I do NOT believe that!
However perhaps we different ones exist to teach tolerance and acceptance to others.

Some people seem to get tougher paths through life than others through no fault of their own.

Being gay, well, as a friend of mine put it he wouldn't have picked it if he had had the option, it wasn't the easiest way to work his way through adolescence. He lived in a mining town just to make things a bit tougher.
