I had chest infection in the last week of this January. It happened that I didn't smoked for 24 hours. I decided that if I can live without one for 24 hours I can live without one rest of my life. Haven't smoked since then.

Isn't it ironic.

Yves saint Laurent - of fashion house YSL - my former cigarette brand, died today from Cancer.

That was creepy.

last year, in the beginning of february, a friend asked me if i wanted to join team in training to do a 100 mile bike around lake tahoe for leukemia/lymphoma society.

i was all in. i smoked!! one woman we were doing the ride had just lost her 8 year old son to leukemia. we live around chicago so we would be going up in elevation making the ride a touch bit more difficult than those who live at a higher elevation.

i trained, i smoked. then it hit me, i am doing a 100 mile ride for l&l. so i quit. i did the gum for a couple of weeks and quit that. i had been smoking for 25 years.

that's all she wrote!! i will have a drag or two once in a while and i do not miss it.

Char...

Are you good? I almost smoked today. I almost got up and bought a *loose* LMAO!! Now it's 01:00AM and I am still craving so I am getting more gum tomorrow because I thought I didn't need it anymore.

My skin looks so much better and I look better except that I am "fuller" at the moment. I am still wearing the same size clothes but I am curvier especially up North.

So, are you going to the gym or something?

I think that is my only option, to work out, but I won't go to the gym. I was thinking of dancing like an hour or two a day. 2 hour cradio is good right?

So tell me how you are doing?

Hi Unmoved

Stay strong please!! I get a craving now and then but as I said before i distract myself by doing something else. It's mind over matter. My skin looks good too and it's looking rounder

I know you're a vegan so you do eat healthy but are you eating foods with all that sugary goodness ( sorry, i have a sweet tooth) as well? Going to the gym or some sort of work out would be benificial. I do yoga and go running on the beach with my dogs. My thighs are getting broader though but I could do with some more insulation especially now in winter

Dancing is an excellent idea! Fun and a work out

We'll get through it.

Baie sterkte

PS. Keep me posted

thank you!! i wish you all good luck with yours too!

i guess i'm a lucky one, but i recently went through a drastic change in my living environment. here i cannot buy hand-rolling tobacco and cigarettes are cheap, but still compared to hand-rolling if i smoke as much as i used to (20-40/day) that will add up. also i don't drink and go out anymore and don't have any friends here (which is boring and sad) so smoking is half the fun. also i live with people who despise smoke, in this rural town where the nature is beautiful.

smoke kind of disgusts me even, and i have no desire to smoke now. i tried to finish the pack i had but it was hard!

i'm afraid i will probably resume smoking once i go back to europe, but that won't be for a while and in any case i'll probably try to reduce. but i'm quite surprised that i don't seem to be addicted to nicotine, though i was inclining toward the heavy-smoker side...

sooo, from this experience, i suggest you all to go camping in the forest and spend a week without smoking! the air is fresh and you may just get used to the unpolluted air and find cigarette smoke disgusting like i do now?

quote:

Is there anyone her that would like to share their experiences when they decided to quit smoking?

I was absolutely addicted to nicotine for 12 years... I hit 30 and said if I don't stop, I will die painfully...

I used the Nicorette nicotine gum for like 6 months to stop smoking... You WILL get addicted to the gum too, but, during that time you will break the PSYCHOLOGICAL habit of smoking... Your lungs will also heal...

Then you need to withdraw from the nicotine gum... Be very careful not to start over-eating during this time... Weigh yourself every Sunday... If you see yourself starting to gain weight, cut back 250 calories a day... (Yes, you'll actually have to count calories)... If you don't, you end up gaining weight which means high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes - almost as bad as the smoking health problem you were trying to quit in the first place...

Visit your doctor for a checkup while you're at it...

GOOD LUCK!
