" It was a power. It was a darkness. It was a fear. I wanted it. Badly. I WAS a vampire. In my mind, you know. I just was..."
Powerful. Strong. Invincible. Noone could hurt you as a vampire.

"But the vampires i know (through the gothic culture) are all psychic vampires. I don't know any sanguine vampires."
Well, I did a bit of research on this cult for a story, I never wrote.
And I know it exists. But it`s highly suspect to me those sanguine vampires. Doesn`t feel like something I want to get into.
I`ve known some Goths, too, but it was all role-playing for them and dressing up.
That sanguine vampire-stuff actually feels pretty sick to me. Sorry, if I hurt you by saying that.

But psychic vampires, they do exist definitely.

"Or... did she ever touch you? Not in a perverted way, but in a light way on the chest, neck, or face?"
Yes.

Actually when I was very young she hypnotized me (she had read about past lives, and thought it was a good idea to try it out); I do not remember anything of it, but when I came to myself again, my friends who were there and observed it were very very startled and almost terrified of me. Hey, I mean, we were kids. I was maybe 9 years old, and who knows HOW far exactly she had sent me back with that hypnosis?

It was a pretty creepy time actually, the same a few years later. I don`t like to think too much about it. But I learned the hard way that you shouldn`t play with powers you don`t understand, and that I apparently have powers or become a channel for things that I neither understand nor can control. I`m not sure, but sometimes it felt as I could easily open gateways to worlds I had no idea of and no understanding about. So I decided it is best to keep them shut. Tightly shut. You never know what could come through there.
It`s best for me to stay away from Ouia boards, far far away. Best they are on some other continent.

I don't see vampires as romantic, aristocratic. I see them as filthy creature. But that is their fate so there should be some empathy, I suppose. They need blood for survival. And everyone wants to survive.

Agreed.

I admit i don't know what the Irish and English folklore described the vampire as before the idea was romanticized. Do you? Could you fill me in.

Oh, and i loved you picture by the way. I have a soft spot for the feminine look in men. Very elegant were you!

I think what attracts me to vampires (or how I see them, and that doesn`t need to be like the myth really is), is that living outside of any rules.

To me vampires are purely instinctual, and that is something I couldn`t understand for a long time, but something I wanted to understand.
I am mind-controlled, vampires to me broke through such control-mechanisms.

I mean the symbolism:

They live in Darkness - subconsciousness
they suck blood - symbol of life
their aversion towards the church - aversion towards society-made rules

I know that this is not all, and you could interprete it differently.
But that is what was the attraction for me, this surrendering to an instinctual emotional side, not necessarily caring for others, no, probably pretty selfish, but emotional.

I don`t know. I guess there are parts in it that I yearn to integrate into my life, at least partly, because I have suppressed them for long, and that may cause the attraction.

Vampire is an embodiment of an outcast of society made flesh. The Vampire basically symbolizes everything that we usually disdain about ourselves (Preditorial nature, Uncontroable desires, Outlandish looks, etc. etc.)

Notice how the protagonists of Anne Rice's novels (no matter how full of themselves they might be, end up asking about the purpose of their existance over and over again... Even Lestat Lol!)

Meta:

Why thankyou Lol! You can thnak my friend for coaxing it on me Lol!

Xodian,

PERFECTLY put.

That is what I found alluring about them all the time.
And of course it ties into the Victorian age I guess. The social restrictions, the moral codes - it had to find some release.

Xodian,

you say it is something we "disdain" about ourselves, but can`t it be that we secretly yearn for acknowleding its existence?

NOt to the extent as it is portrayed in the Vampire-novels, in really harming other people, but can`t it be that this myth speaks to a longing within us, at least IF we are attracted to that myth?

DD:

Offcourse we yearn for it; Its part of our nature. The generation with Pluto in Scorpio IMO understands that better then anyone and thus its translated into the modern day comfort with sexuality and carnal passion in general.

But GENERALLY speaking Lol! The so called mannerisms of Vampires including their belief system lands them in the questionable Taboo area; Along with the fact that their so called "boredom" with life as literature has portrayed it tends to mimick that of 16th century Aristocrats.

