It would be nice if TINK or Juni would start a thread someday.

Thank you for the suggestion I'm not often inspired to begin a thread on this site. But if the thought ever presents itself, you can be sure that I will.

yes i wrote it.
keep writing.
keep venting.
keep arguing and ultimately working it out.
you definately need the outlet.
i understand, as i need it too.
you being you makes it ok for me to be me sometimes. i know that probobly doesn't make sense to you, but i am not one to hide behind a facade and play pretend games in life or anywhere. sometimes i get too in to my head and for too long and it takes some retarded joke or happening to get me to snap out of it and lighten up. have to, oroverload and nervous breakdown won't be far away. have to shut it off. to catch myself up. you cant really talk to people a whole lot about these things, they don't understand, most people's deepest thought is what to order for lunch today.
anyway, take care.
oh - 15 years younger - hhhmmmm--- wouldn't switch those years out if i could, i like now better.

Well, I think being married would help.

And I'm sure I'll have more insight,
and a more serious approach, when I'm forty.
((had to dig to reassure myself of the spelling of that word, lol))

No, chauvinism would not account for all the antiquated rules.
But it does suggest that not all the traditions are respectable.

A man, or a teaching, that is not distorted by its time is a miracle indeed,
and, if you know of one, I would very much love to hear all about it.
I still manage to hold Kabbalah, and much ancient wisdom in high regard,
despite the fact that, everywhere, the past is tinged with impurities.
If we get hung-up on the faults, we may lose sight of what is best.
There are many chauvinistic remarks attributed to Paul the Apostle,
for instance, but we don't allow these to blind us to what he said in the Spirit.

I never thought I would be told to swallow a tradition whole,
or, else, to have nothing whatsoever to do with it.
That sort of black and white approach just seems slavish.
I allow my own needs and intuition to guide me.
I approach established religions with a "cafeteria" mentality,
taking only what looks good to me, discarding what does not.
As I understand it, this is what the founders of religions do, too.

wonder what made me do that? Yesterday I picked up a birthday cake and had my friend's name spelled incorrectly on it. I guess I'm on a roll. thanks, I'll fix it

I don't think Paul was a chauvinist. But I realize I hold the minority opinion there.

Seperating the wheat from the chaff can be difficult at first. I hope that after time, it becomes easier as we grow accustomed to the taste of wheat. I agree that we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water here. I'm saying that the forty rule and the married rule gives me pause and makes me wonder if there isn't more to the story.
