(Just feel like having a bit of light-hearted fun to distract from the triviality of "seriousness"). Here's my grandad's cousin (not sure if it was a first or second cousin...will check): http://www.rogerwhittaker.com/bio.htm IP: Logged |

Sorry, no. I've done a bit of my family tree and we are all sh!t-shovellers to a man. I seriously doubt I am going to hit upon royalty at any point as I head backwards. IP: Logged |

Tracing our family tree revealed some pretty nasty people to. Im pretty sure my ancestors were slave owners. Im about 90% sure that they owned T.D. Jakes ancestors. If you dont know who he is, he is a very well known pastor in Tx. He has a megachurch and his own television program. Makes me sick to be descended from them. Then again, I am also descended from a slave on my mothers side many many many many generations back. I find it fascinating. Not to mention the copious amounts of Native American ancestors.I got off topic a bit. No, I am not related to anyone famous. Im only connected to someone in a terrible way. IP: Logged |

Don't worry, my Grandad reckoned he also found a (distant!) connection to Oliver Cromwell in my family tree somewhere too! A friend of mine posted a link to someone well known who he is related to who founded a humanist movement, and that is what got me remembering Roger...I haven't thought about the connection for years as I was never really interested. But hey, this is fun...I never realized Roger Whitakker had written so much stuff! Gosh! He's still healthy by the looks of him in a video this year too! He even got mentioned in an episode of my favourite TV series, Life On Mars. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Whittaker He is only a distant relative, but I can see the facial similarity- very similar to the face shape of my Great Aunt, my Grandad's sister, who was a headmistress at an infants school; his parents also wanted him to be a teacher, but he didn't want to be (rebel, lol)....so it looks like there was a leaning towards this profession in the family (his father was a shoe maker though). (Come to think of it, my mum also has the face shape!). Anyway, it doesn't really matter who we are descended from....We are all sovereign human beings....an expression of infinite consciousness having an experience through us...... why don't we all recognize the divinity in each and every one of ourselves and reach for the stars...our dreams? I suffer from low self-esteem, but after reading about Roger and listening to an uplifting interview (with David Wilcock.....sorry....just find him fascinating).....I am feeling uplifted. -------------------- My other ancestors, on the other hand....were mostly dirt poor.....I have a great grandad who was beheaded in a flour mill and who's wife and children were turned out onto the streets with all their belongings after his death....I have a grandmother who had to sing in the street as a little girl to collect some money because she had no shoes for her feet....in those days families would have to go by and knock on all the doors of their relatives, etc for any leftovers when they were short of food.....*sigh* (Pity she didn't know my mother's grandfather at the time; he could have made her some shoes!).
