at the medical history museum in Berlin, they have these preserved human lungs showing many different symptoms of diseases. from the lungs of mine workers to lungs with abnormalities, except for smoker's lungs. i supposed that they didn't wanna scare the smokers with the bitter reality...IP: Logged |

Here in New Zealand they have a TV ad where a guy is saying that smoking wasn't worth it... he can't speak properly and he has this thing inserted through his throat... I don't know what it is but it's pretty gross. IP: Logged |

Back in the days he smoked in the house (before we had kids) my husband smoked his way through an ad like that. He didn't blink. He would rather die than not smoke. Given the choice he would rather go without food than cigarettes. He has done this in the past when money was tight.

My ex husbands mother smoked and got pneumonia. They put her on a ventilator under sedation. Then they tie your hands. Then they wake you up. If you have ever seen a human being with sheer terror in their eyes wondering what was happening....let me tell you, it is not a sight for the faint hearted. And that was her last memory of this life. The memory of her eyes pleading to be rescued will haunt me forever. This is your moment now, to not look into the abyss. Step back... IP: Logged |

I have been craving too and I must say this thread has convinced me to keep away from ciggies. I was thinking of having just one drag. LOL... my cousin was smoking as we were taking a walk and I had to restrain myself. IP: Logged |

I would suggest maybe some deep breaths since that's part of what smoking under stress is about. If you want something more physical, you could hold something like a carrot stick in your mouth or something. If you should happen to smoke...just don't allow yourself to believe that you're a smoker again. Tell yourself it was a one time thing, and you're not going back into the habit. It is possible to be an occasional smoker, but the difference is in how you think about it. (I'm not suggesting the above to those who've recently quit. If you've recently quit, then you're probably not ready to start tempting fate.) IP: Logged |

after engaging in another thread about how to quit smoking the mental process of thinking about cigs started in my mind again. i quit 6 months back. about the same time monsons hit mumbai! i used to enjoy smoking during the monson weather. i dont know if others feel the same but i would just love to go out in the rain to the nearest pan shop and have a cig or two. i was almost about to leave for a smoke when my parents returned home and i told them that i feel like smoking. they diverted my attention towards food. good food saved the day! slowly the craving faded away. cigis during cold wet weather give and entirely different high! but after each high there is low. if u wanna avoid the low, say fu to drugs! i have a whole differnt thing.....ever heard of organic cigarettes ? they have only tobacco, whereas the commercial ones have tobacco plus 800 different toxic chemicals inc DDT...toilet acid and what not. smoke organic ...red indians as well indians have tobacco for its health benefits for thousands of years. it5s used in ayurveda as a medicine.its only harmful in extreme overusage. try organic for now...if u must that is.
