Alright then. Let me get a good nights sleep and work on it tomorrow. No, do not tell me ladies. My Pluto and Moon in the 8th house will figure it all out. Maybe I already know, silverstone! Okay. I will admit, i do not. Give me a day or two. mwhahaha IP: Logged |

quote: Eleanore, that was a brilliant observation about Astrology; since Linda used the Equal House System, why not encourage that here also? Great analogy. Personally, I adhere to Linda's way. But I also support free expression. I don't think we should pick apart each other's Posts, including typos and grammar; however, a Lexigram is a bit different, as mistakes can convey wrong messages. But above all else...politeness.
Thanks, Randall. I really appreciate you helping me gain the proper perspective here.
LEXX, you haven't been around the past couple of days and I hope you're alright. Your work really is appreciated and I hope you don't feel I was casting you in a negative light. With every possibility tossed out there this way, there is clarity about the situation and a standard to apply from now on. 26t, I hope you stick around and share more of your lexigrams, too. And I hope you don't feel bothered if anyone comments on your work from now on. But if you do, if you feel that anything is inappropriate, please feel free to contact me with your concerns.
That all really goes for everyone who visits LM essentially. Let's all just try to keep Randall's words in mind from now on, please. Also, I tend to be on after "peak hours" so I may not catch something immediately. I'm looking forward to new mod additions who will hopefully be more on the same schedule with the posting habits here. Otherwise we'll be the after-hours clean up crew. Seriously, though, I'm sure all our mods will be equally willing to help anyone around LL so long as we are kept informed. IP: Logged |

Greetings, wonderful responses! quote:
1. Does it make logical sense we adapt Linda`s standards? 2. If you disagree , why? What would you offer instead?....That`s not to say one couldn`t work branch out and lexigram differently but would provide a solid rule of thumb standard for lexigraming. That basic standard would set a guideline and eliminate the misunderstandings caused by so many different personal rules. juniperb... I agree with posting Linda's rules as a way to convey her ideas to newbies or to refresh memories; however, I am against restricting others from doing it their way. Randall I do not agree either, Juniperb. I think everyone should feel welcomed to lexigram in any way they want. Silverstone I believe there should be no restrictions... all ways should be accepted... lotusheartone Sure, we can make up our own rules about how many vowels to use, bracketing or capitalizing etc, but I think we all should get comfortable with the fact that people are going to do whatever they want regardless. Whether they are rebelling against another's system or just simply not aware of all the other sets of rules that are out there. 26T Well, I don't think we should have to restrict lexigramming to any one way here. I adore Linda's work and am constantly awed by her insight but, as the saying goes, different strokes for different folks. Eleanore.
Thank you all for responding The general consensus is ( and DO correct me if I am wrong) A lexigram is a personal offering and should not be limited.
Randall summed up very nicely how lexigraming can be shared and loved by all when choosing community conduct; respect for fellow lexigramers. Regardless of "who`s" rules one uses. Personally, I adhere to Linda's way. But I also support free expression. I don't think we should pick apart each other's Posts, including typos and grammar; however, a Lexigram is a bit different, as mistakes can convey wrong messages. But above all else...politeness. Thank you again for kindly sharing your personal thoughts. It is so nice to see everyone come together here for the good of Lexigram Magic. If the bulk of a Lexigram is the result of letters not in the original word or phrase, then that's not the same as using a different House System, and I think it would be okay to point out such a discrepancy (especially if it paints a negative picture). ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll IP: Logged |

To date, I have not seen anyone create a Lexigram with the bulk of the letters not in the original word. Except once when someone was joking around. Nor have I seen people trying to purposly paint a negative picture of something through a lexigram. Also, I didnt say using a different house system was the same thing. I think you understand what I meant. Looks like we can all move on now. Yay. IP: Logged |
