I saw a shocker last night. It was on a three-DVD compilation I got from a charity shop (I bought it for "When Harry Met Sally" which I think is great) but one of the other ones on it:

"Untamed Heart" starring Christian Slater and Marisa Tomei.

He's a man who has a baboon's heart in a man's body. Yeah, I know.... it was never fully explained. She "acts" every sentence with a breathy voice like she's about to have an orgasm. It is singularly the most diabolical film ever committed to celluloid.

The DVD is going to become a bird-frightener on my bloke's allotment. It frightened this bird alright. PANTS! UTTER PANTS!

but at the IMDb

quote:
A hot property before it went into production, stars like Geena Davis, Demi Moore and Brad Pitt were all vying for roles. Madonna had been particularly interested in the film, lobbying hard for Jason Patric to land the male lead. However, she finally quit trying when the studio decided to go with William Baldwin instead, although ironically Christian Slater has the part in the finished film.

???

i gotta find this movie and watch it.

I've seen that ~ I thought it was alright.

I quite liked George and the Dragon though the Godzalan crew had a little moan about it a while back.

There was a shocking as in very, very bad, not outrageous one I saw about 20 years, weird stuff about people turning themselves inside out, I can't remember the name of it though, long time ago. Friend I was with loved it, heh, horses for courses. Some people like pretentious shite, their affair.

The Marie Antoinette film by Sofia Coppola was quite dire.

The Christian Slater film, "Bed of Roses" comes to mind... though the sexy Aries male I was with thought it was tops. I watched it again recently to see if it really was all that bad thinking I might not have fully taken it in or my taste may have grown or changed but no... it was still lame.

Borat. I made it through 47 minutes, then had to turn it off. First movie I couldn't sit through.

It was an entertaining 47 minutes, but I still shudder.

Bean. I think it was the first and possibly only movie I've considered walking out on.

I've occasionally rented movies I couldn't sit through.

(I didn't mind Bed of Roses, Mel. I like Mary Stuart Masterson a lot. Looks like she's a Cancer, which would explain it.)

Recent ones?

"The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior"
total crap

"What The Bleep"
no comment

"Disaster Movie"
beyond moronic.
not remotely funny.

Old ones?

"The Exorcist"
stupid

And many more I will not watch..you know, the beer guzzling frat boys/T&A/hubba hubba/drooling over bimbos kind of movies.
And slasher/chain saw ones.

Poor Christian Slater.

Worst movie that I can think of right now - Bringing Out The Dead, with Nic Cage. If you're in any way seriously depressed, don't go there.

OMG! How is it that no-one has mentioned this great movie classic. It was hilarious, for all the wrong reasons:

Striptease, with Demi Moore.

Marie Antoinette was pretty bad, but I still watch it just for the costumes.

Twilight was terrible, obviously.

Ummm There Will Be Blood was the first movie I've ever wanted to walk out of.

"The Eye Of The Beholder" with Ashley Judd.

This movie absolutely SUCKED!!!

"Ultraviolet" with Milla Jovovich. Holy smoley this movie was crap!!! I had to fight the urge to leave the theatre early the entire time! Pure trash truck juice I tell you!

"Cabin Fever" Oh my goodness... This dvd became a coaster 1 hour into that rubbish. It was a waste of dvds and ink for the cases.

Dracula 3000. And I have a high tolerance for bad movies (often seeing them as unintentionally hilarious).

Epic Movie. I regret not giving in to the temptation to walk out of this one.

Battlefield Earth.

That's all that come to mind instantly. I'm not counting movies I couldn't stand but I recognize some artistic or other merit within them anyway.

Though oddly, I couldn't stand Revenge of the Sith. The ONLY reason I didn't walk out on it was because I watched it with friends. The odd part is that after I got into something of a silly argument over the story with a True Fan later, I checked the novelization out from the library by Matthew Stover and LOVED it. Seriously, I hate the movie, but love the book. Partly it's the writing style and the mystical poetic style, but there's also a lot of stupid stuff from the movie that's explained, a lot of questions I had answered, and most of all I found the characters believable and worth caring about (unlike the movie). In short, I thought the movie was gaudy trash (I still can't watch it all the way through), but the novelization on it was brilliant. I know, weird.

and Kill Bill. i went to the theatre with someone, and i was itching to just get the hell out after 10 minutes. later i found out the other person also just wanted to get the hell out. we were both trying to be polite to each other and stayed!

I think I might've enjoyed Kill Bill in other circumstances. As it was, I went to see it because I thought it was supposed to be a comedy and satire. I'd seen a very brief commercial on it that made it appear that way and the movie poster was just silly looking. It HAD to be a comedy.

