LOL - ah, yes, very familiar with this scenario. There have been times when I've had to break into my own home. My husband can't work out how I do it. And I don't tell. At heart, I have a criminal mind. IP: Logged |

Just in case I have offended anyone else reading, I appreciate that there are many people about who are highly sensitive and empathetic. I don't doubt it. It doesn't irritate me when they say it. They don't irritate me in general. What grates a little is people who don't walk it like they talk it. The type who seek attention for their amazing powers of sensitivity. If they really were as empathetic as they make out, they will be spending half their week prostrate on their couch, huddled under a duvet. And like I say, I do have a friend like this. She does a lot of things for other people, when she is up and feeling good. Which is about 3 or 4 days on a good week.

Whilst I am being a beatch, I want to get out there that it annoys me when people don't read things properly, and just leap to the conclusions they want to reach. IP: Logged |

Just in case Crimson Chyld is reading, I most certainly was not talking about you when slagging off faux-hypersensitive people. You are coming across quite strongly to me as a genuine, caring person. With a good taste in butts (i.e Matthew Mc). IP: Logged |

bm quote: A good friend of mine is highly empathetic ~ the hairdresser, the drunk on the street, the rats in the alleyway. I've seen her suffering over them all. I didn't make any of those up. If you wonder how she gets through the day the answer is sometimes she doesn't, she is often in bed for 2 days at a time with the stress of it all. But this is someone I respect very highly. She does actually give a sh!t about other people and is very kind and generous. In fact, she can't understand why people tend to be so selfish.
I was very much like your friend once upon a time. If you are so emphatic that you take on the burdens of others to the point where you can't discern what is yours to theirs, you become ineffective in helping because you become one of them - a victim, etc. You have to distance yourself and know what's yours. And then you also have to accept that they have to accept responsibility for where they are - for whatever reasons. How do you explain certain types of suffering and events - why are these people brought to Earth - what purpose does their existence serve - other than to teach the rest of us compassion - what's in it for them? I've had to accept that things just are - no matter how much it aches. And everyone has to deal with their own lot. Because when you can stand in yourself, in your own worth - that's when you're truly effective and able to do something to help and create change. It's a very hard path. I empathise with your friend. My biggest lesson so far has been to accept - not that things are as they're supposed to be, as people keep telling me - but that they are as they are for whatever reason. I torture myself with the constant question of "why?". But it's one of those that doesn't always have a satisfactory answer or sometimes where the question only creates more questions. IP: Logged |

Yeah, you're right. A really big **** is far more entertaining for longer periods of time. There's only so much conversation you can have. IP: Logged |

Sorry to put you off your breakfast. Puts a whole new twist to the expression "you could see what she had for breakfast". I was just wondering though - as it's a birthday cake - umm, where do you cut it?

LOL. Must say, he does nothing for me. He doesn't have a prison record, I suppose, so....... but his name is absolutely lovely. Who wouldn't want to fall in love with a Richard Armitage! Does Mr bm have any idea that he's going to bed and waking up with some of these men? IP: Logged |

Mars in 3rd. I like to think I ooze sex appeal from every pore, but that would be the self-delusion. Men tend to like me well enough, but that's not necessarily in a sexual sense. It's the brotherly thing that's going on. (And I'm sure that there are plenty that would think I'm an @rsehole as well as a bit of a minger.) Plus, let's face it, I'm nearer 40 than 20 so simpering around like a sex kitten would be pretty pathetic. IP: Logged |

I'm convinced that my presence offends people at times. Certainly at this site. This thread, I imagine, is not to everyone's liking, but I think it is to most people's humour (in some way), whether they want to admit to it or not. Quit apologising. You're entitled to your views and to expressing them. You are the least offensive person on this site bm. Truly. Try harder. IP: Logged |
