I quite like the "live" version of songs. Is this because the artist absorbs the love and energy of their audience? I think so. ------------------ Oneness is this: we are separate, yet inseparable, individual yet interconnected; each and every being made of the same inner essence. When you hurt another, you hurt a part of yourself; when you heal another, you heal a part of yourself. "Futuretalk". Well worth watching: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3463651819075030503&q=futuretalk&ei=eT0XSKi_EIOMjAKE_vXYBg IP: Logged |

Most definitely! You've read Celestine Prophecy - I think that energy exchange happens in bucket loads due to the amount of attention you have when on stage because people are "forced" to pay attention due to the fact that you're performing. IP: Logged |

I'd call it more of an exchange of energy...IP: Logged |

David Wilcock mentioned in his "Futuretalk" interview, that the reason a lot of celebrities have break downs is because they miss the attention (like when it becomes lessened or tainted by the press). They miss that exchange of energy. The key, I suppose, is not to become too attached? IP: Logged |

The first time I got a good impression of Bruce Springstein was while watching video of him live in concert. He looked as if he was having a religious experience. I thought that was awesome.Do musicians absorb an audience's energy? I believe that they do. The audience really loosens up the performers, and validates their creativity and execution. IP: Logged |

i agree, in a super lesser degree, i feel like i do when i perform with my band (because i'm no celebrity... ). i'm normally super lethargic and before and after the performance i'm so low-key that no one thinks i'm someone who goes on the stage. but on stage i get this supportive energy from the crowd, and i think i also give it to them as well. i feel that it's THE exchange of energy that keeps the performance prominent. i don't feel like i'm a star or anything, i just feel that there is this mutual give and take of enthusiasm and it makes me feel happy in a non-egoistical way. it's a really good experience, especially for someone like me who NEEDS others' energy to feel alive.IP: Logged |

Oh yes, definitely. And if it is bad or uninterested, they absorb that too. I remember that I was playing at a birthday party for a 90 year old guy once, and no one was paying attention to us at all. it wasn't our best show, to say the least. lolIP: Logged |

Interesting idea - there have been performers I've seen that look old when getting onstage but 2 minutes into the show they transform completely and are young, full of energy and 'glow'.It's fun to watch. IP: Logged |

An exchange, definitely. It's why I find some dance clubs and concerts very invigorating. It's similar in many ways to bonding with nature. It's a different form of bonding. Interesting enough, I've heard from some who claim to be "psi vamps" that absorb such energy, but they sound like they're doing what I'm doing, only I'm seeing it as sharing the energy rather than absorbing it. I wonder if one really can absorb without giving anymore than we can breathe oxygen without exhaling carbon dioxide. Music is also very much like mysticism, and can have all the same effects: laughter, tears, altered states, even madness (temporary), and magic. And I mean ordinary music, not music designed for religious or mystical experiences.
Actually, I experimented with E while dancing, and found that I actually get higher (and/or enjoy it more) when I dance myself into an altered state sober than high. And once when the Everlasting Dream by Love Like Blood came on, I vaguely recalled that this was one of my favorites when I was a teen, and I'd listen to it over and over. And then it switched to the more complex musical intro, the endorphins went wild in my brain, with bumps rising all over my body. And speaking of music DESIGNED for mysticism, there's this talking about "Goddess chant": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beoWx9pkUCY
I don't see it as being "restricted to Goddess chants." Still, I can relate because one of the most poignant experiences I had in my life was singing the Goddess chant (like this, only ours had more energy, was more rustic, and a different tone) with others many years ago, feeling the energy build between us, and then shoot out and we fell exhausted, and with a feeling not unlike being stoned (and no, we were not on any drugs, legal or otherwise). Something I recorded after coming home late on 11/24/04: Ayn Rand said not to waste time working for those who waste or don't value what you do. Just do menial work or nothing at all. Even better, shrug. That was the best thing to do. Shrug. (I hope her followers realized that was good advice for her disciples, too!) The best thing? That's what a friend of mine says, who says that's what Ayn Rand says. He's wrong. (So is Ayn Rand.) The best thing is to get lost in a trance, dancing, mindless of the sweat as it builds up a film around you, sticking to your clothes..... and so what if.... they're all around..... the broken people hallow and feeble.... even those jerks that pat you down for water so they can sell you a tiny 50 cent bottle for $3.50...... they're all around.... they do biz with you, govern you, guide you, beg of you, rob you...... they're all around..... but as long as you can dance...... it's so sweet. Everything. Especially when Apoptygma Berserk does a mix off this Switchblade Symphony classic...... Broken people Hollow and feeble They're rolling Rolling up the hill Rotten ingrate Stupid mistakes They're rolling Rolling up the hill Wishing wells and cockle shells They swim throughout my head My eyes are closing slowly As I'm lowering my head Wanting and getting Silent setting They're rolling Rolling up the hill Robbing and burning Wasted learning They're rolling Rolling up the hill
Wishing wells and cockle shells They swim throughout my head My eyes are closing slowly As I'm lowering my head Breaking in In my eyes I can't see like this I can't let go Please help me down I can't be like this Seeing (Fearing) them Them all around How can they be so sweet? Sweet They panic so Just hold them down I could live like this I'm closing in Hey, all around I could be like this Hearing them Them in my head How can they be so sweet? Sweet They're all around Hey, hear me say They're all around, yeah They're all around Hey, hear me say They're all around, yeah They're all around Hey, hear me say How can they be so sweet? Sweet They're all around (Breaking in) All around (In my eyes) All around I can't see like this) They're all around (I can't let go) All around (Please help me down) All around (I can't be like this) They're all around (Seeing them) All around (Them all around) They're all around (How can they be) They're so sweet Sweet --Switchblade Symphony, Sweet And that's all I have to say right now. <Shrug> IP: Logged |

Yes, I agree with all of the above! I'm in no way a professional at all. I was in the honor choir, marching band, honors band, etc..etc.. back in school. And I played a little in my 20's, but I miss it so much. I would love to take up playing my horn again if I had the chance. But I remember back in choir when we would perform and when I had my solo's. It's amazing how completely horrified I was to get on stage in front of all those people. But once I'd get going, it was a true high. The room is full of people who are all focused on you. And I remember wanting to cry that first time. And music was my reason for getting up in the morning. I truely lived for it. It's probably what kept me out of drugs and what not when I was young. Music is such a natural high! My first love!!
