Ugh umm... *clears throat* *Puts on English accent* To answer your question, Ralph Fiennes did such a movie because he feels he has been type-cast. He feels that no one thinks that he is capable of doing more than the "tortured artist" roles in dramas. So, he thought that a comedy would perhaps open up new oppurtunities for him. And also, he was intrigued because he had never done a role like that before. You might also note that Maid in Manhattan is not the only comedy he has been in. He did a remake of The Avengers, with Uma Thurman, which was a farce. And also, he signed on to do The Chumscrubbers because he was under the impression that the film WAS a comedy, but it turned out to be a black comedy and more of a drama in the end.

Oh boy, I wasn`t feeling to great and quite lonely over the last days, and the reason for this being that reality sipped through to the haze of my infatuated mind, and reality is, that he man of my dreams has a girlfriend.
