peas = erbsen = petit pois Can't remember the french for leek. Poireau? Yes, poireau. My husband is quite posh so his mother has served up some things that I didn't know the word for in English. Like, Guinea Fowl, not something I got served for tea frequently as a child. I still don't know the English for Langoustine. And there was this one vegetable, a bit like a leek, I still don't know what that was, but it was nice. On the other side of the coin we had a problem with the word "turnip". He didn't know what it was when we got the french word.
