quote: Yes, I see you as ridiculous, not because I'm egotistical and don't want others to think me little, but because I THINK YOUR RIDICULOUS. Ridiculousness is not a state that can be proven, it's an opinion, which states the preference of those who say something is ridiculous. And... I don't like you. I think you're a pathetic a**hole to be frank. And yes, you're entitled to say that doesn't matter to you, but consequently, I will then not respect you, which yes, is currently already the case, BUT THE POINT IS that's because you've already been yourself to my presentation (and I say be yourself, not because I think it's all that is in you, but because it is how I referred to it before), and so already it has taken effect. The significance of this is that you will likely find a considerable amount of people are not attracted tot he traits you expose. And they have opinions, and if you want to prove to them that they are wrong, you're going to have to find out what is right, and what you're saying isn't convincing.

But I do think you rely too much on "ultimate truth".Oh really? Maybe that just proves you don't know me either and we're "even". "Pain is only an opinion" is a well-known Native American saying. Maybe I should not have told you about that one, lol No, maybe you shouldnt have blown my conscious up for something it want ready for. Ouch. j/k IP: Logged |

Ghani and I met once. We exchanged some emails. Nothing much to that. And do you still think that harsh language is the thing that's gonna get through to me? After everything, are you really that naive? I call myself a pathetic a$$hole, and plenty more besides. Do you think it means anything coming from the internet? Do you think it does anything besides wound my spirit more, and turn me into even more of a pathetic a$$hole? Tell me you aren't really so foolish as to believe that. But I know, that is not your concern or interest. At best, you only hope to "scare" me away with criticism. But that doesnt appear to be working, either, does it? I'm a lot of things... and you all want to cram me into some box, and slap a label on it: "Good Man" or "Pathetic A$$hole" And you all believe that it is in my power to change, and you all think you know that my struggle is manageable. So you continue to blame me when these inner forces take over. And the more honest I am about this, the more "ridiculous" I appear, because what I am saying doesnt fit with your assumptions about life. But, all that is beside the point. What is important is that, just becuase I'm wounded, doesnt mean that everything coming out of my mouth is wrong. Even at my best, you would still object to my ideas, but as it is now, you can just object to my personality, and dismiss my ideas without a second thought.... Until Zala says it, and then, you have to explain. Its funny.... You can't believe you have to explain your p.o.v. All I do is take the time and effort to explain, explain, explain. I do not assume that my point of view goes without saying. And I'm sure you dont laugh maliciously at these things... But I wonder if you care at all about the larger picture, about the "hits" you are giving to that website, and how it encourages this voyeuristic culture, and how it affects the real people who are being ridiculed. You seem to have absolutely no empathy for them. It's not that you are cruel, -- you just don't care. And that is something I do not understand and maybe never will. And I may be crazy, I may be unstable, or just selfish and lazy -- whatever makes it easy for you to put my in my box, and set me off to the side somewhere for future judging, -- but I am still smart as a whip, and I have truckloads of empathy for people who are judged and ridiculed the way those people are. peace IP: Logged |

"Wait. You mean Kim (Kardashian)'s thighs aren't perfectly creamy white, but instead blotchy and full of varicose veins? Jesus, it's like everything I ever known is a lie. I should probably go down to the nudie bar and make sure the strippers are still real. With my hands".Sorry, I think that's hilarious. Less so because of Kim Kardashian (who?) but because the bloke can turn a funny phrase. This site is as it ever was all through history. Poking fun at the hoi polloi. Some of these famous people are like Marie Antoinette or George IV and think they're bloody special. I refuse to fawn over these people. IP: Logged |

HSC ~ What a silly thing to say. There's a wide gulf between pointing out the real life physical imperfections of a usually well airbrushed celebrity and dousing him or her with gasoline. Calm yourself down.ditto again, wheels IP: Logged |

A much more palatable post then the rest, thank you.Historically, sufis are famous (infamous?) for befriending King and pauper alike. I won't bore you with a long list of Emperors and Sultans blessed with a sufi or two in their inner circle. There are several reasons for this, one of which being, yes, the ability of a sufi to see beyond worldy station, while still taking into account the reality of the situation. So, a nice point you make, but irrelevant to the argument. I neither love nor hate Kim Kardashian or Nicole Kidman or any other famous Hollywood goddess - just because they are rich and/or famous. What I do find fault with is the average man, woman and, maybe more importantly, child persuaded by incessant media brow beating into the belief that these folks are somehow different, somehow better. The all too prevalent, unstated opinion that these celebrities are the model to which we should turn. That's my concern, HSC. Granted, being a 30 year old man, this scene might not make your stomach turn over they way it might any woman reading it. But I'll take a shot anyway... Sometime ago, while standing in line at the supermarket, I watched a little girl in front of me, maybe 11 or 12 years old, staring at a diplay of celebrity magazines. Right on cue she whined "I'm fat". (she very much wasn't) That girl needs to be shown a picture of Ms Kardashian's blotchy, spider vein filled thigh. I think the essential line here is "that just dvides the desert from the sown". If you understand my meaning IP: Logged |

