I've been known to play Devil's advocate (once or twice :laughing . I'm very tolerant of behaviour that is different to mine. But I think I'm very intolerant of people who think that they behave or think in one way when all actions and words show otherwise. I think there is a lack of self-honesty and I don't really respect that because these people choose to see themselves in this wonderful light and the rest of us are sh1t. You can't have it both ways - there has to be consistency. If you are going to apply laws and rules to yourself they have to be consistent - you can't have different rules for others. And, you can't have different rules for your positive qualities to your negative ones. I guess I find it incredulous that people could be so far removed from their own truth.

I didn't know you have a Saggie daughter! (I am so sorry to not have a buffer between that first sentence and mentioning your daughter. ) My mom was an Aries moon. Aries and Sag are a great pair, in my experience.

I would never for a second think you intolerant. I may be a wh0re, but I'm no dummy. I agree with you completely about what annoys you about pompous condescension, hypocrisy, and how people who profess themselves sensitive are often just self-sensitive, prioritizing their own feelings above anyone else's.

I was referring to whether a loud, openly expressed trait is less "real" than a private one. If we're more private, someone more public may appear exhibitionistic, like they're just saying, "look at me! I'm so compassionate!" When really, it's just as likely that they're simply expressing who they are.

Yeah, I think that's a very astute observation. Yes, I suppose that when you're being true to yourself, you don't have that regard to how you are perceived. And that attention seeking quality in someone else may just well be a genuine part of them - and also a genuine need for them - to receive that. That may be how they see themselves or where they express themselves.

Your point about the compassion and "look at me" is really good. Because you're right. If someone is a quiet personality and they do inhabit these really wonderful qualities and they are never seen - then sure, they want that to be known about them. And LOL - you know - I've said before here that I'm deeply spiritual but because I jest so much it probably doesn't translate. So I'm as guilty as the next person - or maybe, just seeking to be understood - or even, known - as much as anyone else.

The specific problem for me is inconsistency. Eg. There is a thread in the astro forum that asks about psychics and some of the people responding to that have panned psychics, for whatever reasons. However, if we started a post titled "how psychic are you" - they'd be some of the first in there telling us their psychic virtues and abilities and giving the astrology that supports it. You can't pan someone else for their abilities but promote your own. It doesn't wash.

Exactly! Not guilty of anything. You're sharing who you are. Someone who doesn't share their spirituality isn't more spiritual just b/c they kept it to themselves. The act of exhibiting who you are--whether it's by saying it, or demonstrating it--doesn't cheapen the spirituality inside of you or make it any less real than the person who hides that part of themselves from others.

And for some, their emotional nature permeates their self-expression. It's always there. And to someone who's naturally more private emotionally, that expression may seem phony and motivated by appearing a certain way, when in fact, that's just who that person is. It's like people who aren't funny or are more shy with their humor; they may consider those who are more open with their wit as showing off or proving themselves, when really no, the witty are just doing what comes naturally to them.