*scratches chin and thinks*

Blue Bale sounds the best, but that don't say much. Blue crow? Blue bean? That's bad.

Though I don't want to marry any of them, and even if I did, my name would still be moon.

Hmm, thanks, think I'll stick with the cat and meet up with one of the others every Thursday evening.

There's something deeply erotic about vampires. Now, I'm not into vampires, as you know, but I can see that.

It is because they live at such a core level. Blood - life. They make their own rules because they don't exist peacefully within the perameters of human rules. And by right, no matter what their personal power, they are afraid of humans as much as they may need them. Vampires, in a romantic context, are wounded beings/creatures.

But there is something - soulless about them - something - not sinister, I don't mean without a soul in that way - but something - unfeeling - and yet I sense great compassion - but - i don't know - for themselves and their own kind.

I suppose they're quite fascinating then.

It's easy to romanticise anything, if you want to.

You like Catherine Zeta-Jones???!!!??? Really?

Oh, no no no - can't stand her. Same with J-Lo and Liz Hurley.

I can't understand why men or women revere these people.

I can understand the romance with Angelina Jolie. It's easy to buy into the publicity. I'm not a fan of her celeb status, but she can actually act. She was brilliant in Gia.

My husband likes Cameron Diaz. I look in the mirror and think, yeah, I can see the resemblance!

Powerful. Strong. Invincible. Noone could hurt you as a vampire.

As always, there's my subconscious spilling out into my life!!!

What do you mean by "suspecting" something?

You haven't offended me. It's meant to be dangerous. It is. Very. All romance aside. Sanguine vampires are not meant to appear sweet and fluffy. Ingesting blood- human blood- is not to be taken lightly.

I was never interested in being a psy vampire. That's not where my interests were. It was always sanguinarians- i just didn't know the term or the specifics. But that plan sort of backfired because i am SERIOUSLY afraid of blood. Not needles, or knives or any of the objects that cause blood, but blood itself. I don't know why. Maybe something happened in a past life i was... well... i don't know, but it made me fearful of blood!

DD,

When she touched you, or when you woke up- how did you feel? How did your body feel? How long did it take you to get over it?

She did touch you right? Where? For how long? With or without your consent?

Interesting interpretation, DD. I've never thought of it like that. Makes sense though.

I don't look it like that, but that's just me.

Agreed. Definitely agreed.

There is a forbidden sense about vampires. They're untouchable- literally and figuratively. I mean that in the sense that, even though a vampire could be standing 3 feet away from you, he/she is millions of miles away. There's a distance. Like you can never quite get to him/her. Never quite figure them out. You cannot know them like you know a human. There's too much. They're too vast. Beyond your reach. You cannot help them. You cannot save them. They're alone eternally. Irrevocably.

Wounded, exactly like PA said.

And of course, being the type of people we are, we are allured because we WANT to reach them. We WANT to know them. To understand. To be apart of that world. But the trick is that you can't truly understand unless you are one. And when you are one, you wish you weren't. Vampires, and that entire world- romanticized or not- is EXTREMELY secretive. So even if a vampire wanted to tell you, he wouldn't. Never.

I'm starting to get all worked up. I need to calm down- it's just a discussion!!!!

Sorry, i'm getting emotional. ...yes...

Oh I don't like her as a person but I think she can be very attractive, I think she would be very snooty. I definitely don't like Liz Hurley or J-Lo. J-Lo is an uppity drama queen and Liz Hurley is not even attractive IMHO. Can't see why people find her attractive. It's another blind spot just like that Rafe pic.

Julian Sands:

Don't know who he is. Not very attractive. Sorry girls. I think I've seen pics of him around on Godzala though, I remember Meta put one up of him with long hair.

Ever so vague resemblance to this lady and the look works on her. She's Virgo rising and so he would be as well.

They're bodies that haven't rotted properly, that is why water is thrown on graves to rot the bones and wheat is thrown on graves to feed the soul. They say that there is a good chance of a person becoming a vampire if they are born between Xmas and Lady's Day (in April I think), so there is a good chance that I might become one

PS PA - reason why you might think that CB is Libra rising is because he has Pluto in Libra.
