I agree LEXX.. LOVE and LOATHE cannot meet ever or cross paths. We are talking about UNCONDITIONAL love though and l observe that most love is far from UNconditional IP: Logged |

I don`t like the term "loathe" actually. I really think love and loathe cannot exist simultaneously.BUT there may be conflicts or even conflicting feelings in the connection to a certain person. Maybe that is the ambivalence rather than love / loathe? Like I can differentiate between the constant traits of a person and a momentary behaviour. I can love a person deeply and yet not agree with their acting in a given situation.
But I think if you get down to the core, it`s "either" - "or". Either you love a person (or at least to the most part) or you don`t.

"Somebody who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person." ~ dave barry Following that logic...
Who has unconditional love for a single individual, will have unconditional love for all individuals.
For, as true love lacks conditions, it lacks the condition of the beloved.

Sometimes the conflict may be inside YOU though.Like, you have that affection and feelings for someone that you really shouldn´t have, cause it`s not appropriate for some reason. Being torn between your own feelings and your thoughts of what is appropriate may create a great internal conflict for you, which may be projected as a "hot-cold"-connection (depending on what inner voice you listen to). Of course probably we should first answer the question: What is love?IP: Logged |

Since the thread is about emotional love, yes they both can and will exist. If ambiguous Spiritual Love was the question, then no, it could not simultaneously exist. I wonder what happens when we reach that point. Do we just explode into rays of perfect light?
And then realize we are still in the body, but transformed; having become buddhas?
There must be so many layers, or levels (like TINK was trying to say), through which we pass, as we learn to transmute emotion (soul) into spirit.

The unconscious is always barrelling into consciousness, like a river shrouded in darkness and headed for the light. This is the Big Bang, and the emanation from Ein Sof. This is it. THIS is it.
The eternal movement of Creation. Its all of us, isn't it?

This is my definition of LOVE:I love this woman.. she was so wise. excerpt from a book written in 1928
""A woman came to me in deep distress. The man she loved had left her for other women, and said he never intended to marry her. She was torn with jealousy and resentment and said she hoped he would suffer as he had made her suffer: and added, "How could he leave me when l loved him so much?" I replied "You are not loving that man, you are hating him, " and added "You can never receive what you have never given. Give a perfect love and you will receive a perfect love. Perfect yourself on this man. Give him a perfect, unselfish love, demanding nothing in return, do not criticise or condemn, and bless him wherever he is." She replied, "No, l won't bless him unless l know where he is!!" "Well" l said "that is not real love" "When you send out real love, real love will return to you, either from this man or his equivalent, for if this man is not the divine selection, you will not want him. As you are one with God, you are one with the love which belongs to you by divine right". "When you are no longer disturbed by his cruelty, he will cease to be cruel, as you are attracting it through your own emotions." Florence Shovel Shinn Your word is your wand

I have read that story before. It`s a nice one.And yes I definitely think, sometimes what we need (what is good for us, meant for us in a divine sense) and what we want is not the same thing. I don´t know who said that, but I always liked that saying: If you love someone, set him free. if he comes back, he`s yours. if he doesn`t, he never was.
(well, I know that noone is really another one`s "Yours"; I`d rather prefer the term "belong", but that is just my personal preference). IP: Logged |

Maybe you read it in LL DD, l have posted it about 4 times now LOLYes HSC, Florence was a writer in the 1920's. Here are two other quotes i just LOVE: I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naive or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman. ****** A letter to Josephine from Napoleon: I awake all filled with you. Your image and the intoxicating pleasures of last night, allow my senses no rest. Sweet and matchless Josephine, how strangely you work upon my heart. Are you angry with me? Are you unhappy? Are you upset? My soul is broken with grief and my love for you forbids repose. But how can I rest any more, when I yield to the feeling that masters my inmost self, when I quaff from your lips and from your heart a scorching flame? Yes! One night has taught me how far your portrait falls short of yourself! You start at midday: in three hours I shall see you again. Till then, a thousand kisses, mio dolce amor! but give me none back for they set my blood on fire.

"A Thousand Kisses Deep" Leonard Cohen Don't matter if the road is long Don't matter if it's steep Don't matter if the moon is gone And the darkness is complete Don't matter if we lose our way It's written that we'll meet At least, that's what I heard you say A thousand kisses deep
I loved you when you opened Like a lily to the heat You see, I'm just another snowman Standing in the rain and sleet Who loved you with his frozen love His second hand physique With all he is and all he was A thousand kisses deep I know you had to lie to me I know you had to cheat You learned it on your father's knee And at your mother's feet But did you have to fight your way Across the burning street When all our vital interests lay A thousand kisses deep I'm turning tricks I'm getting fixed I'm back on boogie street I'd like to quit the business But I'm in it, so to speak The thought of you is peaceful And the file on you complete Except what I forgot to do A thousand kisses deep Don't matter if you're rich and strong Don't matter if you're weak Don't matter if you write a song The nightingales repeat Don't matter if it's nine to five Or timeless and unique You ditch your life to stay alive A thousand kisses deep The ponies run The girls are young The odds are there to beat You win a while, and then it's done Your little winning streak And summon now to deal With your invincible defeat You live your life as if it's real A thousand kisses deep I hear their voices in the wine That sometimes did me seek The band is playing Auld Lang Syne But the heart will not retreat There's no forsaking what you love No existential leap As witnessed here in time and blood A thousand kisses deep
