Have you ever noticed after someone as asked if your single and you say yes. After that question they ask "Why you don't have a girlfriend/boyfriend..?" or "Why are you not married..?"The minute you finish answering the second question their whole face turns to sh!t -.-. It's like that second question is the deciding factor of your whole date. It's not about the reason you showed up early, you dressed nicely, your bubbly and cute, most of all you work and go to school... No..no..it's never those things to those kind of people.. It's always..WHY ARE YOU SINGLE NOW?OAO You meet all of my mental checkpoints but I need to know how you screwed up your last relationship and what type of baggage you have. Then I can compare this to my current situation and we will see if I pass or veto you.=) To me in my mind this sounds like: I just want to bring up all your heartache..so I don't feel like the bigger loser on this date. Then agan I just said, "I couldn't be assed to be attatched to someone right now=).." That's probably why it went horribly wrong last saturday lol. IP: Logged |

If I went out with a promising prospect, that would probably be the last thing on my mind. I don't understand why people ask me that question either......IP: Logged |

My answer to that question was (cause I'm now in a relationship) I'm successfully single with an awesome 3 year record and I really wouldn't want to lose it cause I am having the time of my life and I have as much freedom as I could possibly want! Who says being single sucks? Every once and a while some man comes along to break me from my record and I have to dig out a baseball bat to ward him off!IP: Logged |

Actually, what annoys me is when I tell people I'm in a relationship (even bought a ring before to say I was engaged or married) and this doesn't always stop people from harassing me. IP: Logged |

Thanks for the replies, I almost forgot about this. Good thing is, the person and I are still talking but can't go further because I'll be moving out of state for college. *sighs*IP: Logged |

Simple. If it is friends and/or family, they are doing it because (cough) they care.A prospective partner? Probably checking you are looking for a relationship. IP: Logged |

If it's prospective partners, they're really asking why is someone as great as you not already taken. The other insinuation is that there's something unseen that's terrible about you because on the outside you appear to be good partner material.IP: Logged |

"Because nobody loves me. Duh." That's the answer that comes to my mind for that...I'm a nerd. You'd think they'd figure out that I'm not to 99% of the world's tastes by now and I haven't gotten lucky with the 1% yet. IP: Logged |

"Why am I not in a relationship? Because I'm too cynical and misanthropic. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's people." Actually lately I've been getting asked this a lot at family get-togethers, especially because I've lost weight (because of course when I was fat no one would have wanted me...grrr). I just shrug and tell them "because I don't want one right now." I just say it directly and to the point and they leave me alone...for a while. IP: Logged |
