I think it is normal to argue. If nobody argued once in a while, I think they would be more oppressed, less able to understand their feelings and the feelings of others. IP: Logged |

Of course it's natural for a free person to argue, and as long as you're being respectful then there shouldn't be a problem.IP: Logged |

There's no way to avoid the occasional conflict. We go through them every year or so. If I have to make an upopular decision regarding someone, that person always has at least a few friends who then will no longer view the whole picture. You can't correct a myopic view unless the person chooses to see. So the appearance of bias cannot be avoided. I used to moderate each Forum myself. I chose to spread the responsibility to several others, and I also wanted to give the most loyal Members a chance to give back. ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." I think the thing with people is, they just want the chance to say what they are feeling when they are hurt or upset by something. Once they are clensed of that, they can move on, move away from the negativity and towards a new understanding. We are all biased in some way. We are humans. We make no sense, yet all the sense in the world... We are shameful and wonderful. Bitter and sweet. Simple and complex, and none, NONE of us is without flaw. At the end of the day, we can only be who we are and accept what we will... hopefully each day we become more of who we are, and accept more than we once could. By "accept", I don't mean lay down and take something we don't agree with, but to ACCEPT that we are not the same as any other human out there, but still as deserving of understanding and acceptance... ...rambling again...and I got sticky orange peel fingers on my keyboard... the thing about Randall is.....here's my story ~ if there's anyone Randall could hold a bias against, it is i. i registered at this site in 2001, made some posts, and then registered at Gregory's site (loved him very much). at that time Randall was an active member there as well. we had some good conversations, and then, as per usual, we had some disagreements in the "GU" sense. these spilled over into some personal disagreements and arguments, and i said some quite unkind things there. later, as things were difficult in my personal life, i deleted all my posts here. and soon after Randall ceased posting almost altogether at Gregory's site. i continued posting there until a new babe consumed all my time, and i didn't return to this site even to browse for more than 2 years. finally some deep prompting or stirring compelled me to return to this site, and i re-registered 5 or so years ago (i've changed my screen name a few times, for various reasons). when i did so, i did state that i was a returned member, but i was so conscious of the previous energy between us, that i didn't identify who i had been -- even when Randall asked, though he also stated at the time that is was ok for me to remain anonymous if i wished...and i did. it wasn't until a few years later that i actually had nerve enough to send an email to him apologising for the rift that had occurred and relating my original screen name. and i know that email was very difficult for him to accept. if Randall were so "biased" and grudge holding and all that...he'd have never made me a moderator here. some of our views remain widely disparate i'm sure...but i do know that we both have an abiding love and respect for LG and the path she unveiled for us, and thus we remain "kindred spirits." he's a good guy, ya'll. That's a nice story of reconciliation, but it doesn't change the fact that he can disrespect someone with immunity. Once again, when I reflect upon the site his input does not stand out as what defines LL. The community's input stands out as what defines LL.I'm not disagreeing with your assertion that he's a good guy. I'm merely pointing out that his emotional reactions don't vary much from anyone else's around here. Only difference is that he's got some buttons, and can demand loyalty where others cannot. Acoustic God ~ i didn't see the deleted thread in question. Randall makes decisions that perhaps go beyond the surface of appearances. as he has said, those decisions may not be popular or easy.it's inevitable that our communication styles sometimes clash. it's good to remember that sometimes. i think you're a great guy AG, and i value your presence here very much. i am impressed at your ability to go beyond some of the previous debacles here. and i appreciate and admire your compassion too, so i understand your need to champion some of these issues. Thank you for your kind words. Regarding decisions that aren't easy, there's one thing that most of us do when faced with a difficult decision, especially where lots of people are influenced by the decision. I personally don't get the impression that it's happening. IP: Logged |

AG, if you are disappointed in the product, I will gladly refund your money. Oh wait, that's right, you didn't pay anything. You guys are something else. In any other site on the Net, you would have all (the few who I reference by simply stating "all") been banned long ago. I've never seen so much griping and complaining since grade school. You b*tch and moan about the negativity, but the ones b*tching and moaning are the ones making the site negative. This is almost freakin' hilarious. I don't know any of you, but I can gather from what I see that you thrive on drama. Zanya, you rock! I was an ass back then. I can really sympathize with what Gregory had to put up with now that I have my own ass parade to deal with. But you definitely rock. ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. Just try to imagine your reaction if someone had said this to you. Your language here is more dramatic and inflammatory than anything I've seen all day. Is zanya going to call you out on it? You bet she isnt. If this was any other site but yours, who do you suppose would be the first one banned?

yes, i could, but won't. as i said to AG, our communication styles here will sometimes clash. he hasn't addressed anyone personally with untoward names.there was a time here, long ago, that i became utterly distressed at the use of the word "hate". and i gave Randall a good "what for" about that. i don't have to do that...people engage in all different kinds of colloquial talk, and they bring their experiences here. it's what makes it interesting. don't pick on all the little peccadillos HSC, your talent is wasted on that. It would be a moot issue, bro, because people like you wouldn't be here. Instigators have boring lives and have to create drama on-line where they don't have to deal with the face-to-face interactions of real life. The question is: Who are the instigators? And yes, I'm getting more fiery. ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. Randall, I understand well that you are not obliged to explain anthing to me. I didn't demand an answer, I only requested one. I also see that you have been put on the LL defense stand. I've been there myself and, whether earned or not, it is a most uncomfortable position. More importantly, it's not conducive to a reasonable exchange.I'm sure things will calm down soon. IP: Logged |

I'm only on the defense stand, because I choose to salvage some of these Knowflakes who would probably otherwise support me had their friends not been the object of my decisions. But I am readily losing both my patience and tolerance. Thank you for those words of wisdom, though, TINK. Very wise, indeed. ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. I know of only one person on this thread who has been banned before, and that person went on to create LL. quote: Who are the instigators?
