I have a bit of the same suspicion, MM.

quote:
You're assuming that these people have a sense of fairness, equality, and justice. And, you're assuming wrongly. They don't.

Yes, I'm assuming that we don't have a monopoly on senses of justice. Colin Powell and Scott McClellan come to mind as recent examples of administration officials who ultimately took issue with the administrations they served.

quote:
As for fundraising records... you can split hairs if you like

It's not splitting hairs. Your statement was overblown. I cut it back down to reality.

quote:
You can't see what you won't allow yourself to imagine.

I think "imagine" is the pertinent term there. Why is it that I should imagine something that goes against my ego's rationality which has born far more positive confirmation than negative confirmation?

quote:
But, hey, go ahead, believe that the rich and powerful have your best interests at heart, if it suits you.

Who ever said any such thing? I didn't. So what kind of argument style is that?

quote:
And, just to be above-board, forward, and honest, you irritate me, AG. Always have, ever since I saw your nickname. Your prior nickname.

I'm not sure what you mean. My username? Are you saying that you as a self-proclaimed "Guru" have trouble with the inclusion of "God" in my name? Or am I the second version of someone from long ago? (I'm not)
I can't stand Blues Traveler, so it's unfortunate you associate me with him.

quote:
You seem to think that Life is a big social event, and that's proven by your thinking that you're going to rock me from my findings through years of research with 5 minutes of Googling. LOL!

No. My aim is to provide my perspective, which is quite a bit different than yours. I've been studying politics for years myself, but I'm not drawn in by conspiracies that don't pass my filters/tests.

quote:
Randall and jwhop are the same person! Hehee... may not be so, but it would explain a lot...

It's definitely not so.

quote:
Your comment upon AG's sign in name in being "irritating" has nothing to to with the topic and you know it will only lead to a heated exchange.

Hopefully what I've said here isn't too heated. I didn't write it with a hot head.

You obviously weren't around when Randall and the rest of the forum collectively agreed to keep LLC free of possible slander and abuse and keep it a place of general DISCUSSION free of fingerpointing.

I agree in theory Xodian but in fairness, l don't see any 'slander or abuse' on MY thread!!!! Therefore, l don't agree in practise. I am sure you understand.
Rogue didn't, imho, slander or abuse anyone. He comes across as being an intelligent yet straight-forward and upfront guy.
No big deal, surely.

Oh Lara, I am so happy to see this post. I was beginning to think it was just me, my partner and David Icke who see Obama for what he is!

It's actually depressing. People cry with happiness and have his picture on their wall. Even the cynical among my friends are sucked into the Obama hype.

It's just another presidential (s)election, nothing more, nothing less.

"But he's signed papers to get rid of Guantanamo Bay" they cry. Of course he has! "Soldiers will be out of Iraq in sixteen months!" the squeal. There's so many easy cards to play to give the appearance of change and hope and freedom. These things would be done regardless of who is president. It's to give the people what they want enough to keep them hanging blindly in there. They push a situation to it's limits and only when people start asking too many questions and expressing severe distaste do they finally make a change, thus saving the day (when they created the problem to begin with!)

we need to wake up.

This is getting lame. I'm in full agreement with discussions like this being in the Global forum.
If some were being more civilized in discussion, I might feel differently, but it's way too late for that at this point.

Lame to you cos we are giving you what you want to hear. It's not my fault you went back to USA thinking Obama was the real deal.

vivid_child.

absolutely. People forget that THEY create the problem in the first place! lol
insanity...

People do need to wake up, and fast. I have lots and lots of friends who feel the same way about Obama. I know hundreds of people in the US who know Obama is just another puppet. Problem is, the masses are sheep and the sheep outnumber the wolves millions to one.

Plus CNN and FOX do a great job of putting icing sugar on everything, the newspapers are owned by those who make money out of war and the US govt.