Well put, Tink. Thanks, T. I'm not often a person to actually bust out with exactly what I think, I tend to keep it in for the sake of other people's feelings. Eff that, gives me ulcers. If it's okay for others, I guess it's okay for me, too. Oh, and no, I don't know what flavor baby yet. I find out in 10 days what the sex is. Pretty excited about that. Not excited that I have severe dysplasia and have to get a biopsy next Thursday, but it's all relative. All that matters is it won't effect the baby's health. IP: Logged |

TINK,I realize this is a highly charged emotional issue, but the arguments you provide only make the problem clear; they do not confirm that your approach is the solution. The thing is... The same magazines that exalt these people also abuse them. So, basically, you are supporting the thing you despise, and despising the thing you support, as I see it. Even to put your attention on them is specious, particularly when it is not the attention of loving-kindness. Namaste hsc

Ah, but who decides what THE Truth is?? There are those at this site who loftily spout what they claim are Universal Truths..... is that THE Truth?? And I agree ghani, there are some who think "MY truth is THE Truth" and go about witnessing with their/THE truth, and batter us with their truth, urging us to see their truth as THE (Real) Truth..... Good points, you two. I don't believe we've been properly introduced. You should both read some of my posts sometime. I'm constantly talking about how truth is relative, and how every situation is utterly unique, and cannot be reduced to an absolute. This is a HUGE part of what I do. I'm so glad we're all back on the same page. Love you guys.

Zala,There's no such thing... Hence war and misunderstanding. I used to say the only way for universal peace was through universal truth, but that will never be possible because we all have our own perceptions based on emotion. I'm okay with my truth for now though, everything else has taken a back burner for the time being. (not sure if you tongued us on purpose or not, but that was funny.. lol) IP: Logged |

Wishing you and baby wellness, Ghani. I had to cancel my doctor's appt this morning because I became so violently ill (menstrual cycle related). Finally able to hold down some ibuprofen now. Really looking forward to finding out what's going on. My periods really throw me for a loop. I thought I was going to die this morning. In a couple of days I should be able to think straight and start feeling normal again. Ugh. Good quote!

LOL You may be right, TINK. I'm not sure. But do you think the caption under the picture should also say (cleverly) how unappealing her thigh looks? You think this is going to help that little girl? Really? Praising them for being what they are not, or ridiculing them for being what they are, -- don't you see that it amounts to the same thing? Where is the just division between the desert and the sown? Please, help me to understand your paradoxical wisdom. These questions remain obscure to me. Incidentally, great thighs DO exist. And men DO love them. Fact of life. And most of the women I know with great thighs get lots of exercise, in order to stay in shape. So, they have worked for their figures, to some extent. Plenty of these celebs spend hours every week, or day, in the gym. And men are always going to be attracted to healthy figures. We can't cover the ground with rubber soles.. And we can't go around covering up beautiful women.
No, wait, I'm mistaken. We can, and do. IP: Logged |

I'm sorry to hear that! Oh, my cycles were not pleasant when I had them, I feel your pain to the best of my ability. I hated feeling unable to function because of it, I often felt it made me seem like the "weaker sex" if I complained at work or whatever. How dumb was I? Do you have the really severe kind that has a diagnosis? If so, i'm really sorry... It can be so debilitating. I find, as much as the initial pain is often worse, if you do some acupressure on your BG 38, about 1/3 of the way up your calf on the mid-lateral side of your leg, it can help. I hope you feel better! Rest up, have some tea, and cozy with a fuzzy blanket. IP: Logged |

26T and Ghani, I'm with you on the period stuff, I've actually had to go to the emergency room from it! One thing which has worked really, really well for me as well is vitamin E and evening primrose capsules. My doctor recommended them and they've worked incredibly. Less to no cramps, no booby pain (although I kind of enjoy going up a cup size around that time ), and just a lot better. IP: Logged | |