And at the time, no I didn't know who Tarantino was. If I had, I wouldn't have seen it. Fact is, I don't watch movies by him now. After Kill Bill, and finding out he also made Pulp Fiction (which I hated), I swore off his flicks.

The bad part was that I was REALLY depressed and just wanted a comedy and this seemed the closest to one available that I hadn't seen. I came REAL close to trying to get a refund in the first 5 minutes, but decided to give it a chance. After awhile, I was pretty sure I wouldn't get one. There WERE interesting parts, and if I'd gone in prepared for the kind of movie it was, I think I might have enjoyed it. But as it was, it really just depressed me, and I hated that ending. I never saw it again or the sequels.

man, that would be pretty hard, Kill Bill for a depressed.

i just don't really like Tarantino, i thought Pulp Fiction was alright. i get his stance as sort of a copy-cat "reinterpret-and-mush-up" directer, but i thought he totally slipped on his own banana peel and fell into the poo-filled ditch with Kill Bill. wasn't funny AT ALL.

The dumbest decision I made was to allow myself to be talked into seeing the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the 2003 version). The guy who talked me into seeing it had to work very hard to do so. I kept saying no, that slashers freak me out too bad and agitate my PTSD, so not my type of movie, but he kept saying it was more of a comedy that satirizes the slasher genre rather than being one.

After a long while, I decided to be brave and see it. After all, I am fond of satires. And it's nice to hear the Texan accent from time to time (as I have one myself, which singles me out at times). I was--at least at first--comforted by all the children there (later I became downright disturbed by their presence, especially as the content didn't seem to bother them at all).

Whoa. Bad, BAD mistake. I broke out in tears when one character had to kill her friend who was on a meat hook so that he couldn't be tortured anymore, felt such utter homicidal rage at an evil deputy (and his getting run over several times by his own squad car was NOT enough to make up for it), and at some point I actually got up to run because I was so freaked. The only reason I didn't was because the guy who brought me grabbed me and I just buried my face in his chest and covered my ears until I calmed down. I have no idea if this was his plan or if he really believed that this movie was COMEDY. (I can't help but wonder given that real life beatings are recorded and put up on YT as "comedy.")

I never, ever trusted him to recommend a movie again. Yeah, I blame myself for having believed him the first time. But believe me when I say it took a lot for him to convince me.

I also got some small amount of revenge by eating hot, spicy food (being raised in Texas and having eaten a lot of cajun and tex mex, I have a high tolerance), assuring him it wasn't that hot, and then insinuating he was a wimp (in front of others) because he couldn't handle "a little pepper" as I casually ate it (though it burned even me--I still wasn't tearing up like he was). Didn't fully make up for it, but at least it was something.

Btw, I don't mean to say the movie was bad--from a detached PoV, it was excellently done, IMO (that's part of why it was too much for me). However, it's NOT my genre. Just like hot peppers aren't bad, but they're not for everyone.

ahaha, sorry to get the thread topic a bit off the track, but speaking of splatter, i don't mind bloody stuff. what freak the hell out of me is rape scenes, and psychological horror. i NEVER watch anything with these things.

but, this Spanish movie El Orfanato was GREAT (which i watched accidentally with a friend who also never watches horror). REALLY well done. it received and was nominated to over 60 awards. Me, who never ever ever ever like any horror movies, saying this. so if you are into these movies you should watch it. my friends said they were more freaked out by my suddenly grabbing them and screaming though.

ok back to the worst movies.

i was just gonna say that, Node! i watched all of it but did NOT watch the rape scene. i closed my eyes and ears, and made the friend tell me when it was over, and it went on and on. even he didn't want to really watch it because it was terrible.

ok, in my opinion the movie was... shocking but rather mediocre. it started very enigmatic, and the opening scene didn't ring with the rest of the movie in an effective way. and, yes the way the story is told is intriguing, but honestly, there would have been better plots that suited the technique better. i really didn't see much point in the director telling the story the way he did. it was interesting, but it sort of stopped there, don't you think?

but sure, if you don't mind the rape scene (or just not watch that part), it's worth a watch. it's not a must though.

haha, wheels, that sounds umm interesting!

funny too cuz as soon as you mentioned slater i remembered bed of roses. the story was okay enough and cute, but his acting was just awful, in this way that you really just wanted to reach through the screen and tell him he was gonna be okay. like he was super nervous and self-conscious the whole time.

i had a horrible horrible week or so after watching the last king of scotland. great movie, though, but made me completely sick and sad in a way another movie never ever has.

I agree with you, GotGemini; that was the most retarded thriller/suspense flick I have ever seen. I cannot believe I wasted nine dollars to see that in theaters some years back.

Another one that comes to mind is "Glitter". Oh man, Mariah Carey can sing her @ss off and I love her for it but she cannot act to save her life.
