quote: In a round about way, I was lumped into the group of people that annoy fayte because they dont bracket off letters or sneak others into their lexigrams. That is completely absurd to me. That she would think people are doing that on purpous to make themselves look better. WTF?
Just to clarify, I don't think LEXX was implying you so much, 26t. I have read previous posts regarding this where LEXX was referring to a certain website that she had a bad experience with regarding this same issue. I do think she might have made that distinction more clear, though, seeing as if you weren't aware of this previous problem then it does read as though she is being insulting towards you and other members of this site. I do see at least one post where she suggested there are some who do similar things here and, though I don't agree that they are doing it solely to "look better", the fact is that people do often purposefully add letters to their lexigrams. For example, adding an (i) to get the world (i)S for better clarity, kind of the way Linda suggested especially with the use of (). But sometimes it isn't simply minor words like these and the lexigram can take on a whole meaning that is not actually in the word. That doesn't bother me, personally, even though I may not consider it a "true" lexigram according to my preferences, but it apparantly bothers LEXX enough for her to comment on it. I made another post at Lexigrams and Linda Goodman which continues along this train of thought. I am asking anyone reading this to please visit that link and read it through as a number of people have contributed to it and it addresses this very thing. I am also very kindly suggesting we let this thread die a natural death. IP: Logged |

Hm. Still only one page here. I'm noticing this is happening in threads that were started some time ago. Guess I will have to wait again....Hopefully the thread is losing steam anyway.

Agent 26 ~I missed your lexi the first go round. It is an amazing feat of inspiration. Thank you for sharing it with us. I'm just a lurker in this Forum, so possibly don't have the right to comment but ... I find lexigrams to be similiar to poems. They require a good deal of sweat and a good deal more of that inspiration 26 exhibited. The poems shared in Yellow Wax have been, thank goodness, spared the critics pen. They've always been graciously accepted and sometimes resoundingly admired, thereby making it just a little easier for posters to share their gifts. I'd like to say the same for the gifts shared in Lexigram Magic. IP: Logged |

hm...here are the pages again. Thank you for your sincere compliments, Tink. They mean a lot to me and are very nice to hear right now. It's nice to know that someone else understands. They have been like poems or, that's how i've gone about them. Good eye. Thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts. You have just as much a right as anyone else. IP: Logged |

A Lexigram is not a poem if we believe it reveals hidden Truths. I feel there is a greater responsibility attached to Lexigrams. If someone thinks they are just a game, I don't think they will have the insight to really hear the word druids. And if viewing it like a poem only, why not just post it in the Yellow Wax Forum? ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. We know a lexigram is not a poem.No one said lexigramming is a "game". No one here veiws them as "poems only". Who here doesnt try to pull out the hidden meanings in them? Just because someone may ALSO try to make them poetic, that doesnt mean that is ALL they are doing with them. Why not post it in the Yellow Wax forum? Because, it's a poetic Lexigram. IP: Logged |

Lexigrams aren't poems. Of course. Athough, a well wrought lexi will have a certain poetic feel to it, don't you think? The similarity I see is in the fashioning and in the sharing. Inspiration and creativity are stymied in an unnecessarily critical environment. 26 ~ That would be a loss to us all. You've shared a few real gems here.IP: Logged |
