ROFL I don`t think there`s too much risk that he will bore you with poetry.

Or as it has been sung in a song: "The poem of your body was enough for me."

Nothing if it is good and/or heartfelt.

Bad if it is pretentious cr@p.

And there are more interesting things to do with a hotel suite and a free weekend.

No, wait a minute, just read me Ode to a Grecian Urn one more time.

This is James Purefoy in Rome, btw. He took the part of Mark Anthony.

* hope this isn't too risque for LL, it is a movie still, all perfectly respectable, etc, honestly *

O.K, read me your poem, no need to get upset.

I'll pour myself another drink while I'm waiting. I mean listening.

quote:
Russell Crowe apologized to British television producer, Malcolm Gerrie, after Crowe "accosted" the producer who cut a poem Crowe recited during an acceptance speech. Crowe won the BAFTA –Britain’s equivalent to the Oscars- for Best Actor for his role in A Beautiful Mind and during his acceptance speech he recited a poem by the late Irish poet Patrick Kavanaugh called "Sanctity." The poetry reading was trimmed due to time constraints and Crowe roughed up Gerrie at a post-awards dinner at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. He mistakenly believed Gerrie was responsible for the cutting of the poem. Crowe shoved Gerrie up against a wall and labeled him a "f------ piece of s---."

Crowe allegedly said, "I don’t five a f--- who you are. Who on earth had the f------ audacity to take out the Best Actor’s poem." During interviews the next day Crowe seemed unrepentant. That may have been a bad move on Crowe’s part. Academy voters received their ballots the day the news of Crowe’s attack broke and some say his behavior may have left a bad taste in their mouths. Crowe, who has a history of obnoxious behavior, may be back peddling with his apology to Gerrie. He called Gerrie Saturday morning and, as reported in London’s Sun newspaper said, "My language was excessive because I was livid [and] I behaved inappropriately. I was overreacting because I felt passionately about it at the time." Gerrie told the Sun, "I told him I didn’t get any satisfaction out of the whole situation, and if he wanted to make it up to any of my family he could speak to my son. He then spoke to [my son] Oliver for about 15 minutes and told him about the making of Gladiator."

Crowe’s entire acceptance speech, including the poem "Sanctity," was left "intact for international broadcasts." E! will air the BAFTAs Saturday at 8PM, including Crowe’s entire acceptance speech, poem and all.

Sanctity by Patrick Kavanagh

quote:

To be a poet and not know the trade,
To be a lover and repel all women;
Twin ironies by which great saints are made,
The agonising pincer-jaws of heaven.

It's short ~ they could have left it in and left out some of the MC's wisecracks. Too late now.

James Purefoy, now there is a work of art.

I've always been attracted to him, ever since the first time i saw him in A Knight's Tale. I don't know what it is about him...

The weird thing is, he shares his birthday with my brother (but my brother was born in 1995, so their placements are different). But still... yeah..

I'm going to be lazy again and just type his general placements instead of posting his chart ^_^

Sun in Gemini
Moon in Pisces
Mercury in Taurus
Venus in Cancer
Mars in Taurus
Jupiter in Taurus
Saturn in Pisces
Uranus in Virgo
Neptune in Scorpio
Pluto in Virgo

Mmm mmm good!

Yeah, Russel does nothing for me. In all honesty, i would be upset if my speech was cut off, but i wouldn't attack anyone! That goes against what poetry stands for in itself! Poetry can be violent, and razor sharp, and it can paralyze and destroy. But it does so through words, not actions, that's part of it's beauty. Der, Russel!

"Criminal"

He became necessary.

Essential.

Black to my blue.

Blood to my bruise.

His taste lingers in my mouth now

like a sickly silver smoke,

Not thick enough to choke on

but bittersweet to taste.

I allowed him to tantalize

my eager eyes.

To summon my avid fingers.

And now i cannot wash away

what he feels like

beneath my hands.

A map of his every curve

rests in my palm.

His scent is a sorrowful souvenir

soiled in my skin.

A constant reminder

of the sin i have committed.

It's a work in progress, so be gentle when you give your constructive criticism... please...

It has edge. If my opinion is worth anything, I would suggest for working in progress paring it down rather than adding to it, I have a feeling that would make it starker and more intimidating for the reader.