The list goes on and on and on and on

wow. interesting you care enough to enlighten the the dumb sheep.
It really offends some people when other people tell them they need to wake up.
are the masses in london dumb sheep? or is it just americans you consider stupid? It doesn't matter whether you like it or not, obama is the u.s. president and that is how it is and how it is going to be. I choose not to be offended by your blanket know all attitude, nor am I going to respond to your anti american sentiment, but I will suggest you tone your high handed attitude down, name calling is not for the enlightened.

I love the term we need to wake up. We all do. Government aside, there's more to life than this We have been reduced - we do not live to our potential at all. From what goes on behind the scenes to how we live our everyday lives, it's all relevant and very sad

too funny those living outside of the states can see things as they really are, well, your vote, oh thats right...you didn't get to vote. we accept it as a democracy is what the majority of the general population votes on. So we live with our choices, becasue we made the choice. sheep or not we decide. we live with our decisions. we accept your sentiments as yours, but do not own them, as they are not ours.

i mean really what is the point of this thread? to enlighten americans? the choice has been made.

do americans really care if every individual in the uk is HAPPY or not with our presidetial choices? I don't think so.

so what is the point?

what do you hope will happen as a result of this thread?

well, maybe you need to wake up...it totally implies superiority.

It borders on, if you don't think like I do, you are inferior.

it just is not a way tom ake others see your point, that I know.

No, Lara, I just don't care for the sh!t-stirring, and the presumptuousness about all of this. It's presumptuous to think nobody knows what's going on and doesn't know the 'truth' simply because they're not nodding their heads vigorously at your posts or adding fuel to the fire.
I've never felt it right to outright bash other people's countries - it's one thing to disagree with their policies, it's quite another to completely be disrespectful in tone. Until someone lives in the place and has to deal with the crap directly, this is all just another armchair debate.

I don't even see that many people on here disagreeing with what you're saying, it's just that your overtones presume the worst of others and it's gone from Obama to the government to just plain EVERYONE in the US, and you're generalizing too much.

Oh no, I'd never say to anyone YOU need to wake up. That is totally superior. It's no different to saying we need to change. Or a change. Only more a change in the way we see things and don't ask questions. I include myself which is why I try and learn as much as I can, be it esoteric topics or nature... anything.

What happens in America affects the entire world pretty much. Also it's not about who is president or prime minister, it's more about the process. That's the whole problem of those who are interested - that so much emphasis is put on an individual be it Obama or Brown when the figureheads are just there for show.

If someone is passionate about something they can't help but express their thoughts and feelings I suppose.

I am a very peaceful person and turn away from the most upsetting/infuriating/etcetera situations rather than raise my voice or resort to name calling.

It's nothing to do with the UK or America (not to me at least) but human beings. The human race.

I just read some Icke, and if that's the basis of the Obama opposition, I'm gobsmacked (I believe is the term). I would consider his message rather elementary and alarmist. I didn't read the whole letter he wanted promulgated, but if he knows that this is the way politics works, I don't understand why he's alarmist NOW versus virtually any time. Comparisons to Clinton and Blair, sure...of course! This is how elections are won: by tailoring the message to the least intelligent. That's nothing new. That's not surprising. Getting out the youth vote: of course. Using NLP, check.

I'm flabbergasted that this guy's name would even come up. Seriously.

(I probably should have stayed at his site to see what kind of plan he had to avoid Obama's election.)

I feel somewhat sentimental over Icke. He means well. I said his name in jest, so sorry if it's me that brought him up I do like his letters and presentations but the material doesn't dig deep and is repetitive.

The honeymoon will be over quick I promise.

(I live in the most liberal area of the country, and I can't say that I know any Obama fanatics. I have seen his face on some cubical walls at work, but primarily in celebration of having our first black President.)

Can anyone else see the similarities between these arguments and the Star Wars movies?

In the words of my beloved Obi-Wan, "Only a Sith deals in absolutes". Point.

The Jedi win anyway. Don't worry about it.

If Obama is Palpatine, then I want to be Luke Skywalker. I want blue moon to be Leia. That way she's my sister but I get to kiss her somewhere along the way anyway.

And doesn't that remind you of Isis and Osiris?

Now, where is my lightsaber?
