I am both. So guess I don't fit in here with the ladies or the few gentlemen. Women still baffle me. ------------------ Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain. IP: Logged |

That's interesting, you'd think that being both you would have an understanding of both sexes.Ah, and no-one understands women - we're not made that way. It's a woman's perogative to change her mind at any given moment for any given reason, or even none at all, without any warning whatsoever and everyone had just better be okay with it or else. And that's without being pre-menstrual or menopausal. Men have no chance of working us out. They just have to agree with us. IP: Logged |

Not really. My mind is rated by actual psych tests as 98% male. I would be 100% but I remember my dreams so lose points there. Straight or Lesbian I just do not relate well to the ladies. Straight men I kinda understand but relate best to gay men. quote: Ah, and no-one understands women - we're not made that way. Is that how it really is to be all female? Sounds like a rather chaotic way to live. I'd like to hear how other ladies describe being a woman. PS. Gender/Orientation, has more to do with brain wiring rather than the body in my opinion. Add in societal factors and it can get quite complicated. ------------------ Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain. IP: Logged |

Being 46XX with no medical problems and good fortune meant I got to bear children. I menstruate and in a few years I will menopause. I have a relative who is 47XXY who never knew till he was in his 50s (and had been married for nearly 30 years). There's nothing particularly feminine about him at all. He laughs and says he is half-woman but identifies as male. Reproductive technicality and a few curves aside, what differences are nature rather than nurture? My husband says I have a man's personality in a woman's body. He says this is because my dad treats me like I am another son. My dad looked puzzled when I told him that, he said: how else am I supposed to treat you? Er, like a princess? LOL Thanks, Pa, I am a great map-reader and I can reverse the car. He never taught my brother anything he didn't teach me. Maybe peeing standing up. I know the offside rule. IP: Logged |

I can relate to that - though not at psych-testing level. I always think of myself as being mentally male. Probably more in humour - in the sense that I can get dirty with the rest of the boys that way. I like a good dirty joke. The filthier the better. One thing I hate though - even though I can be as naughty as the rest of them, and I swear like a wharfie, I hate the "c" word - when it comes out - especially from a woman - something inside of me just switches off. I used to think that I could relate more to men than women, but I've learnt here at LL that I really enjoy the company and interaction with women a great deal. I think I like the company equally. Here we have something in common. Mr PA insisted on driving us to Dreamworld the other day. Well, big mistake. And didn't I know it. The three hour drive turned into a four and a half hour drive. He claimed at least we took the scenic route and got to see things that we wouldn't have seen otherwise. A bit over-optimistic and positive for a Capricorn, if you know what I mean. Some may say backtracking.... whatever. We got there - albeit late. IP: Logged |

And there, in one simple sentence, have you defined the difference between men and women. It's true. I think we're all basically the same. Except for this one thing. I don't often discern between men and women. It's on the odd occasion where a male will grab my attention and I go "whoa". But that doesn't happen often. Otherwise, everyone's the same. I try to take people as they are. But sometimes someone just screams out "man". That's Mars activated. It doesn't happen very often at all. Post a few pics of Christian Bale and it could happen more than usual though. IP: Logged |

Mr bm brought a friend home, who argued with me over a map when we were on a walk. He was wrong. I think he was a little surprised. He said something about it not being what he was used to ... if you never let your wife read the map she won't be able to do it, will she? D'oh. I can read a map better than mr bm which is disturbing as he used to be in the army. He is a far better cook, and many other things. Being an Aqua, he is happy to split tasks on merit and not on gender basis. It amazes me how many men are not able to handle this basic piece of common sense.

I think that's quite rare - merit based as opposed to gender based. There is a generational influence on that. Mr PA has learnt many nasty habits from his rather old-set-ways father. And then tries to emulate those. I use the word "tries". He has been re-educated. Usually along the lines of "I'm not your mother or anything like her and nor do I have any intention of being so". His mother being the resident slave. Your comment made me think of men who are threatened, rather than pleased, by the higher earning capacity of their female partners. And I think it's quite common too. Men are programmed to be "the provider" and women are supposed to be "the nurturer". A male's brain's internal wiring is physically different to that of a female. Hhmm....I have noticed that females actually get into dirty jokes more than men. Straight males seem to do it because of societal conditioning. I think that it may be a stereotype situation; like the old sayings... quote: What are little boys made of? Snips and snails, and puppy-dogs' tails, That's what little boys are made of. What are little girls made of? Sugar and spice, and everything nice, That's what little girls are made of.
Gads I detest stereotyping and societal ideas of what is a real man and what is a real woman! ------------------ Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain. IP: Logged |