Now Russell's poem, I'd love to know how that fitted into his speech maybe I should do a YouTube search. How it fits in with his appraisal of his role is a discussion I would love to have, because I'm not sure it was the same motivation as spurred Kavanagh to write it. So that is something I would love to know. Or maybe as some cheeky whippersnapper has said on LL, I know nothing about art, another possibility (though a poem written about losing your father applied to whether or not to post on a website is stretching things a little, I did feel, though this critique was not well received).

Do you like P.J Harvey? I recall listening to an interview where she says people often miss the humour in her lyrics, but I doubt they miss the intensity.

quote:
He came riding fast like a phoenix out of fire flames
He came dressed in black with a cross bearing my name
He came bathed in light and the splendor and glory
I can't believe what the lord has finally sent me

He said dance for me, fanciulla gentile
He said laugh awhile, I can make your heart feel
He said fly with me, touch the face of the true God
And then cry with joy at the depth of my love

'Cause I've prayed days, I've prayed nights
For the lord just to send me home some sign
I've looked long, I've looked far
[ Find more Lyrics at www.mp3lyrics.org/CnQF ]
To bring peace to my black and empty heart

Ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, aaaaaah !

My love will stay 'till the river bed run dry
And my love lasts long as the sunshine blue sky
I love him longer as each damn day goes
The man is gone and heaven only knows

'Cause I've cried days, I've cried nights
For the lord just to send me home some sign
Is he near ? is he far ?
Bring peace to my black and empty heart
So long day, so long night
Oh Lord, be near me tonight
Is he near ? is he far ?
Bring peace to my black and empty heart.

The Dancer, I like this one, I sing along to this, in tune but with the tone of a teenage boy with identity problems.

Now this I totally get. A classic English gentleman (though he doesn't look very English to me, he looks more French. Maybe he has that in his ancestry, his name would suggest so, and it isn't that uncommon here.) Offering him the part of Beau Brummell was an inspired piece of casting (you may not have seen this, it was on U.K T.V) and I'm not surprised he has been rumoured as a possible Bond.

But there is something deeper going on, just check out the chart:

Moon in Pisces, Venus in Cancer, possibly Trine, that is a gentle and sweet combination. The T-Square action with the Sun at the apex is also interesting. I wonder how the Moon links in, how close to Saturn. I think he is a humble person, and although that might be hard for him to carry in life as he may well be his own worst critic, it is what makes him come across as an English gentleman, not an arrogant, posh tosser. And hence treading the boards, not sitting in the House of Commons. Just my view, now. I could be reading him wrong.

Any striking synastry? I'm sure there is, I'll have to check out your chart again.

Yes, the poem i wrote in 2 minutes actually. It's the product of self-disgust. I think you're aware of... my current "circumstances" shall we say. But i normally re-write/edit a poem at least a dozen times before i'm satisfied. I re-wrote that piece only 3 times, so it's a work in progress!

Thanks for the advice though.

I love P.J. Harvrey. Really. Have you heard her duet with Thom Yorke from Radiohead? Called "This mess we're in". Love that song. She's got true integrity, and she's wonderfully blunt.

Now, here's the real kicker. After you asked me if we had an interesting synastry, i did out chart and this is what i got:

*GASP* Do you see what i'm seeing?!!?? I'm seeing a Grand Square, a Grand Trine, and a big fat "X" in the middle! Yikes! I don't think i've ever seen that in a synastry chart before. Any of it. The Square, The Trine, The "X". Maybe in a natal chart, but never a synastry chart. I wonder if there's anything on the net about it...

We have a Venus/Mars sextile, me being Venus, he being Mars. That would explain the instant attraction. What else... Mars conjunct Mars... umm, His Venus is opposite my Uranus. That's not good. Not in the long run anyways. Doesn't that make the love inconstant? The love goes through hot and cold spells. The feelings change. He loves me, he loves me not. Especially with the opposition.

I don't know, this feels awfully intense. I'm getting that vibe, i don't know why. I never thought of James as heavy. When i thought of him it was always the way you described him, in all honesty. Genuine, generous, humble, sensitive, and taken for granted. I don't think anyone really realizes what a talent he's got. He probably doesn't either. SO for me to look at this chart, and read what i'm reading, and get that vibe... well, it just seems out of character for him. It seems like i would bring out something in him that's not usually there. ... I'm not sure if i would consider that good or bad.

