Brilliant obervation. I was thinking this over the last couple of days. What has started as general banter has emerged into researching past life histories, etc. We're feeding each others' fantasy addiction. It's only serious if it gets in the way of your day-to-day life. IP: Logged |

Which it did there for a while, or at least something to turn to when things got tough there. I just don't think it's a good thing for me personally to indulge in. IP: Logged |

Are you kidding me? I asked my husband to put up a picture for me, he said: are you manually incapable? So I did it myself. He's right, you don't need a knob to be able to bang a nail with a hammer. Heavy furniture? Get more women to carry it and distribute the weight properly. IP: Logged |

But having said that, who doesn't? Eg isn't all of pop stardom and other forms of entertainment living out infantile fantasies? Take celebrity crush - forms a band to get chicks and adored. Has an Aston Martin to emulate Bond. Writes theme song for Bond, dates Bond girl. Tries to get another girlfriend into Bond film. Wears Fedoras. What I'm saying is everyone does it. We love it of course because it's so ridiculous and we want to be part of that fantasy ourselves. IP: Logged |

Meta, I believe you on the non-flexibility. But the Kite is a great configuration to have, but you have to use it. The focus is on the Opposition. IP: Logged |

OK, that was an extreme "sexist" case I put up. Men however are physically stronger than women, I've seen it with my own eyes and I'm sure you have too IP: Logged |

I think we're simply looking for logical explanations as to why we are "connected" to these men. Through astrology and past lives we are trying to reason. That way, it makes it seem like we're not just irrationally obsessed. That way, there is, indeed, a method to the madness. IP: Logged |

Well, yes, there is truth here. However, it's a fine line between fantasy and reality. Personally I'd like my fantasies to be my reality. But then, I probably speak for the masses there. Sorry, I have to - Colin's in the bath and he's calling me. Ah, I love my real life. Or is it my fantasy life. Ummm, ummmm.................

Yes because well certainly my reality is BORING. BM mentioned that earlier on. However, I'm sure the reality of being a celebrity is BORING too, I'm sure they get to do some exciting things but I don't think it's all roses for them as well. IP: Logged |

Not being a plumber, electrician or mechanic I've got to get someone to do those things for me, but I don't need a sweaty snorer to help me move the bookshelves, you know what I'm saying. But don't dream this means I'm about to switch to the girl's team, Meta. IP: Logged |

Even drug taking is an illusion and fantasy. Maintaining that high after a concert or public area in front of thousands of screaming people all wanting you. Must be hard to come down. IP: Logged |

Why? I'll only go and watch some cr@p telly. If we lived in the same town we would be drinking wine and talking about how the postman has a nicer arse than the butcher. That not being possible, this is an amusing alternative. I don't really believe in past lives or karma. I don't eat meat either, but the butcher in our town is quite fit, I noticed when I went to buy a bottle of milk from his shop. IP: Logged |

Anyway, it's better to go on here and act it out than in reality and end up in all sorts of trouble. I can't remember who said it, someone like Clarke Gable, love is the only real adventure in life. IP: Logged |

Maybe i'm speaking for myself here, but i don't fantacize about Ralph. I don't daydream about what a life together with him would be like. I don't have another reality going on in my brain. I look at him as someone who represents what i am looking for in a "soulmate". I am looking at the qualities that he possesses and i am seeing 1) idealistic traits for a lover 2) qualities that mirror my own self. There is a difference between believing you are with someone you are not and feeling connected to someone. Are Ralph and i going to get together? No. We're not. And though that may sting, and it may seem irrational for it to sting since i've never met the man, i cannot live my life for someone i do not know. THAT would be irrational. And when it all comes down to it, it's not about HIM. It's about ME. It's about YOU. It's about how these men, or what these men stand for, affect us. How they hurt us or help us. So are we feeding an addiction? No. I don't think so. We're learning about ourselves through them. We're learning what we want from a partner, what we want from love, life, friendship. And we're also learning along the way how we would affect one another. Some of these people that are touching us NOW have, in fact, touched us in the past. That's not impractical, it's not make believe, it's reality. But when you stop thinking of it as "Yes, we were lovers before. Yes, we were friends before." and start thinking of it as "Yes, we are lovers now. Yes, we are friends now." then you have a problem. IP: Logged |

I'm going to have to buy a laptop so I can communicate with you while I'm at school during the day next year. I swear you guys keep me sane.I say school because I don't want to use the term college because it's a technical college - TAFE for 23 as she'll know - saying college makes it sound grander than it is. I never dream about being him because I know that's not possible for a myriad of reasons, the only fantasy I have of him is to catch his eye and notice me for that one split-second. That's doable, I seek recognition. Maybe I'm nuts, what do you think" IP: Logged |
