Like windchimes or conch shells,
panpipes, didgeridoos, recorders, ocarinas, bells, harmonicas, and so forth.....or natural sounds, recorded or in real life (some of us live in the cities and do not have easy access to babbling brooks, wind through pines, wolve's howling, jungle sounds, rainforest sounds; the list goes on. This includes the singing bowl. It is pleasant and soothing to use.
Makes more sense to me than cable Television and other "things" people blow money on, like crotch rockets, boom boxes to play obnoxious noise on, excess clothing, and other non necesessities. And bringing up, and out, the multi tones of a brass bowl is not something one just does. It takes time and practice and one must be in the moment with one's sElf and the bowl and mallet. Otherwise one only gets clangs, dings, and clanks. It must be gently played like a wet finger tip on a crystal glass rim to evoke the sounds. But once one has mastered the bowl, one can evoke from it both low tones and high tones, fast and slow tones, all multi layered overlapping over and over in a cosmic sounding symphony as one caresses it with the wooden mallet and cradles it gently barely touching it, in a rythmic swaying balance of gentle movement, eyes closed, one soon forgets they are holding it or moving and only hear the tones, becoming the tones and all there is is the sound. The outside world recedes into nothingness, and all becomes the multilayered tones, within and without. Like GG said; much like the sounds of certain planets recorded by our space probes. So Lotus dear, please do not condemn the singing bowl until you have personally used this simple but amazing ancient device.

And.....
Since GOLD is an imperishable metal, It would be very interesting to hear the tones one could evoke by gently, softly caressing a singing bowl crafted from Pure Gold. And man crafts the bowls, but the gold, brass, silver etcetera, come from the Earth!  The Gold etcetera is no different from any rock, until hands God gave us, create from those ores, such things as singing bowls.  ~Antique Himalayan bowls~

"His strong commitment, reflected in political activity, lectures, films and books, has strengthened the struggle against climate change," the Nobel citation said. "He is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted." It cited Gore's awareness at an early stage "of the climatic challenges the world is facing."
