Why does most everyone here lexigram in ALL capital letters? I find it somewhat difficult to read them that way. I usually write mine out normally instead of "shouting".

Thanks everyone! Ok I understand now. Which leads to another question... Why did she say to do that? ------------------ ~I intend to continue learning forever~Enigma ~I am still learning~ Michangelo The Door to Gnosis is never permanently locked...one only needs the correct keys and passwords.~Enigma The pious man with closed eyes can often hold more ego than a proud man with open eyes.~NEXUS Out of the mouth of babes commeth wisdom that can rival that of sages.~Enigma In the rough, or cut and polished..a diamond is still a precious gem. -NEXUS-

i dont know that she did, other than to also say that extra words that fill in the meaning of a phrase, like an 'a' or 'the', if added to the lexigram, should be in lower case in parenthesis......of course we wouldnt want you to break your own rules......=P i also suspect that the capital letter rule is connected to the fact that capital letters better emphasize the geometry of the 1-2-3-0 dimensional awareness .......which Linda wrote about on page 144 of Star Signs....

All caps makes perfect sense to me. Anyway, she explained in the lexigram chapter to do the final lexigram in all caps but that, if necessary, you could add an a or a the or a but in lower case and parenthesis to "bring more meaning to a sentence" and that that should be "done sparingly and only if necessary to comprehend the full meaning of a sentence". So, all caps for words in the lexigram and lower case with parentheses for little words like "a", etc. Makes it clearer to see which words you added to the lexigram and were not originally in the word. Besides, I think it makes the word druids feel more important. You know, they're out in their full ALL CAPS glory for something as important as lexigrams. But that's just my take on it. ------------------ "To learn is to live, to study is to grow, and growth is the measurement of life. The mind must be taught to think, the heart to feel, and the hands to labor. When these have been educated to their highest point, then is the time to offer them to the service of their fellowman, not before." - Manly P. Hall IP: Logged |

Well I did the MEAT one in caps because it was short. But when I did the "Endearments" one and the "Human Beings" one in caps it looked too shouting. So I went back to regular writing instead. They Are lexigrams, only not in all caps. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/001612.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/001614.html ------------------ ~I intend to continue learning forever~Enigma ~I am still learning~ Michangelo The Door to Gnosis is never permanently locked...one only needs the correct keys and passwords.~Enigma The pious man with closed eyes can often hold more ego than a proud man with open eyes.~NEXUS Out of the mouth of babes commeth wisdom that can rival that of sages.~Enigma In the rough, or cut and polished..a diamond is still a precious gem. -NEXUS- IP: Logged |

I like what Eleanore said about the word druids wanting to be important I write in caps because it makes more of a statement and I find it easier to read caps. IP: Logged |

Well the day a word druid manifests and gives me help I will capitalize as a way of thanking them. I still think all caps are hard to read. Imagine a novel WRITTEN all in caps...... It makes more sense to me to cap any letters you add, if that is your thing, and then leave the rest of the lexigram normal. But to each their own. Ok.......... After some reconsideration..... I can see how doing them in ALL upper case can help set off the ADDED LETTERS....one of my pet peeves! My big thing is people (LOTUS comes to mind here!) Who sneak and add letters not found in the word/name/phrase, being Lexigrammed. By hiding the added letters, I mean like Lotus does,(and some others do it too, even Linda did it!) this"ADDING" letters but hiding them in the resulting Lexigram, and by NOT setting them off as one should; (E) or (e), Or like this; APPLe with the actual letters in upper case and the added ones in lower case. MOST folks I think honestly make mistakes. But some do it intentionally, as Lotus herself freely admits doing. This is unfair to those of us who do not cheat and hide letters to make our lexigrams look better. But if one does do their Lexigramming in lower case, the added letters, if any can still be set apart thusly; (A) or (a). The big thing is do not sneak and hide letters! If you want to add them, fine! But do not hide them please. -NEXUS- IP: Logged |

fayte,I'm with you Personally, I would possibly almost inflexibly follow Linda's rules- but yes, a long string of words in caps look like shouting to me, too. However some feel more comfortable reading lexigrams in caps, while others more comfortable reading lexigrams not in caps- and I'm fine with both. True, imagine an entire novel written in capital letters- that would be too overwhelming for me to read! ------------------ May not be able to get back to you...appreciate your say nevertheless...D IP: Logged |