What about your synastry with James? Have you looked yet? Good? Bad? Ugly?

Let me look here...

Sun Conjunct Sun, Oh my God! You have Mars/Venus conjunct. Venus trine Pluto. I give up. I might as well throw in the towel now. Wait.. i can't see your degrees because your chart is so SMALL! I think there might be a Sun/Moon square... it might be too wide, i don't know. Oh, Sun trine Mars, Venus/Uranus square possibly. Still can't read. You'll have to clarify all of this with me.

He's not what i typically go for. Look at him. He's not feminine. He's not emotional. He's not secretive. He's rugged. He's manly. He's aware of his effect on women. He likes women. He likes to romance women. Where is the jealousy? Where is the possessiveness? Where is the strain, despair and melancholy? Do you see it, because i don't.

These are the things i've found myself being attracted to in a person. In a possible significant other. He doesn't offer me any of these things... hmm... maybe that's what i would pull out of him. Ahh, what an interesting idea. I think i like that. I'll have to swirl that around in my mouth for a while...

after a couple of day's absence (my computer is not a happy camper at the moment and i'm on the old slow one for now) i have returned to this.

yes, yes, yes.

james is just gorgeous. of course, he's everything opposite to what you like - so, naturally, i'm going to like him. loved him in a knight's tale. watching that - i didn't even register heath or even paul bettany. came out of it wanting to know who this guy was. very very handsome. looking at his chart - i don't see any magic there synastry wise - but i'm not feeling it - he's just a really great looking man.

PA,

FINALLY! Thou hast returned!

"of course, he's everything opposite to what you like - so, naturally, i'm going to like him."

...Sad, but true...

"looking at his chart - i don't see any magic there synastry wise - but i'm not feeling it - he's just a really great looking man."

Explain this... are you speaking of the synastry i posted with him above, or are you comparing him to your chart?

Here, this is PA & James

Double whammy of Moon/Neptune, His Venus sextiles your Saturn, squares your Uranus and trines your Jupiter. Your Venus is unaspected though... hmm.. Mars conjunct Mars. There you go. Oh, and Mars opposite Neptune.

Hope you don't mind that i posted the chart. If you don't want it there i'll take it down.

astrologically

his mercury and mars conjunct my mars, trine my pluto

his moon conjunct my north node

his venus conjunct my ic

his sun trine my moon

his pluto conjunct my south node

it's not bad, but nothing great.

I added some...

That Mars opposite Neptune insinuates romance, and spirituality, correct? But the opposition also suggests... hmm.. deception?

Being a Leo, sometimes i have to make things dramatic. It's in my being. ^_^

hi meta

semi-returned. my computer is sick and i am using the old one (again).

i don't mind you posting the chart at all.

that mars opposite neptune - just from how i see him and relate to him - no feelings - just that he's a good looking man - and i think that's where it shows - idealising him physically. that's it. he's a very very good looking man.

i didn't include asteroids when i did the chart. so seeing his lust on my eros is really interesting. see - it's only physical - therefore, it has no real appeal to me - i need more to sustain the physical - the attraction has to come from some place else and be expressed physically. i'm not a lustful person.

Such a dirty mind you have Blue Moon! ...And i like it! ^_^

Look at your synastry. Pretty spunky if you ask me. Mars conjunct Venus, Sun conjunct Sun, Sun square Pluto, Venus opposite Neptune.

How close is the conjunction between your Mars/Venus?

so seeing his lust on my eros is really interesting.

I have my Eros on his Sun. Hmm... i wonder what kind of messages i'm sending him? Whoops! But then again, he has his Adonis on my Sun, so maybe we're a little bit even...

Only physical, eh? Even though he's the opposite of what i normally like? Hmm.. i have my suspicions...

He's actually really emotional. I read this interview with him about Rome, and during the interview he almost cried 3 different times. *Dreamy sigh*... Oh James, you poor tortured artist you.

Blue Moon,

I don't know why, but i'm really aggravated by the Venus/Mars conjunct you two share. I'm green. With envy. I don't know why!!!

I never even paid that much attention to him before. I mean yeah, i was attracted to him, but i never had a crush on him. So why is this bothering me now? Why does it matter?

I feel like... i don't know how to describe it.

I feel threatened. Yes. That's it. But.. BAHH!!! It makes no sense!!!!!

... i think meta needs a time out... *slumps in computer chair*
