Like them.

If I didn't I would go by a nickname or an abbreviation.

Websy, I like your real name. Only ever met one person with it over here, it's not uncommon as in unheard of but its not all over the place.

EDIT: What am I talking about? A significant proportion of people already call me by an abbreviation or initial. I sign by my initial.

I also answer to my mother's name. It saves time explaining to those few people who always do this, I had an Uncle who never called me by my own name.

I love the names Lara, Laura, and Lauren. In my experience, I've found that these names appear to be more common among heavily Venusian women.

Blue Moon:

I once read that Justin was the 5th most popular boy's name in the U.S. in 1982 (year of my birth), and it seems I run into Justin's everywhere.

Obviously it means "Justice", which I like, and find this very much inherent to my nature and rather reflective of my heavy Libran influence.

I don't know, something about the aural ring of "Justin" sounds rather juvenile to me. I don't consider it a very adult or distinguished name.

My first name is alright, i'm not in love with it though. I like the meanings it carries. I'll be changing my last name at some point. I'm not too fond of it and dont think it fits.

I like my name a lot, it's just that many people mispronounce it because it's not common, or western.
I used to hate it when I got the US because it was too different, and sounded weird to others, even though it's really common in Middle Eastern countries.

My first name means "bearer of happiness/she who makes happy" but the old fashioned name (circa 1642) gleaned me much teasing as a child/teen.
If I were living in Europe it might be a better accepted name....being it is used by some royalty in the Netherlands and England.
My initials also gave rise to horrible hurtful acronyms.
My middle name I like, it means "queen of the faerie".
And also, one of the Fates, a fairy, and fair.

I'm right there with you on that. I'm Jason, which I've heard here has some association with Scorpio, but it was the same deal: very common, very juvenile.

_____________

My first name is misspelled. You can't think my Virgo Moon is happy about that.

My last name sounds similar to a descriptive word you might use to describe someone you don't like. It's uncomfortable enough that people mispronounce it even though it's supposed to be pronounced exactly like it's spelled. I'm trying to make peace with it. I'm trying to make peace with all my names really.

My first two name combine to mean Gifted Healer. That's not bad.

I used to hate it when I was school aged and wanted to be like everyone else since everyone else had an easier-to-pronounce-Common-Western name....even my parents, brother and sister do!! I live in the U.S. so I kept wondering why I was the one stuck with the burden of a phonetically challenging foreign name. Its always been a nightmare on the first day of class, even into college.

Now, I don't mind it anymore, I've even accepted it. But I usually have people call me by the shortened version of my name. I cringe when most people *attempt* to pronounce my name...LOL.

I don't mind my name. It can be made to rhyme with some rather unfortunate titles, that kids used to make up at school. It's quite an ordinary and common name. I didn't always like it. But I've come to see that it suits me.

for the name playground Lexx. They had the spelling for my first on the front page: Margarett - a spelling I thought was uncommon till I googled my full name, and found myself all over the country. With identity theft it's prob. important to use middle initials on all forms.
As a spin- numerology in name changes. I read in Nick Newmont's Newmerology about name changes. I seriously considered changing mine for years, dropping the last name and just going with Margarett Erin. Lousy last name, and poor father figure. He [Newmont] also went into some famous name changes, and the effect on the famous i.e. Prince. Profiles of Corporate names were also interesting, Google, and Amazon were destined to succeed according to him - because of the name on the stock and inception dates.
And I worked with three Jason's at one restaurant. Luckily, two of them went by nicknames.

My name was my biggest peeve for a long time - most people misspell and mispronounce it - horribly and usually confuse it with similar sounding names

But now i have grown to accept it and love it.

I like my nickname better then my full name, I was named after a Russian wrestler, Nikita Colei or something and it was misspelled. Instead of the second (I), it's an (A) but I just go by my nickname nowadays which is Kita.

I love my name (Gabriella). It's very sophisticated and classic, yet not common. It was barely in the top 1000 when I was born (now it has climbed a LOT, I think it might be 70something).

Unfortunately, it has a more common variant (Gabrielle) and people call me that instead of my name. It makes me mad, actually.

I'm very picky about names because I used to go to name message boards all the time. I am so glad my parents didn't give me a trendy name. I was ALMOST named Rebecca (and I would've been known as "the asian Rebecca" or "Rebecca H" for the rest of my life), but thankfully my mom didn't like it. She also liked Angelica, which I love as well.

Gabriella also lends itself to many nicknames. Generally, I go by Gabbi.

Mine are the stupidest names ever and I loathe them. My parents have never called me by my proper first name, they call me by an informal version of it. My real first name is Welsh and so impossible to pronounce that even Welsh people have arguments over its pronunciation, which begs the question - why give a child such an impossible name if you have no intention of using it? Especially as nobody speaks Welsh round here, so something in Sanskrit or Urdu would have been just as stupid. Happy days!

The last name is so peculiar that taxi drivers have not shown up, thinking I was a crank caller.

I have never identified with my first name and I couldn't wait to offload my maiden name.
I have always had nicknames and pet names. very few people call me by my first name.
I keep it because my brother (who died when he was seven)wanted to name me otherwise i would have ditched it.
And the relief to get a surname that people recognised was bliss.
I changed my name with all three marriages but have gone back to my first married name.

Strangely I don't feel it's lucky for me so if you ever have a spare moment LEXX???

^^^ Hmm, you've reminded me Bunnies that the only thing I do like about my name is you can lexi my whole name (first, second and surname) out of my boyfriend's name. That pleases me.

i used to hate my name as its quite old fashioned...

when i hit the age of 17 i changed it - and completely lost who i was, which was strange, and its only in the past couple of years that i've reverted back and feeling better than ever about it!
