Having started reading the froums again after a while away - mainly at work - and working in an office full of guys, Im constantly getting comments like "Are you reading a pink website?"

Im running out of replies, having already used up:-
"No, its just the way the light shines on my screen"
"You need to get your eyes checked Pal"
"Arm-wrestle, right now"

Bloody pink forum... at least post a few pictures of tanks and football...

Does the pink make you feel insecure about your manliness?

Who decided pink had to be feminine anyway?

My friend's favorite color is purple and he's a typical guy into "manly" things like jujitsu, and gears of war.

Maybe it does impact my manliness. Shouldnt really deny it. For example, I would never wear pink shirts or pink ties to the office like some guys do.

I got the exact comments about the pink site when I was working in an office....I'd come through here looking at the old threads to look up some astro stuff, and a guy would pass my chair and go..."Wow. That's a pink site."
LOL.

My father wears pink all the time!

Pink is a fine color. Presidents have worn pink ties (people in office in America generally wear variations of blue or red ties). Why so scared?

Tangent:
I'm sort of sick of the fact that since men some how have an aversion to the color pink (social construction), marketers are afraid to brand products used by both genders as pink and reserve that color specifically for women. It's kind of insulting. It's like, if women like it, men must not like it or else they are wussy idiot ladies.

I don't mind pink at all, it just makes it incredibly hard to skive at work.

Amowls, good point about the marketing, thats definitely how the colour pink has evolved. Im sure your dad looks a lot better in pink than I do Maybe in this case, Im a victim of a social idea about something, time to re-evaluate?!

Wheelsofcheese, so true - pink stands out like a sore thumb!!! Makes it so much harder to dodge work and do some surfing when Pink is staring your boss in the face!

** Does the forum have to be pink!!!??? **
no ..
you can specify your own choice of colors ..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
from an earlier version of Internet Explorer ..
open up the Prefrences dialogue box ..
select 'Web Content' ..
de-select the 'Allow Page To Specify Colors' ..
change the Background color - Texts color - Read Links - Unread Links ..
to the colors of your choice ..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the current LL background colors-layout .. for reading text off ..
is one of the 'easiest-on-the-eyes' that i've seen on the web.

There's a citrus scented bottle of shower gel in my bathroom. Unloved except for me, it's not the smell, it's the pink bottle. No-one else will touch it (all boy house except for me and the cat).

For a chick, I am anti-pink pretty much. I never liked the color much. But this is more of a lavender, really.

Ok, I really do sound like chick now

wheels, effin excellent idea, luv.

Alone? You're not betel, mate of mine did one of those executive dressing courses where they tell you what colour shirts you should be wearing. He was disgusted to see a spectrum of pinks and purples. No chance, he said, I'm not wearing pink. Quite stridently, which I wondered about coming from a quite camp gay man. Maybe he just doesn't like pink. I don't either, nor purple for that matter.

I got the boys some yellow squirty soap. Liquid in a bottle so they don't stick it straight up their butts. Sorry to be crass, but it's a minging habit isn't it? I wash my face with that soap! Well, no, I don't now, I have the pink stuff all to myself.

Pink is the new black. Guys can wear pink shirts and ties. And, it's a shade of purple anyway.

This is totally my problem, too. It's not that I don't like it, but that it prohibits me from visiting it in public. I'd love to put on a show of being some big macho astrologer who knows what he's doing and blah blah blah, but the pink really defeats all in modern prejudice.

Aw snohawk

Fun fact though: girls like a guy that's not afraid of girly things. Because that means that we can make them watch Sex and City with us

Snohawk, you should make a film of your friend Tom screaming as he barges in on you on you on the computer, 'pink' screen in the background

Seen it! lol The movie, that is (wasn't great). The show isn't a big draw for me. Put on some Project Runway, though, and I'm game to watch.

For the record, I'm ok with pink.

I really hate that some societies assign gender
labels to colors.
Color is genderless.
Societal conditioning traps people into assigning gender to colors.
This is so very wrong!
Colors should not be classed in such a way.
It leads too often to unkindness and stereotyping, so people are afraid to use, wear, express, and so forth....
their personal love for whatever color they love, or colors.
Pink is for girls, blue is for boys.
Why?
A boy who loves pink or pastels is insulted.

Or giving attributes to colors.
Folks who wear black, labeled witches even nowadays, or dark and evil.

Color is also subjective and objective.
I love to wear black, yet love all colors, but would not wear them.
I love nature colors, not black as to what I see round me.
I love shockingly bright rich colors in some objects.

Rose, dusty rose, mauve, pale burgundy, pink coral...the list goes on for pinks for guys.
When a man or a woman is sure of themselves, subscribing to the concept of gender stereotyped color does not apply.
