starkiss1 You are so sweet! I do get the "humbug" at times. The holiday season has become so damn "grab it and growl". The big showing off is revolting too and really not in keeping with the love and charity and peace. I know a guy who is spending over $1,200 to have his decorations catered! So many poor folks he could help instead. And folks running about in a frenzy and not enjoying the season. OK...rant over.....BLESSINGS AND A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON TO YOU! ------------------ Everyone is a teacher... Everyone is a student... Learning is eternal. }><}}(*> IP: Logged |

starkiss1 quote: Love the Christmas Tree! I know a mum who got a laptop for her 4 year old! Or is it normal?
Aside from being expensive, I feel that is a bit much for most 4 year olds. I was able to read and write at about that age but most cannot. quote:
Lexx, are you a writer? Bet your Mercury is well placed - you have it with words. Where do i find your credentials?
I have several manuscripts (very long ones) and am looking to find an agent and have my/our works published after about May 2010. I helped on a book my husband wrote, which is published. It is a textbook type book so even though it sells for about $69, it only pays out royalties of a hundred or so bi yearly. My chart: My name Lexigrams out to having this! Write Writer! Write many a tale. Line by line... Tell many a cerebral tale. Write a fine tale, A nice tale. Write a fiery tale, An ice tale, A Wintry icy tale. Terrify all... by a terrible alien/Terran War tale. Write a fairy tale, A tall tale, A belief tale, A brief tale, A time tale, An alien tale, A cat tale, A trancer tale, A fate tale, A reality tale, A racy tale, A fable. I will earn my literary fame. I will celebrate it. All can... Meet me at a Library. I am a real writer! A rare literary literacy elf am I. I can write in trance. A trance realm writer I am. In my real life I really am... A writer. quote: Can't find your original thread...
Not sure what you are referring to. Do you mean at KTAA?------------------ Everyone is a teacher... Everyone is a student... Learning is eternal. }><}}(*> IP: Logged |

On December 22 1977 I had a precious experience. My best friend was in a rest home(she was 84 and I was 23)...she wanted to go Christmas shopping with me, but she was not feeling up to it. She had been wheelchair bound for 70 of her 84 years. But until the mini stroke left her unable to use her arms to roll about..she lived on her own. Well she sold all her things to afford the rest home. But she wanted a little something to make her feel a little more "at home". She wanted a new clock..with flowers and it had to be a china plate clock like the one she had before that had been dropped and broken during her move to the rest home. Well I went to the mall without her that December 22-1977...because she was feeling poorly. I promised to get the clock for her. While I am at the mall looking at some scarves, I hear the sound of "HER VICTORIAN WICKER AND WOOD WHEELCHAIR!" behind me! I turned and of course she was not there! But then I smelled her "White Shoulders" perfume! Ok...so I decided I had better get the clock. I went over to a gift shop and walked in to the clocks area of gifts. Damn! Only one flowered china clock left! And it was absolutely perfect except for having Roman numerals...which she hated! I was going to go someplace else when it suddenly fell off the display and I had to catch it! So I bought it...seeing how I knew I had a few more days left to shop for the right plate clock. When I got home Mrs.C. called me from the rest home. She said "V" had died at 7:22 pm. I took the clock out and looked at the receipt....printed right on it was the time....7:22pm.! "V" knew I liked Roman numerals...and loved her flowered china clock. She had left it to me in her will, but it had been broken in her move to the rest home. I feel that this was her Christmas gift to me and the replacement for the clock she wanted to leave me that was broken. Funny thing was, exactly a year later at the time she had died, I was changing the battery in it. I dropped it. It broke in the same way the other one had! I glued it back together and still use it!------------------ Everyone is a teacher... Everyone is a student... Learning is eternal. }><}}(*> IP: Logged |

Yeah, Christmas 2009 is past...however here is a story of a Christmas Eve of mine in the 1970s. quote: I was given a Christmas turkey as a bonus at work on Christmas Eve morning after my night shift was over. I put it on top of my car in a pile of snow on the car roof. It stuck to the roof very well. I got distracted by the blizzard as I was trying to get into the iced stuck lock. Well I got in, and got the car all warmed up and drove off. Fortunately I was driving rather slow because of the icy snow. Well a policeman appeared behind me lights flashing...and I was like, oh god, now what? Well I stopped and he came up to my window and asked me what was I having for Christmas dinner. I was like, huh? what? He asked again, and so mystified me, I told him turkey and stuffing and all. He said nothing with a serious look as he wrote what looked like a traffic violation ticket and handed to me, and walked away back to his car. ??????????????????????????????? I read the ticket expecting the worse. Written on a plain piece of pink paper were these words: "The bird is on your car roof, Happy Holidays" I sat there a moment and embarrassed got out and retrieved my turkey, as the policeman waved and beeped and sounded his siren as he went by.

BUMP I dream of a Currier & Ives kinda Christmas. Being with a true beloved; Moonlight, horse drawn sleigh.... followed by cozy up by a fireplace, good pleasant soft music, much cuddles etc. sigh..... Maybe someday...... sigh ------------------ I must perhaps resign myself to having only stolen and brief tastes of happiness, for it appears that I may never be invited to the feasts. ~LEXX The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. My family usually doesn't make a big deal out of Christmas, we hadn't even heard of the holiday until we came to the U.S. But one year they surprised my sister and I with every gift either of us had wanted that age. We were satisfied the rest of the year IP: Logged |

Nope. Highly unlikely. Maybe in a few years? But even that would require more than a single miracle. Sigh Well, I have a handful of good memories at least, from decades ago.

I remember one Christmas years ago when I was flat broke. Then somehow I came into an unexpected $100 on Christmas Eve. I went to the mall before it closed and bought a lot of small gifts for my close friends and family, and it was the most amazing feeling ever. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." I had a really great Christmas experience this year.I went to church. I've had a few conflicts with people there, some of them pretty serious and disconnecting. I was not looking forward to it, but prior to going to church I had been praying for peace within myself and between myself and others. I just felt an amazing and overpowering sense of peace and joy that day. I got to read, too, and had a beautiful passage to share (Isaiah 52:7-10). I just felt really happy and well-connected to people and to God and that was amazing. I know that I'm not really telling it very well, but it's hard to really put it into words. It was like joy was pouring into me and out of me, through me and from me and onto me. It was like a holiness was radiating from everyone in the room, from the pews, the floor, the podium, the windows, the ceiling, even the air. It was just incredibly beautiful.
