bmThere's a news report today that in Italy a judge over-ruled the naming of a child because the name was so bizarre. I read years ago that a couple named their child after all members of Metallica. And there was an incident earlier this year in New Zealand where a couple were threatened with legal action and the possibility of losing custody of their child because they gave her a truly bizarre (cruel) name. Looking at his children's names - I'm not sure he'd go for John. John Bean. Mmmmm - unless it's his dad's name - IMDB nor Wiki offer this information.IP: Logged |

I'm never going to have a son called John. *sulks* I like names that have meanings. I'm not really into something that just sounds trendy, and I agree with Lexx, no kid should have a joke name. The kiwi name wasn't Talula does the Hula from Hawaii, was it? That was the court case, see thread for more details! p.s I think the law has changed in France now but there were strict rules on naming ~ I think they had to be on the calendar of Saints. There's quite a lot of choice of nice names in there though. My friend had to apply to parliament to get his children's non trad names through. I think they've change the law now but ... you just couldn't call your kid Bus Shelter. The mayor can say now and anyone sensible wouldn't let that one in. IP: Logged |

bmI'm really sorry that one of your twins passed over and also that you suffered the miscarriages. I have a friend who miscarried 5 times and she became obsessed with conceiving. It consumed every part of her life and her marriage. She had a little girl and within twelve months had another one, unplanned. My mother had a history as well so I was always on edge during the pregnancies, especially with bleeding throughout them all. There's been a couple of threads this week where others have experienced this too. What you said about it not being their fault was really wonderful. There are so many who want to judge that - and to tell them that - and your story - is the highest of compassion. IP: Logged |

Yes, that's the one. That's just - it's not even funny! Funny thing - with all the names at school - I don't even recall one John. Even at our previous school - not one child was named John. How strange is that! It's my father-in-law's name. Have we come to the point where common names are now uncommon? Overtaken by celebmania and the need for ridiculous names. IP: Logged |

There was a John in my class. I have a close friend called John. He was named after his Uncle. The reason it isn't in the top 50 here anymore is because Jack has been either top or near the top of popular names for years. I know more than one little boy named after Great-Grandpa Jack. But where he was Christened John but always called Jack, now kids just get registered as Jack straight off. IP: Logged |

Okay. That pub has more activity out back than inside! THE TASSLE. There's just something about that picture that made me go "phwar" when I saw it. IP: Logged |

That is how you measure the physical biometrics. But to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of the merchandise it has to be measured against the Gag Reflex Index. IP: Logged |

Yes, you're right about the name Jack. And abundance of children named Jack. Also, James has never lost it's popularity. Nice name - actually both. We had Jack picked out as our son's name originally, but it doesn't match our surname and abbreviated it would have caused some trouble - horrible nicknames.IP: Logged |

Good point! But how do you measure the average of that to analyse the size and depth? I would suggest using your method for purpose of evaluating longevity. IP: Logged |

No matter which way you look at it, that Bean surname is rather unfortunate. There's no way of making it sound good. Unless he does a Rafe and changes it.IP: Logged |
