Are you online every day? How much time do you ususally spend on the Internet each day? The following questions are complementary, but the above are the main questions.Do you stay up late at night being online? Do you use the Internet while being drunk, stoned, or under the influence or other substances? I'd like to hear from you. I'm interested in how much time people devote to the Internet. D IP: Logged |

If I'm not sober, I generally don't get online. I'm online ALL THE TIME the past 2 years, so... I do stay on very late at night sometimes. Sometimes I'll go weeks without being online, but I work online as well though, so it's very hard to not take a quick jaunt over here .... or to avoid being online in general. When I was working away from home, my internet use significantly dropped, of course, and I felt better, more healthy in general. Yet another reason why I am looking for an additional part time job AWAY from the computer lolIt's crazy how much time is eaten up from being online.

A few hours a day when my work isn't stressing me out. When work is full on, my time online decreases.IP: Logged |

Guys, thanks for sharing!Hey 26taurus, How much is "too much"? That sounds like a lot to me, though! Perhaps I should rephrase my question and make it more specific: How many hours do you spend on the Internet per day, if you are online every day? Are you online every day? So far I get the impression that people are reluctant to respond to this survey- there are two possible causes: either it's my notoriety, and many LL knowflakes tend to ignore me, or in fact most of us spend a great deal of time online that it's virtually an addiction (think "Internet addiction syndrome") and people are not keen on talking about it. But...back to the question. Again, how many hours do you spend on the Internet per day? Do you stay up late being online? D IP: Logged |

It varies. Being disabled I am up and down at any time. So I can be online any time day or night....depending on how I feel physically. My body lost its clock. ------------------ Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain. IP: Logged |

I'm online everyday - I have to be for work. I use the internet A LOT for work.If I didn't use it for work then I'd be on everyday to check emails. So - about 3 or 4 days a week (depending on the week) I am online 5 to 30 minutes per day to check emails. Conversely - 3 or 4 days a week I go online to check out a couple message boards, shop, research things, etc. That maybe adds up to 2 hours per day. IP: Logged |

That is worth pondering, isn't it? I feel the same, too. The invention of the Internet has paradoxical impacts on humankind. On one hand, it speeds up communication and the convenience of access to various information for individuals around the globe, but on the other hand, the Internet is also the virtual reality and such virtual reality often draws people away from real life interactions with other people and one ends up spending more time conversing with others via the computer screen and googling rather than taking time accumulating the ability to relate to people offline or participating in outdoor activities, such as getting close to nature. LEXX, Thanks for the post. But you did not specify how many hours you are online each day on average. Maybe you felt like replying to the thread but refrained from disclosing details you considered personal. In any event, I think my question is quite a touchy subject to many. My next question is: do you spend more time online than offline? Obviously I spend more time offline than online. For the first time in a long time, I feel much healthier this way, when it comes to the use of the Internet. This makes my consciousness clearer. D IP: Logged |

It's like anything else - fine in moderation. One Twinkie tastes good. Ten Twinkies begin to not taste so good. Even with healthy foods - A few prunes are yummy. A pound of prunes would probably have seriously unwanted effects on your digestive system! IP: Logged |

I go on and off and so its hard to figure how long. For example...I get up...and if its a good body day, I pop in from time to time, post and go do something else, then pop in again, post and off again...I am not glued to it. If a bad day...I get up...post, then back to bed....and if a bad night I might post if pain is keeping me up...but then I am finally down....again... So it varies. Actual time at computer on line? Its a few minutes here a few there, over and over throughout the day and night.....it all depends.

MoonWitch,That's very sensitive obsevation. LEXX, Thanks for further explaining yourself. You came up with a smart answer. Adding all the "several minutes (originally termed "a few minutes") here and there" throughout the day and night, how many minutes are there in total? Well, but of course my question was not meant to be an interrogation. I don't mean to push to hard and go to far when dealing with people. And why the smirking smilie? Just curious. But this is not really the point. I look forward to more participation in this discussion. D IP: Logged |

DfD, I really do not know offhand. It can vary radically from day to day or week to week and so forth. I really have not kept track. Not trying to be a smarty pants either. I rarely sleep for more than an hour at a time. Sometimes I lay there, sometimes I get up and go online for 5 to 15 minutes then back to bed. In the morning I get on and check every few minutes on and off...sometimes on and off for only a few minutes, sometimes on and off for a 3 or so hour period, but usually less because I have to lie down a few minutes out of nearly every hour....or be up an hour, down 2, up 2, down 4, and so forth. I am often doing other things too and the internet is something I just pop in and post or check for mail, answer mail..whatever when I get spare moments. Soooo.....I really cannot make an accurate guess...but since you want one. I will guess at a total average on any given day as maybe 2 hours? Maybe more? I really do not know. Does having my computer online some 12 hours a day but only looking in from time to time count? Then my computer is online about 12 hours a day on and off but I am not. Do I stay up late? I do not have a set clock. My body ails rule when I am up or down not the time. quote: LEXX,Thanks for further explaining yourself. You came up with a smart answer. I have tried to answer your query. Sorry it is not the answers you want. quote: And why the smirking smilie? Just curious.
A blend of frustration at not being able to adequately answer your query and embarrassment too. I wish I had not posted here after all. It does feel like an interrogation. IP: Logged |
