have better memory management as well. http://www.openoffice.org ------------------ Who cares? Do you? Would you? IP: Logged |

You can use that Neph. I would have pointed you in that direction, too. That's what I have on my home computer. It's free, and you can produce documents that can be opened in MSOffice. http://www.openoffice.org/ IP: Logged |

I will need to print lecture notes in MS Word format and Powerpoint format before my classes. My teachers won't be posting the notes until about the evenings before class......otherwise I would print them at school......... So as long as it lets me print these documents then it will work. Will download and try. Thanks and will report back to you guys. IP: Logged |

OK. Downloaded, installed, etc. The only thing it took forever 'cos I have a very slow computer. So far so good! I was able to view Word documents and Powerpoint lecture. I saved the Powerpoint lecture. The only thing is I don't know how to use Powerpoint; so far I will only need to "view" all of the slides. How do I view them like they present them during lecture? Right now all I can do is click each one individually one at a time to view them. It seems both softwares have a lot of details, choices, functions, etc. Right now I just don't have time to learn it, so far I just need to view and print so I'll take it one day at a time I guess. THANK YOU BOTH! I knew you guys would come through for me here! IP: Logged |

I never use Powerpoint or OpenOffice's equivalent, but I would search the menus at the top for something that seems like it might work. It looks like there's a Slide Show menu, and a Slide Show icon. I'm guessing both would set your presentation in motion.IP: Logged |
