There was a study done where people were asked to form an opinion on someone based on their facebook profiles, and what they did was take the same profile but change the number of friends that person had. People perceived people with under a 100 friends as losers and people with over 600 friends as someone who is just in it to collect friends to seem more popular.

People delete friends on facebook for a variety of reasons, and usually it's a more benign reason than being secretly jealous of one's popularity. If you have a 1000 friends, how close are you to all of them? I've deleted people that go to my school but I've maybe had one conversation with them and I doubt I'll have another in the forseeable future. I have 400 and I could stand to delete a few people I don't even remember.

lara- your not a bad person and you dont need to feel bad because your a women. if other women hate you dont be bugged about it. because its not your fault your who you are and your just living your life and doing what you do.

i am a guy and i became your friend because i though that you were smart and an intresting conversationalist. and your a really nice person. and it wasnt because i thoght your were the most beautiful thing in the world.

p.s your are a beauty and dont forget it. if other women have a problem with you who cares. look at yourself and say damn i am loved my by kids. and my family. plus as i always say dont let someons problem with you become your own.
