Enjoy a glass of wine..

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine.. And those who don't.

As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria found in fece s. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, Whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember: Water = Poop, ..........Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of s***.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I'm doing it as a public service.

Cheers..

I usually prefer medium-bodied red wines like Merlot and Shiraz/Syrah.

If anyone cares for light reds, I recently tried Montinore's Pinot Noir, I believe it was a 2007 vintage. It is very crisp and refreshing. A great red for summer.

I don't really care for white wine, but a while back I tried Sonoma-Cutrer's Russian River Ranches 2006 Chardonnay. I don't typically like blends because I prefer to know what one specific vineyard or region offers, and I think $25 is a bit steep for this highly mass-produced Chard. But for a guy who doesn't like white wine, I remember thinking this was one of my favorites.

Nice one Pearlty!

Anyone like white wines? I can recommend Marlborough Montana Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand). Amaaazing.

Not so keen on oaky stuff like chardonnay. I will try to find the red you recommend SW, I'm getting more into red these days. Well anything really *hic*

I love the wine topic (I work for a wine company)

I generally prefer white wines though I do like some reds. I always feel like I have to EAT something with most reds and if I just want a glass of wine then I'll pick a white.

My favorite red right now for under $20 is Don Miquel Gascon's Malbec. It's from Argentina and it's wonderful to have on it's on "just because" because it's so good but it would pair great with steak or dark chocolates.

My favorite white at the moment for under $20 is Starborough's Sauvignon Blanc from Australia. It's crisp with hints of grapefruit and lemongrass and perfect for a warm afternoon or evening.

All these nice wines to try now...yeah..

So far my favorites are made close by in Amish Country...

They have one which is absolutely delicious called Roadhouse Red, they have a crisp Dandelion Wine I love, and their Riesling is nice too...

I do like Champagne sometimes as well...

I do not trust water supplies anymore.
Even my cats vomit and get diarrhea from it, unless it is boiled and filtered first.
Funny thing bottled water unless boiled sometimes does the same to them and me.
The tap water has foam or oily stuff on it too. The city admits to contaminants but claims it is within health code tolerances.
Yeah right.....
Even bathing can bring on hives during summer...oddly when the lake beaches are unsafe due to chemicals and e-coli. The same crap at supposedly safe levels in our drinking water!
