Yeah, I just got them today - I came home, and mom said my sister had gotten them at our town's little "community resource center". As far as I can tell, we probably got them for free. Anyway, here's the list.Wisdom in the Stars -Joan Cooke Astrology Karma & Transformation -Stephen Arroyo Chinese Horoscopes -Paula Delsol Write Your Own Horoscope -Joseph F. Goodavage You Can Heal Your Life -Louise L. Hay Star Signs -Linda Goodman So yeah, I thought that was significant that I now have another Linda Goodman book to check out, and a bunch more. I actually already have Write Your Own Horoscope" which is a good thing, because the copy I got must be the worst condition book I've ever seen. I couldn't give the author credit, unless I looked it up on the internet. Anybody read/own/heard of any of these? IP: Logged |

Joseph Goodavage has a decent reputation, but I haven't read his stuff. I own Stephen Arroyo's "Astrology, Karma, & Transformation" but I haven't read it yet. I have read Arroyo's "Astrology, Psychology, and the Four Elements" and "Chart Interpretation Handbook", both were great, so I have high hopes for the publication you've received. Linda Goodman's "Star Signs" is quite a departure from astrology. I enjoy her astro work, but honestly, I found Star Signs to be full of hocus-pocus. I try to keep both feet on the ground, especially in my defense of topics as socially repudiated as astrology, and so I lost a little respect for Linda Goodman after I read Star Signs. IP: Logged |

Arroyo's book is really good. Very in depth. Not fluff astrology.Star Signs was cool when I was 16. Louise's book is thought provoking. Good beginner book. IP: Logged |

I really like the Arroyo one and like SW, I have those other two by him as well.My astrology teacher a decade ago recommended the book as a classic text and he was a practicing psychologist/school counsellor as well as right into astrology, transcendental meditation, Qi jong, etc etc... Yeah, Scorpio Web, I agree when you talk about Linda Goodman's unastrological leanings in the occult. I don't really like it either, when I read Love Signs and find her talking about meditating with glasses of water in the Cancer-Pisces section and random crap like that.Yes I can see that "You Can Heal Your Life" isn't astrological, as the title doesn't even suggest it, and nothing really does on it. It however, is missing the cover, and it's spine is broken though many times leaving it in 10 weathered pieces. Anyway I'm confident I don't need any help from books for what is relevant to me, so I'm really not into reading(actively seeking) other's theories. Another interesting thing is.. I lent my English teacher "Interesting Times" by Terry Pratchett, and she lent me Linda Goodman's "Sun Signs". what a surprise. IP: Logged |

Snohawk, I like your posts, you are so personable and interesting. When you talked of book swapping, a weird little story came to mind regarding a long aquaintance - probably my best friend but I find her abrasive and don't actively contact her. She is unusual. I've known her since my first year of school and went to her 5th birthday party. She had her first child in a remote village at the bottom of the Himalayas. A Cancer woman - "gawd, Cancer! the bane of my existence!!" A few years back whilst visiting, she was checking out my bookshelf. She grabbed "The Education of Little Tree", a book that I had to order in from the U.S. publisher, or maybe it was Mexico Press or some such....anyhow, treasured book. Well she asked to swap and said she would give me her Jonathon Livingstone Seagull - which I had never read but she actually had it in her bag, so yeah either she had book swapping in mind or she kept that close to heart. She said she wanted to read my book again because originally she had owned a copy, having been sent it by a friend from Japan -fer cryin out loud. Yeah, I think I was befuddled already so numbly did the swap - it must have been near the end of her stay because she said we'd post them back later. Well, I sent hers back after a few weeks but this didn't spark her to return mine. I forgot about it, and because I generally only speak to her when she calls me(I find ongoing commitment tedious), I asked her about it when next I spoke with her. She said "Oh, did I borrow a book off you. I used to have that book myself. Are you sure I've got yours?" I said yeah, and told her the brief story coz this was about maybe close to a year later. She said ok I'll post it back to you. That was several years ago now. I've talked to her on the phone several times and had one visit from her and her children. I've been wondering for awhile now whether I will ask for it back again. I want it back and am capable of asking for it back(easily!), but for some reason I balk at doing so. IP: Logged |

Heh, yeah... abrasive best friends... story of my life. Well, that's kind of interesting, and sucks, I guess. You know, though that she's only abrasive, and that you have right to want your book back, or whatever, and she probably has that conscious that too, and is just messing with you. That's my experience.I have a question for any Star Signs readers. Or any numerologers who use the system described in the chapter "while the soul slumbers". My question is: if your name your breaking down is more than one word, and one amounts to more digits than another, what do you do? unidigit every word first then add them, or add the words, and unidigit that number? This will make the same single number, but, if your looking for you two digit number, whatever it's called, that can be different. Here's and example Sky Davis 321 41613 -6- -15-- can be --21-- 3 or -6- -6-- --12-- 3 So is it twelve or twenty-one? IP: Logged | |
