I know of a couple of cases of women who have been asked to pick between their boyfriend and their kids. They chose the boyfriend. I will never understand that, ever. I'd rather be single, no question. Anyway, plenty of decent guys out there prepared to give it a go with a single mother. The only friend of mine who said he wouldn't want to take on someone else's kids said it was because of the nature of his work and the things he had seen. 20 years later he has 2 stepkids, one who is disabled. He's actually very good with kids, always was, he was just put off by something. I never asked for details. IP: Logged |

Wow I couldn't imagine choosing a boyfriend over my kids. Boyfriends... even men come and go in a lifetime but our children are forever... that's crazy.Hey PA - Glad you're feeling better! Looks like you've passed on whatever you had because I've had the chills and tummy trouble for a few days now.. so keep your "virus" (tee hee) to yourself k? So whaddup with the very blonde hair on what's his butt? IP: Logged |

Hey PA How are ya doin'? Sorry I missed you!!! Should see you soon in other places quote: koiflower how lucky you were to see them live!
Thank you, Yes! Very lucky!! I'll endeavour to see them next time too. I think they come around every couple of years! It's a great treat to see a live performance. Cirque du Soleil is a story of East meets the West, so there is a multicultural feel to it. Le théâtre était excellent ! IP: Logged |

By some quirk of the universe I read this story this morning, where it is alleged a woman sold her twins to pay for liposuction: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article5338122.ece
Maybe you heard the big scandal story here of Shannon Matthews, whose mother had her kinapped and an appeal sent out as a money making exercise. She has now been jailed. The lags have put a price on her head ~ a packet of cigarettes.

koiSo you like men calling you "slapper". Well, I think we can accommodate. Maybe you can change your name to koislapper. Oh my! If you are a Simpsons fan, think Troy McClure and the "fish thing". Oh my! IP: Logged |

The youngest PA child had her birthday yesterday and proceeded to go around annoucing it to anyone within earshot (and continuing the pattern today ). I don't think they've heard about it in Cuba yet, so as a dutiful parent I'm just letting everyone know. If it hasn't been on your local or national news, you must live on another planet. However, I don't think they are immune either. IP: Logged |

I'm sad to see Kick It go. I understand though. I've felt and thought the same when it gets b1tchy and when I read astro threads that are way beyond me - like Glaucus who has such an interesting take on things and I just think that's so far ahead of me astrologically. But then I think, we bring different things and different energies and they are all valuable to whatever degree in their own way. And it's not always about the interpretation - it's about the expression. And that's vital.I hope he changes his mind. I really enjoy his humour. Even though we don't directly converse, I really enjoy Kick It's posts. And his banter with others - especially with you bm and sunshine-lion. IP: Logged |

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm going to have an early night tonight. Tomorrow is like mayhem compacted into one living day. It's going to be insane. Need to prepare - psyche up even. I've got a killer new dress to go with all the occasions of the day. I need to find matching shoes and be stellar. Oh, and to smile and laugh. That's the most important thing. Always. Now, should I wear the black velvet Mary-Janes or the sexy strappy skin-toned sandals? IP: Logged |

Not sure what to make of this quote: quote: As you know, no one over thirty years of age is afraid of tittle-tattle. I myself find it much less difficult to strangle a man than to fear him.

In case you missed it, Queen Christina made an appearance on the celibacy thread. Being both a quibbler and a history bore, I suggested this was erroneous as she was a lesbian. Not the same thing. But what do they do, I was asked? Try asking Koiflower, I said. Why? Anyway, Christina abdicated the Swedish throne and went to study art in Italy. Where she dressed as a man and called herself Count Dohmu. Or something. The first history assignment I did at college (aged 16), the teacher said: thank you, now I shall cover all the main points bm has missed out, which is Foreign and Domestic Policy. LOL. But he did seem to enjoy my little piece about Henri IV and his 56 mistresses. LOL.

It's something to do with Randall's pruning. But's it's O.K. I can repeat my waffle in future. It was my response to your question how can you know someone's class and background from their accent? The answer was: familiarity. The more you know an area, the better you know the different accents and what the areas are like -: For example.... Not many English people know the difference between Birmingham and Black Country. But they sound different to me ~ and none of it is what you would call the Queen's English. It's an industrial area. It's not posh. The Midlands accent sounds quite nasal. Sample Brummies: Ozzy Osbourne, Julie Walters. Black Country: Adrian Chiles, Lenny Henry. Lenny Henry is a good one ~ he breaks into broad Dudley in his comedy routines. He also does Jamaican, imitating his parents. Rafe is more the standard Queen's English. Why's he posh? Hear Prince Wills or Harry speak, they will sound similar, but less plummy. They speak more like I would expect a private educated person under 40 to speak like ~ their nan is more like an old-fashioned BBC announcer. You should come and live over here, somewhere outside London. You will pick it all up quite soon.
