NOOOOoooo!!!!Of course they don't. They just want a tasty meal. Cruetly never crosses their mind. And, yet, one cannot eat meat without participating in acts of horrific cruelty, consciously or unconsciously. I'm not saying all meat-eaters should be shot for participating in this mega-holocaust, but, the least they can do is take a good look at what they are doing, and who it is hurting. We may think we all know what is going on, and what choices we are making for ourselves and for these tortured and slaughtered animals, but have we really ever taken a good look? Have we? If not.. What are we afraid of? What is the worst that could happen? We lose our appetites? For flesh? Let's take a look, shall we? WARNING To Meat Eaters: Watch this only if you really want to know what your dollars and actions are contributing to!!! I have seen A LOT in the past that show how terrible animals are treated. I love animals. I am a huge animal rights advocate. I also love their meat. I guess that makes me a hypocrite? My motto is, "I love you so much, I could eat you." However, here's some food for thought: According to some, plants do feel pain. I don't doubt it. I do garden and sing to my gardenia plant. It's fussy and won't grow unless it feels love (and a good high acidity soil lol). So, here are some interesting links: http://www.department13designs.com/vegan.html http://plantsfeelpain.com/ http://www.uncoveror.com/plants.htm Anyway. I just wonder, you know. Just because something isn't writhing and screaming and expressing pain in the way we associate doesn't mean it doesn't feel pain. Maybe it does. I can't imagine what this means for us. No eating? We're predators. We kill everywhere we go. Bugs. Animals. Hearts. Each other lol. Bacteria. Fungus. Just saying.... I mean, some people hunt. We once hunted for food to survive. Is that bad? I think it's bad if we didn't kill properly. I think there's a pact between the hunter and the hunted, that should be respected. There's a reason why torture of animals is bad for carnivores too - too much adrenaline going through the system makes the meat tougher. And of course, it's just needless suffering. I have no problems with vegans or vegetarians, btw. If they don't want to eat meat or eggs or drink milk, fine. I can respect it. I can see that side. I take it you're a vegetarian/vegan? Yeah, I think it's absolutely horrible too. I don't think I impose too much reliance fore the companies that do this, though of course that's what everyone says that, and you can ever-readily strike me with "it all adds up", and I know that. I bought a triple cheeseburger at Wendy's yesterday late night, early this morning really, I was out with friends we just watched a movie etc.Anyway yeah, it blows. IP: Logged |

MyVirgoMask Folks also do not realize that when just walking on one's lawn, thousands of bugs are killed. I know this is true as I have counted the bugs, and used a magnifying glass too, to count the average number of bugs, beetles, grubs, worms, mites, nematodes, larva, and so forth in the first 1 1/2 to 2 inches of soil. Add in the grass above and the count goes higher. Agricultural spraying kills more than weeds and harmful insects. There are many ugly things about the growing of plant crops that most folks are totally unaware of. It is rarely a pastoral fantasy of harmless gardening.

HSC...I have personally viewed/experienced such things in real life. I do not need to watch your videos. As a kid from a big family....we had hogs.... I know quite well how sausage is made. Also I cannot load them and have no intentions of getting a YouTube account.

HSC, do you actually read any of the posts in your thread? I asked you a question. Maybe you might consider talking about your own feelings on the subject instead of simply flinging a rather obvious platitude? Pretty please? I'm more interested in how YOU feel instead of this other stuff you use as a smoke screen. It's like you leave yourself out of your own thread. It feels a bit impersonal. Not objective. Impersonal. Big difference, by the way. IP: Logged |

MVM, I hear you.
We had a long discussion about this recently, maybe somebody will come up with the link. I entertain all sorts of far-out ideas, so, I know what you mean about the plants. Sometimes, though, we just have to work with the most obvious realities, don't we? Well, that's what people keep telling me, and I think I'm starting to get the picture. One of the articles I read was written from a very spiritual perspective, and it was talking about how, ideally, you can feed yourself on sunlight. Or, who knows, maybe there is even a more pure way than that. But there are degrees to which consuming things is harmful, to other sentient beings, and to ourselves, karmically. According to the "guru" who wrote the article, it is much much much worse to eat flesh than plantlife, although, it is true that plants feel something akin to pain. All life should be revered and respected, and no sacrifice should be made unless it is the most humane thing that can be done within reason. Love to you, HSC

LEXX, yes - the thing with bugs is interesting. I was reading a personal account on a Buddhist monk somewhere who was realizing that as he was spending so much time fighting off his own desires, he was killing bugs as he walked in a meditative state. It sent him into a tailspin. IP: Logged |

Which thread did you reply in? I've been pretty busy, definitely ignoring a lot of posts. I dont know what platitude you mean, but I'll try to give you a more thorough response, if you ask me for it nicely. I don't think I'm using any smoke-screens. I feel pretty in-touch with my feelings lately. Your criticism may have some value, but I don't feel obligated to stick around, or even to offer up my own thoughts on all things. Lately, with all these planets in Aries, I've been feeling more comfortable as a catalyst. I am happy just to see that others are thinking and talking. I answer who I want to, where I want to, and when I want to. I hope that works out for you. Love and love. hsc IP: Logged |

It is just not right to post about a controversial topic, one that many are sensitive about....and then to sit back and watch....or wait to stir folks up.

LEXX, Last I checked...
I am not subject to any law that says I must answer to you, or to anyone else here. Years of experience here has shown me how often my own penetrating questions are dismissed and not given their due. If it is an offense, there are many here who are far far more guilty of it than myself. That's all I have to say about that right now. If you are sincerely interested in what I think, and not just looking for a fight, you can ask me politely. hsc

Asking a valid question is not being impolite nor rude. MVM and I both asked and you went all evasive and when repeatedly asked you refused to answer... that is rude and you know it. Go sit in a corner and contemplate your navel. More your speed. A bot would make better conversation and sense than you are doing here. Have fun!IP: Logged |

Ok, if you've been ignoring posts, HSC, I can understand that. But on your own THREAD...I would say, maybe give a little of yourself on the matter? "...but I'll try to give you a more thorough response, if you ask me for it nicely." More nicely than this? : "Pretty please? I'm more interested in how YOU feel instead of this other stuff you use as a smoke screen." How much nicer do you need? With a cherry on top ? It's a simple question without motive. You certainly don't HAVE to answer it if you don't want it. But I don't think it's unnatural to ask, given the nature of the question about personal lifestyle, and it's delivery. IP: Logged |

MVM,No, I am not a vegetarian. I still eat chicken and fish. I gave up everything else, though. And I am trying now to only go with free-range chicken. Eventually, I want to become entirely vegan. I've tried several times to do it cold-turkey and it failed. So, I decided to allow myself chicken and seafood. This way, I was able to give up everything else fairly easily. It has been, I think, something like four months now. And I only slipped up and ate meat 2 or 3 times in that time. Self-control is not one of my strong suits, lol, so, I am really proud of myself for making it this far. Hope that answers your question.