I'm the same there, but then I think to myself that they are there for a purpose - and they are based upon "norms". Who they find to garner these "norms" I don't know. I've never been consulted nor anyone else I know. So the 10 people that they base their figures for the rest of the population must come from an isolated sector. That said, I can see patterns in people. But, there's always going to be the exception to the rule. It's important to take people as they are. Sometimes they surprise you by being more or different than you expect. I think we all in some way have our own sense of stereotypes - how people fit into our own internally set boxes and compartments, rather than the ones set up by society and statistics. It's hard to avoid. IP: Logged |

ROFL. Strange dynamic that. The irony is that he's probably now what she wanted him to be then. But different people bring out different things and parts of us and you obviously bring those qualities out of him. Well, that's a new take on that. The benefits thereof. Brilliant I say. IP: Logged |

Sorry Randall for segueing your thread. Maybe someone should start another thread for the extra bits that go beyong the topic of this thread: Are You A Boy Or A Girl Knowflake?------------------ Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain. IP: Logged |

We're phenomenal for shifting threads. It's part of what makes them interesting. I can't imagine Randall being offended by it. We're all part of his harem apparently anyway. He wants first dibs. Though, I'm not sure how Xodian is going to take this. EDIT: Maybe we need a thread to determine the LL Alpha Male? IP: Logged |

Ok, jumping in here I'm female, but I wear my hair short-short in a very boyish style, I drive like a man and agree that most females can't drive, I'm in love with my xbox and my TV, my drink of choice is beer, I'm very slender but also quite muscular and put on more muscle easily, I'm into technical gadgets, I work as a security guard and I love to ride motorcycles. I only wish I owned my own and didn't have to borrow my ex's.. Oh, and I looooove MEN! People often peg me as a lesbian because of how I look and act, and not least because of my job. Around here people almost atomatically assume you're lesbian if you've both got short hair and are employed in one of the big security companies, and not *entirly* without reason. A couple of years ago I tried growing my hair out, thinking I might attract more men with girly hair. I only got to barely shoulder lenght, and it didn't help much anyway... I was fooling myself in any case, what if I'd gotten someone on the hook while pretending to be someone else? Doomed to fail. Oh well, we are what we are Oh, and just to clear that up, I'm not bashing any orientations, I support gay marriage/adoption and all, I hope no one takes offence by me complaining about being taken for a lesbian ------------------ Cancer Rising 21'44 Gemini Sun 1'33 Libra Moon 18'39 Taurus Mercury 16'36 Cancer Venus 15'15 Gemini Mars 4'28 Sagittarius Jupiter 6'39 Libra Saturn 28'55 Sagittarius Uranus 7'20 Sagittarius Neptune 28'33 Libra Pluto 27'14 IP: Logged |

At the end of all the "label rejecting", I just want to know what someone has in their pants... because you can't reject that label without a spiteful mutilation of the body you were obviously assigned to.I'm a male. I read once that the heterosexual Scorpio Male is the "lesbian stuck in a man's body", while the heterosexual Libra Female is the "gay man stuck in a woman's body"... I'm not sure if I would go that far, but I definitely feel I can relate to women far better than the other males I meet are able to. IP: Logged |

Some were/are born with variations of both.....there was/is no "obvious"....its a boy! Oops! No..its a girl! Ooops! Huh?????????.....and then doctors chose to mutilate them and assign them a gender...not always the best one for them. I support leaving intersex/androgyne folks alone at birth and allowing them to choose later what one gender they wish to live as. And also I support a third gender of those who are neither or both in whatever variable degree.....AND ARE CONTENT with being the way they are despite society being un-accepting of them. For example... why can't a man have breasts if it is natural? I am not talking obese men only. Men die of breast cancer too...because even the medical community has not educated their techs who do mammographies, and men are too embarrassed to go. It galls me when a flat chested female laughs at a man with a bigger bosum than hers. One would think she'd be more understanding. Which leads to why can't a woman be a woman with a flat chest? I know men who cannot grow facial and body hair, women who can. Men and women come in all sizes and yes, even amongst the straight folks, variations in genitalia and secondary sexual characteristics are not as uncommon as most folks think. ------------------ Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.

Lexx: I feel I agree. If you have both genitalia in your pants, so be it. You've been granted with something rather exceptional, I imagine moving into the Aquarian age will make these cases more frequent. It is an act of nature, and of course I fully accept it. Working with hermaphroditic plants has shown me how easy of an anomaly it is to create... genes, environment, diet, or sometimes just seems like fate. And I agree it is wrong for a doctor to decide a given sex (usually making a female as it's easier to make a quick snip or two). If you have a penis, or a vagina, or both, that is how I'm going to identify you, because when in doubt I get concrete about things. To me, "secondary" sexual characteristics are exactly that. The concept of a man with gynecomastia or female with a flat chest has nothing to do with my argument. IP: Logged |
